So I am so glad the recipe made a few more because these are FABULOUS! I made the vegan version - water and canola oil - for the vegan in the family. Served the trial muffin toasted, of course, with sweet butter, orange marmalade and freezer strawberry jam. The vegan will have to skip the butter. Tant pis! Almost swooned. My taciturn hubby also was amazed. He couldn't understand why I didn't just buy Bays. Now he does! I will have to keep them under lock and key till Thanksgiving morning. Thank you so much for the great recipe and easy, clear instructions.

This is the 2nd video I watched on making English muffins. The 1st video made you rest the dough 3 times! Twice for an hour and once for an hour and a half, for a total of 3 and a half hours of resting plus all the other work! Who has the time to spend 4+ hours to make 8 English muffins? I'll try your recipe!

Great, have not watched any of Titlis great cooking movies in a long time, last was something about some indian food i am loving very much :) If you add the sugar to your milk in the beginning, your yeast will start to work faster, add the salt to the flour. Loving my Muffins, in Germany we are calling them Toasties or toast broetchen btw.

English Muffins, at brunch time (everyone likes a sleep in) toasted with poached eggs and bacon and a mug of cappuccino maybe a roasted tomato on the side with a little spinach to make it look fancy and that is my idea of an awesome start to the weekend.

I just finished eating some Wolferman's English Muffins that I received as a gift and although they're fantastic, it's overpriced. So I'm going to give your recipe a try. The way I eat mine is I split them in half, spread butter or margarine on the cut side and cook them on a griddle until they're golden. Thanks!

My dough ball is in my oven with the light on right now. I added an extra oz of flour to combat the stickiness, and it worked. Although it was still fairly sticky, I didn't need much bench flour to knead it. Sooooo, we shall see! Ted

I am an experienced bread make. I made these according to the instructions but I had a couple of issues. The dough needed a fair amount of additional flour to lose its stickiness. Roll the dough out thicker and use a 4" cutter to get 7. Following instructions, I got 11 - not 7. Will comment again once I bake them!

@Nocturne2211 жыл бұрын
Titli, do you think it's a good thing to knead in the bowl? I get lazy when it comes to clean up, and rather than break out a cutting board, I just flour a clean hand repeatedly and knead inside the bowl I made the dough in, then let it rise in there without cleaning it.

In the video you say bread flour , but on your blog it says plain flour, will it make a difference in the final product ?
@Mr.56Goldtop9 жыл бұрын
They look good, like store bought, but they don't taste like store bought. They have a yeasty smell and taste, a lot like homemade fresh dinner rolls. They are not quite as dense as store bought and the texture and crumb is slightly different. But they are very tasty, but nothing special like I hoped they would be. I can buy a package of 8 in my supermarket for 99 cents on sale, so for me they're not worth the effort. But I would make them again if I couldn't buy any, they are so easy. I ended up turning my heat up to medium, pancake setting, to get them to brown properly in 5 minutes. But not all stoves are the same. So I'm happy with this recipe, I haven't seen any better. : )
@TheBreadKitchen11 жыл бұрын
You can use either but you'll get better results with bread flour
