AAA is exactly how I came to discover air shims! I have been using them in one fashion or another for probably 15 years. Working alone is often more difficult but the advantage of it is there's no other humans around, which in most cases is huge plus. 😊 I wish I could thank that AAA locksmith for opening my eyes to this helping hand.

Actually, 1 is best. Fit it as far behind the mirror as possible... then slowly pump once at a time listening for the mirror to start pulling from the clue on wall. Then release the air and move to other side of mirror & repeat. Always do top or sides... never at bottom of mirror if at all possible. Have yet to break a mirror and has worked every single time.

Replacing all the doors in my house, I picked up one of these from Home Depot a few months ago to help with the install. It's well worth it. Makes it easy to line up the hinges without a helper. You can even install a pre-hung door without taking the door all the way off the hinges and make minor adjustments with the air to get the door perfectly plumb and level before shimming the door and putting screws behind each hinge one at a time.

Talk about perfect timing. I'm in the middle of a shower remodel and have to finesse a 130lb shower pan over a drain pipe. @@bilbobagginstwo Excellent, just decided to grunt it into the alcove after verifying the drain was lined up. Lowered it down on 4 or 5 slats of Pergo interspaced with 3 air shims. The slickness and durability of the Pergo slats allowed me to push it square into the alcove and then I inflated the 3 air shims to remove enough weight from the pan to pull the Pergo slats out. They deflate paper thin and had no problem retrieving them. Love these things.

I have a stackable washer/dryer (apartment size) in a small closet and I want to shove it up against a wall so that on the opposite side I will have room for a broom. The way it is now it is centered and I only have a small space on each side instead of one larger space. There would be no problem with doors opening on the closet or on the washer/dryer. I would probably need the longer air bladder to raise the machine from the bottom and them one between the washer/dryer and wall. Do they make the hoses longer so that it be placed further away?

I first became aware of these back in 2005 when I was a store manager for GamStop and my assistant manager called out. I was in such an exhausted stupor from playing Battlefield on my Xbox the night before that I stammered out to my car, turned it on, and realized I forgot my lunch. I was wearing driving gloves and I must have accidentally hit the lock button and didn’t feel it because when I got back I was locked out of a running car in my driveway. My neighbor at the time was a volunteer firefighter and was coming back to his house when he saw my plight. He said he had a “slim jim” back at the station which was just down the way. He comes back and puts the air wedge into the door and within minutes he was able to fit a long, thin, piece of flexible metal into the gap and had the door unlocked in 3 minutes. I gave him a $20 and I was on my way. He says they use those to get into cars that have infant babies or animals locked in cars on hot days, and it does the job well. Also, nice shoutout to the LPL
