For real even with high mileage they can still retain much of the quality and overall feel. I had a sub 200k 2000 180 and it just held up so much better than anything else its age. Ride is nice and quiet, not all road noise. These cars are masterpieces.

I just picked up one a few months back! Was built at a shop, got forged internals, hybrid turbo and all the supporting mods. Bilstein coilovers, and upgraded control arms. Makes about 300 hp & torque at the wheels. Best car I’ve ever owned. Absolutely exhilarating to drive. So fast past 100mph. Makes me feel brave enough to test the temper of the NYPD’s highway patrol

Just got myself a Moro blue MK1 225 over a month ago, really nice condition considering the age. Have to say watching your videos really helped convince me it was the right thing to do. Always loved the look of them, gives me hints of 356 vibes which again is something I loved growing up. After watching BWS TT's & your videos, I finally bought a very nice 2005 Mk1. Yeah it has age related issues, it's going to need a new CV joint and an exhaust sooner rather than later, but these are just wear and tear. What really sold me was the £1600 asking price with just over 77K on the clock. Now I'm going though all the videos of your channel looking for the stuff I can fix, while costing stuff I can't. You have given me an insight and appreciation to the TT I'd have never known about otherwise. Thank you!

I bought the cheapest running TT 225 BAM engine that I could find in France for 4.5k€, in January, after restoring a 180 AUQ coupe FWD (sad). Here in France the access to good price for mods and parts is quite hard compared to your market in UK, but it's quite a joy to make them shiny again :) The coupé was almost free, as it was on the way to go to the car cemetary. Spent a lot of time and money fixing it, used this as a learning experience and got the BAM one pretty nice now. I got to fit the BAM with Bilstein B14, a new EDEL exhaust in 76mm (got the maf to 210g/s without tune with that..), changed the fuelpump, changed a few captors, redid the full paint and bodywork job back to a pristine brilliant black, changed all the suspension bushes and brakes (which was quite a job). OEM+ is a joy. Now in this state, in France they are around 15K€.

I bought a denim blue one last week with 69k genuine miles on the clock, very clean example with no mods done to it, recently had the timing belt and water pump done, paid 3500 for it and delighted with it, probably paid a bit over the odds but much less of a selection of them in Northern Ireland, most others have well over 100k on the clock.

The MK1 TT was a car ahead of its time. As of right now you can not come close to buying anything that's AWD, turbo ,& manual in the same price range. Honestly anything you could buy in the next price range up is usually junk or been driven very hard. You can still find 1 owner TT's that have been driven by older people that didn't beat on them. You can never say that about STI's or Mazda 3's.

When it comes to Resale value I'm always Amazed how people "follow sheep" so to say when it comes to what their car should sell for.. and most people just end up selling their TT for what is market related, Instead of asking yourself - what is my car truly worth compared to others out there?..One has to take into account the Condition, mileage and originality of your car before simply selling it for what Joe soap has his or hers on the market for..Always good watching your videos thanks! 👌OH BTW,I also drive a Red Mk1 225 and I Love it!!! 🥰

After a few of your vids and then this I went and got one myself. 2000 Denim Blue 225. Only 74k and has a great service history. The blue leather is really clean. Has actually done about 1000 miles in last few years, Some years there are 2 miles between MOTS, the owner lived in Guernsey and left it here. Has a couple of issues to keep me tinkering too, but really impressed with the drive and how solid the car is. You vids let me know there was support out there when i will no doubt need some advice, keep it up!

Great vlog when you drive one it is different to other cars (nippy good handling and comfortable) i have a coupe's i just lower the back seats and the boot space is really good. Easy to load and unload .So the reputation of a hairdresser car is totally unjust. 👍👌🚘😀

I just bought a 2001 Denim Blue 225 w/matching blue interior which was very rare to me at 190km for $9500 Canadian. A definite classic in 3yrs time. Car runs smooth, just needs small TLC with some minor rust work around the fenders, but other than that, she's just gorgeous! My plan is to restore it back to it's original condition.

I have heard canadian cars are very expensive but then again the currency is quite different to ours so thats probably a big factor too. Returning it to its former glory is defiantly worth while in my opinion, easier to find parts, costs less usually and less to go wrong plus helps sale price down the line

On my 3rd now so defo agree with the statement about people keep coming back to another mk1. All been 225 coupes. After my 2nd I said never again but then I came across a perfect low mileage factory Votex 225 and it had to be done. Longest I've kept a car now, nearly 2 years. Owes me about 10.5k with the purchase price as well as doing everything to it such as maintenance, preventative maintenance, mods and getting to stage 2. Safely say this one's staying for the foreseeable future and maybe being a Votex will go up in value in the future.

Hi, always love your relaxing vids, now I need your advise, I have 3 little cars, 2 of them are MK1 & sure one of ‘em is BAM 1.8 silver lake TTQ since 2002, swearing this car is good as daily, replaced the rocker cover gasket for the first time myself last month ! Recently I’ve been thinking to mod with Pedal box provided by XRL pedal box but I’m still pausing to purchase it, what do you think about this throttle mod anyway, I had replaced DV with 034 and it was good than old OE, now I just want to improve the throttle response a bit as well, the car is at 200K mark by now and keep clean STOCK & possible forever !Thank you, your advice I’ll appreciate, cheers!

Good to see there are still some high milers out there, its something ive had in the past, not the race chip brand but similar products in the market, they have their place, usually good on auto's where there seems to be an annoying delay haha, i have contacted them to see if they would be willing to send me one to try and review so we shall see if they get back to me, For the most part yes they work, they can be set to less or more depending on how you want delivery, some settings are unusable unless you are wanting to go full throttle every time you push the pedal!

