I made the muffins yesterday and they turned out so good. I did change the recipe from all wheat flour to half white bread flour and half whole wheat flour. Thank you so much for all the good bread recipes. John

Oh and I just used my fitness pal to quickly work out the calories in this recipe, roughly 195 per muffin, not bad at all :)

Thumbs up Titili. Hubby made 7 - herb n cheese sub buns yesterday then went out to the 99 cent extravaganza at the grocery store and bought English muffins, BAH! Awe ya gotta luv him ya know. Not very often we buy english muffins, but in small batches, myself I am gonna give it a go.

Hi! If I'd like to make the muffins for breakfast but would like to premake them the night before, should I fry them all and reheat them the next morning or put the risen dough in the fridge and fry them in the morning? Thank you

Titli, I've tried to make this recipe, but it didn't work. I followed every instruction, but my dough was too watery and sticky, so I put more flour until the dough becomes non-sticky, but the main problem ocurred when I tried to cook them on a pan. I cooked in low heat, both sites of the muffin was almost burning, but my muffins ended up raw :( I can't find english muffins in my country, especially in regular food markets and I'm so keen to make some and try them. Do you have any suggestion to make it work next time I try? Should I bake them in the oven?

Follow her regular flour English muffin recipe and you will have greater success. Working with whole wheat is difficult especially if you're a beginner Baker also make sure your yeast is proofing and working and when you cook it in the Pan make sure it's not too high and don't be in a rush to cook them let them Brown evenly on both sides

Oh btw. the muffins look great must give them a go. When I was kid and granny was alive. There was a large flat stone that lived behind the gas stove which saw occasional use making muffins. After granny died, the stone disappeared. How I wish I owned it today. Do you suppose a pizza stone would work okay in oven?

I used to like marmite. Now I find it way too salty. ... So what can I do with the two jars left in cupboard? I occasionally eat Brewers Yeast flakes, sprinkled on stuff, but the marmite is way too salty and probably bad for high blood pressure?

hirundine You can add it to soups, stocks or gravy, for example. Add a tsp to mac n cheese. I like to toast an English muffin, spread with butter and *very* thinly with Marmite, then top with a poached egg and grind on some black pepper.

***** Thanks Titli for some good suggestions. Generally, I use fish sauce and occasionally Worcestershire sauce for all that. Brewers yeast flakes do a really good job of adding that B12 flavour too. But hey, I've two unopened jars plus one in the fridge. So perhaps , I'll give some of those suggestions a whirl? Just too plain salty, though!

Funny enough, I am more curious about marmite. Unfortunately it is quite pricey due to shipping cost, as I can only get it online here in Germany.
