Agreed. I know it messes with his analytics (there needs to be some kind of way to “delist” it from that without taking it away completely); but that’s going to be super annoying on an OCD level, lmao. Ironically, I won’t name which one but a more recent(ish) episode was much more bland and “worthy” of pulling the plug on than the one with Joey. I don’t ever feel like I waste my time with AIJ content, but that particular one… oof, I actually felt like I wanted my wasted time back on as it was so incredibly boring and pointless.

I'm an ethically Chinese American, but have lived my life in the US. My interactions with people that have come from China here has massively conflicted with what I was taught in school. Family that have immigrated here compared to those that are born and raised here, tend to be far louder and obnoxious so I can agree with the general consensus that Chinese tourists from the country is not truly indicative of everyone, but it does show how little people from China regard others.

One of my friends lives in Yokohama, and he says that the Chinese tourists are always the worst. Apparently the reason is because the Chinese government bought up a lot of rural land, and made a bunch of working-class people middle-class, and now they can afford to go on holiday. But these are the kind of people that are rather insular and don't have very good manners.

Trump may be “undiplomatic” in the traditional sense, but he is perceived as a strong leader not to be messed with. The weakness of Biden only encourages the likes of Xi, Putin, Kim and the mullahs in Tehran.

There are a lot of horror stories about Chinese tourists acting like cavemen. I heard it got so bad that the government started sending pamphlets on how to act to Chinese citizens planning on visiting a foreign country. There's even Chinese who are embarrassed by the behaviour of those tourists. But the bigger issue is the political issues between China vs Japan. We might actually say the issues expand to China vs all of East and Southeast Asia. It's funny how China's arrogance and bullying behaviour is what is making the rest of the region finally willing to cooperate with Japan after all these decades since WW2. 30 years ago, it seemed impossible that South Korea and Vietnam would be willing to have relations with Japan.
@Stephen-up3sd
@Stephen-up3sd 7 ай бұрын
I am reasonably well travelled, particularly in Asia - I have seen Chinese tourists spitting and their children openly urinating and defecating in public - not behavior likely to endear them to the locals! Speaking to hotel and restaurant owners in Japan, many have told me they detest the Chinese and don’t want them in their establishments. The problem is that the authorities introduce rules that target all tourists, rather than those actually causing the problem.

They were really loud and crude in their own mannerism. However, I had to step back and consider, at that point, they only just got release from their "imprisonment". Really hope that Journey Across Japan episode isn't delisted tbh. I know Chris is an absolute fanatic about quality but part of what makes those trips so enjoyable to watch is how unpredictable and spontaneous they can be. Hell I know some people haven't been keen on just how slick the recent trips have started to feel and have seen many accusations of them being completely staged and scripted, so I genuinely think having episodes where things don't go to plan is important to break that illusion. It was part of the journey and it should stand.

Tbh, neighboring countries around China like at least some of Southeast Asia dislike China for various reasons (i.e. territorial disputes, resources, other politics). It's not considered out-of-place in my country that we sometimes get news of Chinese ships shooing away local boats despite being well within the legal zone of our country. I don't generalize all of China being like that, but people, even some inside of China, dislike their government or certain individuals for reasons.

China indeed has a rich, long history & has contributed much to other nations including Japan. Obviously kanji, but also architectural & culinary influences. Ramen, gyoza, charshiu, etc. all have Chinese origins. That being said, these days, Chinese companies & businesses often appropriate Japanese products & intellectual property without shame. They're also not shy about flexing their military might. At the same time, China is an important trade partner & manufacturer. It is a complicated but very important relationship.

Tbf that Russian Embassy wall is pretty long and massive 🇷🇺 on your stroll to Tokyo Tower 🗼 I can imagine anyone one mistaking any part of that long ass wall as a random wall

Dear Chris and Pete, I have a question about Japan. It's my hope to visit Japan multiple times in my life. That being said I know Japan is very strict and anti cannabis. I use it as a medicine for my appetite, otherwise I go very long periods without eating. I know Japan has seen a shift recently towards CBD, do you think that with changing government that Japan's viewes on cannabis will ever change in terms of medicine and recreation?

Regarding unlisting that video, how are you supposed to share the ups and downs of travel if you don't include the downs?

Woah. It's pretty rare to see someone who's not an American enjoy root beer. It's rare to see someone not like it here, but every foreigner I've ever seen or had try it thought it was repulsive 🤷‍♂️🤣

Don't forget the intense racism towards Japan. A half-Chinese woman was told by police she couldn't wear a kimono.

I wonder if the UK and/or Japan has sarsaparilla now, it's similar to root beer.

Root beer tastes like "mouth wash" and was good decongestant.MackyD tried it when they came to the UK and it wasn't popular.

Is anyone going to tell Pete he can just buy banana flavoring (and better root beer than A&W) or will that just get him into trouble?