The headlights on your V6 look super clean, have you polished them, any tips? I have used the autoglym restorer on mine and whilst it improves them they still have bits of crazing which don't seem to shift...?

The v6 headlights are just in a really nice untouched condition. I suspect they have been changed at some point for new ones. The autoglym kit should bring them back up, ususlly if there is still material on the lights this happens. Maybe it needs a deeper sanding

Just picked a 180s mk1 up off auction.. high mileage, bodywork not the best, but it’s something to learn with.. that and I have an S3 Mk2 Quattro.. 😂 the price on S3 alone have gone insane and mine was the cheapest one in the country..could never part with that though..

Men I have mine that is a 2005 tt 225hp and I don't know what to do with it. I bought the car 3 years ago and I had to travel and the car was sitting for two years and half. I started to fixed 6 months ago and since then I had fixed timing belt, timing chain, water pump, axles, coolant hoses, and now is the clutch. I really love that car and is my dream car but is giving me a lots of problems and sometimes I cant afford those mods. Anyway I think that I will keep it because Im in love with that slow shitbox, I love your videos man keep being like that you are awesome

In england the price is still coming down, eventually they will bottom out as demand drops off, i think the TTS & TTRS models will maintain and grow in value but the lesser models will take a bit longer to appreciate

I'm planning to finally get round to doing a full car license this summer. I didn't want a 4 door and I was surprised by the TT's reasonably price (2-4k) for a MK1 and (3-8k) for a MK2. I found this channel while trying to research both cars a couple weeks ago. I like the idea of a DSG & paddle shifters but I'm not sure its the right move for a first car. Would you say the MK1 is a suitable first car (given it will likely need repairs / maintenance) or to go straight to a MK2? Also I tried messaging the FB page but it doesn't seem to work but maybe that's because I'm not following the page. Cheers!

It’s entirely down the preference. The older mk1 will require more maintenance due to age but has the more iconic looks and engaging driver feel, hard to get a dsg one too. The mk2 is a lot more user friendly and easier to maintain, a little more pricey and a little less driver feel. Two completely different cars. Just depends what your after

Bro can I just say I love your TTs. They're the perfect colors - I've had 3 myself over the years. First was a Black 180 5spd Coupe, 176k but ran really nice and it was what hooked me. Second one was a Black 5spd 180 Roadster with 106k. That car was awesome, and thats cause I've owned MR2s/Del Sols/Miatas and I love those kinds of cars too. But the roadster was a little too round in certain areas and did feel a little bit more feminine but to be honest I didn't give a fuck what anyone thought. My Last TT was a Red 6spd 225 Quattro Coupe with only 87k, was perfect. Always wanted one in Red or man, Nogaro Blue - we didn't get that state side. Just the denim blue stuff. But I loved those cars. I drove a 01 Silver Quattro Coupe of a friend recently, and that little 225 k04 Turbo still has quite a bit of acceleration and even pins you in your seat a bit if you get on it. These cars look, Feel drive amazing. They're seriously near the very top of my fave cars, only being beaten out *narrowly* by a 93 Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo. But even that compared to a TT - the TT is so much more polished and its comfortable. Its like closing a vault when you close the doors. Fantastic car, everone should try one!

I couldn't agree more, i would say about 50% of people when they sell a tt in later life end up back in one as they just cant find such a well rounded driving experience elsewhere :) as for colours thats personal preference but i do love my nogaro blue very much

Always liked these, I know they aren't as "modern" as the mk2 onwards models but they just look right. Out of interest, what sort of mpg could you get from one on a 65 to 70mph cruise on the motorway? For reference, I drive a 2005 Mini cooper s with a few tweaks (circa 190bhp) and using cruise control I can drag 38 to 39 out of that on average...

I have done over 1000 miles and my average was about 37 to 38 and that's a mixture of motorway and round town. They certainly not amazing but that I can't grumble at

I paid $6500 for a 160k mile 01 225 roadster back in September. Needed lots of work, but no rust and the engine and transmission are STRONG. It's been up on jack stands all winter and I have just completed the front suspension. Can't wait until I have it back on the ground again.

Believe it or not it’s a £15 splitter from Amazon, it was fitted by the previous owner. It’s called a universal splitter, comes on a roll and is an L shape. Has 3m tape on it

The basic drivetrain is tried and true, just an ecu reflash w no bolt-ons really wakes the 225 up, and I'm sure that 6sp tranny and Haldex takes way more abuse than the oem clutch could. Design gets a little weird after that lol, I mean forged Mahle pistons and a plastic clutch pedal in the same factory car?

There is certainly some weak points that we are finding 20 years later that’s for sure. The overall design is good and built to last, certain things have been under engineered but that’s the motoring industry all over

@@TheParrottBros For some reason the vacuum lines, plumbing, coil packs, etc. go bad even on lower mileage examples, these are not Toyota Corollas. Upgraded parts are cheap though, I gather because it's vw based.

I’m in an absolute dilemma. I have a beloved 2001 225 cope 80k miles. It’s my pride and joy but with these fuel prices I’m really struggling to warrant it. It’s had all routine maintenance done, new clutch and flywheel, cam belt etc. Brought a £600 car to replace it and put the TT through an MOT to sell it but it passed first time no advisories so now I’m debating if I should sell such a good car that I love so much lol. I can’t decide if I should sell it while it’s still immaculate and keep the savings or keep it and have the “savings” kept in an asset in the form of a fun little occasional weekend car.

It’s funny as I thought my Tt’s were quite good on fuel if and when I drive sensibly 😂. That’s a real hard decision specially if your mostly driving round in a cheapy. Like Steve says better to be looking at it than looking for it. If you can afford to keep it and you enjoy driving it then it’s a no brainier
