Why 2022 is the WORST LEGO Star Wars...

2022 Had some really dud Lego Star Wars Sets. But let's see if 2022 is actually one of the worst Lego Star Wars years of all time. In this video I'll be taking a look at every single set released this year and giving them a ranking out of 10, which will be compared to every other year we've looked at on the channel so far to see which one is best! I whole heartedly disagree and think it’s honestly one of the best years. I’ll admit there are definitely some issues but honestly I think almost all of the builds and figures are perfect. Some controversies like the pricing is understandable but I don’t think it’s Lego’s fault due to inflation, with the exception of the Justifier and juniors At-St, but even then the Justifier is a great set. There are also the highs like the Inquisitors Scythe, AT-TE, and UCS Razor Crest. There was the introduction of the diorama sets which from what I’ve heard, everyone universally loves, myself included. We also got what I believe to be the perfect May 4th Promo with a small unique set that would never really be made otherwise being the Lars Homestead Kitchen, and an exclusive Aunt Beru which had been a character absent for seemingly no reason despite getting Uncle Owen several times in the past, a small set, with an exclusive figure, that would probably be never made otherwise is what I envision as a perfect promo. Also it has what many regard as the greatest advent calendar ever. Honestly I think people are too harsh on sets this year and focused too much on the nitpicky dissection of the sets rather than seeing the positives and really great aspects about them.

Thanks for the comment and engaging with the video! You make some really great points. I thinking taking price/content out of the equation and just looking at these objectively as toys would definitely change my opinion. Also what seems to happen a lot with Lego is things aren't really appreciated properly until they're gone or 10 years down the track, so I definitely see myself doing that too!

I loved 2018 personally but maybe that’s because I was like 10 at the time and all my memories are going to the lego store and wanting all the sets. Most of the sets I still wish I got were from 2018: x wing, tie fighter, Sandspeeder, hoth medical chamber, and mos eisley

Yeah I'd love to look at that, the only problem is that all the sets are so old that all the images are really low quality and don't look very high-res ahha. If I come up with a way to make them better I'll definitely do it!

I don’t see how you can give a fair ranking without owning half of the sets that you’re slating, and I don’t see why your using price so much as a reason to knock things down, it should just be about the sets for what they are and how good or bad they are to build and display, so with the greatest of respect I think your opinion is mute purely because you haven’t experienced half of the sets

the average of averages (like how the helmets get one sub-score collectively) is not the same as taking the true average (counting the three separate sets that should contribute to the final score individually) so I'm not sure how you calculate the final score but it may not be good math

I got Mando's N1 Starfighter for £35 in Tesco when they were getting rid of it. For £35 it's a 9/10

Controversial opinion but I'd probably give the Fighter tank an 8. Figures are great, price is ok. But the main feature is something I'm not a fan of. I don't like having to constantly readjust the front cockpit because of the way the hinges work. Also, it is a bit too big.

The size is actually perfect on that version of the fighter tank. The original one was massively oversized, and the 2017 one was just a little too small to be accurate. But the 2022 one is correctly sized when you compare it to the size depicted in various games and comics.

Yoooo I thought 2022 was a good year. It had some lows for sure but some great highs to complement them (dagobah diorama, ATTE, inquisitor scythe) I think the justifier is overpriced but overhated too. I definitely prefer it to 2023. Like many of the other comments I think 2018 is the weakest year

2022 was a bad year because it only had one inexpensive location sets and relegated the inexpensive vehicles to mostly Disney+ stuff. Most of the inexpensive sets are still Disney+ stuff two years later. I get Mando is popular but the show kinda fell off starting from Book of Boba Fett and more Prequel and even OT stuff might be a good investment for LEGO. Edit: Omg I’m in this!

One could argue we have enough prequel sets as is. Over 30+ unique types of clones released since 2020. That’s far more than the sets released when the clone wars was airing. Some more OT sets (specifically of stuff beyond ANH, which we haven’t seen in a while) would help. I feel LEGO is already going in that direction.
