We need new system redesign or nothing changes which creates those new jobs. You have to change our economic system, which is our value system. We need a justice system designed to result true justice which is a win/win replacing today’s pay to play win/lose. We need a new medical system focused on good health not profit focused . Once we agree on new system design when need to get to work building it. If we are making a change nothing really changes if all systems remain the same- just repeating the same patterns

I third the disagreement. The past year illustrated productivity increased in WFH. What is the point of all the technology if we still have to waste 40-65 hours a week (my commute time) like its 1970 instead of using that time for exercising, eating and cooking healthier, personal development, etc.? Office culture is just a buzz word and the adult equivalent of 'because I said so'. These guys don't realize how taxing physically, emotionally, financially, and socially commuting can be.

Back in 2004 I decided I wasn’t going to work for another person again. I put together a home based business that I did “on the side”, adding another 25 hours to my normal work week. It took years to replace my former salary. Actually, I never did fully replace it. I just paid down all my debt with the “extra” money my business was producing, until I could live on less. My husband and I now work together. From home. It is the best time in our life together. Not fancy with travel and dinners out, but a real home/work life and we’re closer than we’ve ever been. People are putting value on different things now. Smarter things I think.

Sorry Dave, the only people who don't like WFH are old school bosses who don't trust their people, and the companies that don't allow it, are the ones that will miss out on talent, regardless of how chummy their culture is. Family trumps work, regardless of culture, and good companies maintain culture with a hybrid workforce. WFH has been a boon for recruiting for smart companies. Let's Occam's Razor this. Workers experienced flexibility for the first time in their careers and liked it, and due to stimulus and not spending any money for a year, have enough financial cushion to break free from the dead end jobs they were tied to, or jobs that want to take away the flexibility they've enjoyed over the past year.

It really depends on the job, the person, and the workplace culture. Working remotely has been successful for me, because I'm a technical writer and an introvert. My work is very detailed and requires concentration, so I'm more productive when I can work in a quiet environment without distractions or interruptions. As an introvert, I enjoy solitude. And the team that I'm writing for is based in another state, six and a half hours from here by car. So going in to the office to attend meetings was never an option. (I hate meetings, so that was a selling point, for me.) They are happy with the quality of my work, and as long as it gets done on time, they're content to have me do it at my kitchen table. But many occupations are not so well suited to working remotely, and many people's personalities are not compatible with solitude. And, of course, some workplaces have a culture that doesn't go well with remote work. That's fine. But this is the best way for ME to work, and I'm glad that I live in a time when it's possible to do so.
