I'm glad I'm just a casual player with no desire to compete. I do push to improve, but I'm not worried about how I am compared to someone else. My goal is to suck slightly less this month than I did last month. I haven't improved for quite some time but I just keep pushing on. I do see what you're saying, having friends who competed, then had life happen, want to get back into it and are like thrown back multiple levels because "my old tricks ain't gonna cut it for competition now". It's exactly like you said.

To me I see progress in yoyo as a control metric, rather than a tricks checklist. Control is also displayed in consistency, speed, and style. So if you're doing the same trick but with added style/speed throws you off then that indicates some gap for improvement in control.

Right there are some beginners out there tryna learn as much tricks as they can rather than improving their flow and style. Like they can do 2.5 hooks yet they play so sloppy

Even though I've been doing it super casually for awhile now, I still work on the absolute basics a lot just for fun. Sometimes I still miss the string or the string doesn't catch for the bind so I have to flow back into it to try to again. Im by no means amazing in comparison to other yoyo-ers but I've handed my yoyo to some friends and family and they are barely able to throw it to begin with, so I'm a god in the eyes of regular people apparently.

I never got off the ground tbh. Idk if it was a lack of patience or what but I never really saw much improvement past the beginner phase even tho I used to be really into it

Everyone learns at different rates. It took me a long time to learn how to throw a plastic walmart Duncan yoyo and the first time I threw a metal one I could barely throw it nor bind it. It took me 3 years of doing Algebra nearly every day and I only started to understand it by the end of the 3rd year. The first time I pitched a baseball I did it so badly that it went over the fence that's specifically meant to keep you from over throwing it. It took me a couple hours before I learned where to even begin, and I still have terrible accuracy.

I sponsor based on how entertaining someone is, instead of basing sponsorship off of winning contests and click heavy players. If the tricks click, great, but as an artist, I value entertaining tricks. Which brings up your video on how horizontal brain twisters used to score. They're highly entertaining and should totally click. You inspired me to get into yoyo with your N12 review. Seeing you do horizontal was the selling point. I hadn't thrown since the Duncan mosquito lol and I didn't know how to throw a break away. But I always thought it'd be cool if someday they ran bigger bearings and maybe had performance capabilities of playing on a horizontal plane. When I decided to look into modern yoyos a few years back, your reviews came up and they were super inspiring. Wishing you much success in the yoyo industry. You're a valued member of the community and an inspiration to many people.

I recently purchased a deviant yo-yo and now the spacing in between the bearing is not even all the way around and it’s vibrating like crazy what should I do? Should I get a new bearing or a whole new yo-yo? Also, it’s like a 1-2/10 for a vibration rating.
