According to surveys, one in four African Americans owns a gun, a number that has risen sharply in recent years. African Americans are disproportionately more often the victims of shootings, including those by police. Many are turning to gun clubs as they learn how to handle their weapons.
"No-one is coming to save us," says Anubis Heru. “We have to save ourselves." Heru co-founded 1770 Armory, the first black gun club in the US state of Colorado. His goal is to teach members of the Black community how to properly use firearms. At shooting ranges, he demonstrates what's important when picking up a pistol or assault rifle. And attendance at his courses is booming. More than one in three white US citizens owns a gun, according to surveys. Some fear that if gun-ownership in the Black community rises, social tensions could escalate faster than they already have done, leading to a possible rise in shootings. Anubis Heru doesn't accept that. He says that given the situation, Black people need weapons to defend themselves.

As a white American, I am glad to see these brothers and sisters learning self-defense, gun safety, and respect for the legal use of firearms. Everything that was said about self-defense in this video is true. When seconds count, the police are only 20+ minutes away, or they dont' show up at all. No one can protect you, your family, your home, or your business ,but you. These people are not a militia, they are private citizens that have the right of self defense guaranteed to them by the US Constitution and several Supreme Court decisions.

I believe in their rights to bear arms to it doesn’t matter what color you are I believe in the Second Amendment when I look at gun control I think it’s nothing more than a racist stain on the past. It’s amazing that liberals would go as far to be anti-gun then again throughout history I’ve read anyone who’s anti-gun is either an idiot or a psychotic tyrant. The Democratic Party or as I called the jackass party is the pride definition of wanting to disarm everyone and speaking of which if you look at the past all their gun control laws they passed or actually directed towards African-Americans anyone of color. Made them easy targets to the Ku Klux Klan that literally were able to hunt down anyone who was unarmed and the same goes for the fact that they’re trying to disarm Law by and get on those like these people right here if they want to go after people with guns they need to go out for criminals not law biting citizens were sick and tired of it and I respect with these people are doing I’m with them all the way.

My dad taught me the same way about guns as this man is doing. When I was this little girl's age, my dad strictly forbids me from touching guns, but most importantly he said "don't touch the trigger." When got old enough for him to teach me, he instructed me to keep my fingers away from the trigger when not shooting, always keep my gun on safety, all of the above. I had never had an accident with a gun because of his teachings.

As an American myself, I consider the guy highlighted in the video to be very paranoid. Unless you live in particularly dangerous areas in the US (think poor, gang infested areas), the threat of encountering gun violence is pretty low to be honest. This guy is afraid of “white militias” coming after him. That is 100% paranoia. This guy just enjoys the feeling of power that comes along with having guns, and he is trying to justify his obsession.

George Carlin was right - don't join any clubs that forbid you from wearing a hat, and don't join any clubs that force you to wear a hat. But the second amendment is independent of these groupthink types. All citizens are "militia" i.e. a common pool of manpower from which to draw during wartime. Just because you throw fatigues on don't make you a soldier. So I wouldn't be in a rush to lump gunowners in with the survivalist types, no matter how much Walking Dead gets watched.

You edited your comment and it still came out wrong. That alone shows your definition of knowledge. There is no such a thing as ''the right direction" for guns, if there is no better laws implemented on who can own guns. You're obviously not American, so just so you know, anyone can buy it (no real background checks) overlapping the 2nd amendment. The military industrial complex (the people that makes the guns you buy) have a string doll named NRA in here. Instead of offering you protection, as it is your right to have, they're offering fear. It is the perfect business model. -> Let any dumb idiot buy guns, let the idiots kill each other and you, scare the innocents, makes the innocent buy guns. You want to protect your family, fine, buy the guns. But don't expect it to miraculously make a safer world, because that's just your conservationist delusion, given of what I just described. Before you have a heart attack cursing me next, no, I'm not saying owning guns is bad. It is a safety tool. @@linmal2242 There was a court case a few years back where a police department was sued because it did not respond to a specific 911 call. The complainant felt the state owed the citizen who made the call a police response to the call and sued because there had been no response by the police. In other words, the person who called in an emergency to the police was ignored. The courts found that the police were NOT required to respond; essentially it was at the discretion of the police whether they wanted to respond. If you cannot count on the police to respond, you have to rely on your self and that may mean buying a firearm or other weapon (and hopefully learning how to use it as safely as possible). If the government forbids you to own a firearm, as you are proposing, then you are telling people that they are at the mercy of the bad people in the world and that you, the government, will NOT help them and, not only that, you will PUNISH them for defending themselves if they use a gun. @@TwoBears3 the narrative of the story is absolutely misguided and inflammatory. But that's the nature of the "story," as it's framed in this piece. They must sensationalize it in order to make it "interesting/ entertaining/ consumable" to the viewers. They make it seem as though gun ownership and proper training is a new trend amongst black american communities. It's not. They make it seem as though black people have recently made a decision to arm ourselves because of the increase in crime and police-involved shootings/ killing of black people. They paint a picture that "if black people arm and train themselves, armed criminal and police encounters won't be as deadly because they'll respect you if you have guns too..." That's the WRONG message, not to mention a very DANGEROUS message. I'm a black man who grew up with countless guns in my house and family because hunting was a primary means of putting meat on the table. Rare but actual occasions occurred where my father had to draw his gun on a person because he was beating up his girlfriend in the parking lot of our store. I've been an NRA Basic Firearms Safety Instructor and Range Safety Officer for over 5 years. Prior to 2019 I did see an increase in women, lgbtq and other minorities looking for firearms training and purchasing their first firearm. The one hesitation I do still see among the black community is " If I have a gun on me, I'll get shot by the cops. " and it's hard to argue against that view point when law abiding black citizens with the legal right to possess a firearm have been shot by police. The increase in crime on the street and in the home have swayed some to realize that protecting yourself is your responsibility first. Currently 2022 our society is clearly headed down a dangerous path, politicians pushing for more gun control will not lessen the threat from those with criminal intent. Simply telling citizens to be aware of the dangers but make regulations that leave them unarmed only does a disservice to those in the community looking protect themselves and the ones they love.

