Edited for re-writing history, I used this in my class and the students started calling shenanigans as it was not an accurate reading. It left out that only the slaves in rebellious states were freed. In fact it left out all mention of the rebellion.

Very disappointing to see this from a woman whom I have always regarded as being “woke”. Inaccurate, edited version of the EP. Not once was there a reference to this order being issued to “rebel” states. Slavery was allowed to continue in the states that joined the Union. Sad reading of an edited version! You should have known better Whoopi!

The actual proclamation as Lincoln wrote it said, “those states engaged in a rebellion against the United States of America shall have all their slaves declared free”, She changed it. It did not include those states that remained loyal to the United States of America and the union., The seven border states, like Missouri. Lincoln in Congress were afraid that if they breed those slaves there, the white populations would join the battle with the confederacy. It was only by a separate presidential decree, which held the power of law, that all slaves were declared free, and that decree was a companion that followed after the emancipation proclamation. The PC applied only to states having seceded from the United States of America to form the confederacy at that time.

@@ceomgmt not for TV so much as for the purpose of rewriting history.
