'An Evening With Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak) had 9 tracks initially. Three months later they added just one bonus track. People complained it was too short. What they failed to mention was that every song was a winner, no fillers. These extremely long albums are for people who have a short attention span. They skip around, barely listening to the songs, looking for a hype beat, instead of the melody or the lyrics.

8 out of the 9 tracks. Even though I think "The Girl is Mine" is a good song, it almost flips the album on its head. But that's a minor detail, I strongly agree with you nonetheless

@@saintkevinofficial Yeah if I had to call a song my least favorite, it would be that one, especially being the lead single. But it is the shortest song on the album so at least it’s not wasting your time.

I like for all the dogs a lot (yeah i know, seems crazy) but basically I have to pick if I'm gonna listen to 1st or 2nd half of the album because even liking it I've had enough by like 40 minutes or so. Or just shuffling it works too but I'm used to the track order by now I rarely do that

i just saw underscores and brakence in concert recently and they were both so fucking sick live and SOOO intimate. i definitely appreciate more intimate, meaningful projects like theirs for sure sick video dude

I might be in the minority here, but I actually prefer longer albums. I've noticed that some of my favorite tracks are the ones often labeled as 'filler' by other listeners, so having a longer album means there's a bigger selection of songs to enjoy. Also, I'd argue that the concept of longer albums isn't as recent as some suggest. For example, The Beetle's White Album is 30 songs. And for hip--hop, All Eyez on Me, Life After Death, Speakerbox/The Love Below, Wu-tang forever, Art of War, The Blueprint 2, Diplomatic Immunity, are all great double albums that were released long before streaming. In fact, the average hiphop album in the early 2000s was usually 16-22 tracks. With that said, I don't usually listen to an album front to back unless it's on in the background so for those wanting a cohesive listening experience, I do understand why they might prefer a tighter project.

i feel you on the conversation being mundane but in the video i showed albums are almost 2x as long now as they used to be
