We have one at work! It's the LH122 version, bare bones. The engine is a diesel 2.4 with the 2L engine. It has 450,000 Km and I am restoring it! I will convert it to a crew cab to transport the chaps from the cycling club. I love it! I’ve Imported parts for mine from Australia as parts in Costa Rica due to planned obsolescence are hard to get and expensive if bought from the dealership.

Great video mate. My stepdad had two of these when they were brand new as he worked for Telecom which later became Telstra. He had both variants...the 2.4 petrol and 2.8 diesel. Both we're 5 speed manual. With the diesel version he would take off in 2nd gear unless it was a steep hill as first was really short. He liked the diesel version better because it had more torque but slow as all Fcuk. The diesel version also had better economy. The lack of power steering wasn't a big deal either because your sitting right above the wheels. If you were moving slowly it was still easy to turn the wheel. Once again great video.💯👍👍Edit... both of my stepdad hiace vans had cargo barriers behind the seats.

Yeah I hear that is the case with diesels. So much torque and 1st is such a short gear.

hey mate just wondering is yours Long wheel base or short wheel base? and how much did you pick it up for in Melbourne? I'm about to start a plumbing apprenticeship and need a van/work vehicle, I thought one of these HiAce's would be a great van for my first year or two.