The MOST CONFUSING CONCERN was brought to the surface here in THIS comment ... Owning a gun ( THAT’S LEGAL ) CAN lead to ones own demise by law enforcement... this 2nd amendment was NOT written with US in mind , and to THIS VERY DAY they feel WE have NO RIGHT to carry legal or not ! How many times have we seen the scenario where WE are shot to our demise with out them knowing if we have the proper documents to have it ... And time and they get away with it .But from where I see we are headed with security guards with guns IN THE CHURCH and NOW they are taking about ARMING TEACHERS in the CLASS ROOM not to mention these OPEN CARRY laws it’s just BAZZAR the road we are traveling down in this country.. but I suppose we’ve been here before if we are to believe the western movies on tv when supposedly everyone was carrying ( accept BLACK FOLKS )

I disagree: banning guns only works if EVERYONE in your society is decent. Sweden has one of the strictest gun laws in the world. But still the criminals gets more and more guns, heavy automatic weapons all the time. Even hand Granades and RPGs. The Number of shootings by criminal gangs, sets new records every year. More and more people gets ☠️! And more and more innocent people gets ☠️ or wounded. We have the most sh00tings in all of the EU, AND the strictest gun laws at the same time. But the politicians has no answers, and they just want to take the legal guns away. Even though the criminals get their guns smuggled from Balkan and from other war torn areas. Legal gun owners in Sweden are almost never involved in criminality. I would say that they are the most law abiding people in the Swedish society. To get a license for a hand gun, to only keep at home or at the range, can take years, of active membership in a gun club. And several tests, before you can get a license. But you can’t keep a gun on you, with that license. Only at home in a gun safe or at the range. Only police, military, and special guards can have a guns on them. So Americans should protect the 2A, because the criminals will always get their hands on guns, even thou guns are legal or not. Don’t let anyone take your right to self defense away from you. Because the police can and will not help you all the time. (And what about the AR-15? (Someone said AR-14🤪), it’s not a heavy assault weapon in 5.56! People wanting to ban just this type of rifle, makes no sense at all. People talking about banning these, probably never held such a gun in their hands??) Taking legal guns away, will not stop anything. But keep guns away from criminals. And criminals will be criminals. In London, criminals use knifes instead of guns, when the police took the illegal guns away. Just look at the numbers of stabbings, in London. And Google gang sh00tings in Sweden. The number of gang crimes , are relative to the number of immigrants coming to Sweden. These type of crimes did not exist in the 70s-80s, before Sweden opened its border and got hundreds of immigrant ghettos. And of course not all immigrants are criminals, you always Have to say that every time, when talking about these issues. Sweden now has the highest number of sh00tings and b0mb1ngs, in all of the EU!!!! (We Swedes does not have the same right to self defense, as Americans do. If a burglar gets hurt braking into your house, you can get sued. By the burglar. Our system sucks)!!

America has five racial categories pushed by the media and government based on skin colour. These categories were invented by the government based off Eugenics. There are many ethnicities and nationalities around the world that have dark skin, some of which are not considered African. African American is a name chosen by them in the 1980's to identify themselves as a unique group whose ancestors were enslaved by the Democratic Party before the American Civil War (1860-1864). The ancestors of most African Americans were imported before 1807 when the importation of slaves was outlawed by President Thomas Jefferson. African Americans are a pan-ethnic group that share a common heritage.
