If a vehicle is so heavily modified, to the point that it carries only two original from-the-factory components, is it now deemed an imposter? A fake? Or is its identity more than the sum of its parts? Matt Farah tests that theory on this week’s MODIFIED with a deep-dive into AI Design’s first-ever EV build: A World War II-era Willys Jeep. The vehicle looks the part of a classic Willys, but with nearly every piece replaced, has it lost its soul?

As he explained this vehicle had been rebodied back in the 60’s. I’m sure there were tons of other modifications and updates throughout its life as most of these Jeeps had. It wasn’t until recently that anyone was interested in preserving them in their original states. So the fact is this was the perfect candidate for extensive modifications as there wasn’t much originally anyway.
