Scott He literally called the video "Spending 1£ in 24 hours" he spend more than that on any of the items he got. Even if he only challenged himself to get food for 1£, it just shows that he isn't even trying to empathize with the people that live the reality of having so little money.
@RoastedPixelz6 жыл бұрын
He's not trying to empathize full stop. He was going off a trend that (I think) London Hacks started where people try and get a breakfast, dinner and lunch for £1. But just because Alfie does it people uproar. Being jealous of his £1.5m house and lavish lifestyle doesn't mean you have to criticise everything he does whilst someone does it before him and its ok?

I'd honestly be surprised if the staff who gave him a whole box of donuts (double layered, no less) didnt get a huge ticking off or sacked. A manager is entitled to give away freebies, even then it would be rare, and he'd likely pay for it himself to avoid losing out. These shops are always in big competition with each other for profits, like it's a daily thing. So to give those expensive things away willy nilly might have gone unnoticed but alfie filmed the staff, and since twitter has been messaging the company complaining. they were clearly just staff, not a manager, so alfie very likely got them into big trouble by not blurring out their faces or at least not filming their faces. Silly man.

Alfie is worse than that. I used to like him until he stole a fan's idea and financial gained from it, giving her zero credit! Basically a girl designed a beanie, chose the colours & font & tweeted it to Alfie saying she was going to make him this hat. He completely ignored her, but he did save the pic, cropped the writing & tweeted it asking fans to tell him the name of the font used. Bare in mind, he's still ignoring this girl who is a massive fan of his. He didn't ask her the font! After receiving the font name from other fans, he deleted that post of her work to hide the evidence. The hat appeared very quickly in his store & sold out the same day which he boasted about, again on twitter! Complete scumbag! He didn't aknowledge her for her idea, her work, he didn't thank her, or gave her any credit. He didn't even like her post. It's honestly disgusting. I tried to stand up for her, but she was so timid and such a big fan & after initially complaining mildly, his fans squished her, so she said it didn't matter and she is STILL a fan to this day, after he ripped her off. Who does that. Awful. Just g oogle 'alfie deyes stole fan hat idea' to see all the tweets and how it went down. And that's just one tiny thing, I could give u lot more examples of ways both zoe and alfie screwed over innocent people who r way more talented than they ever will be, for big financial gain. And I mean big. Hate 'em, frankly. Thanks for these vids, scrapping the surface so you are, though!!

Alfie: “May or may not have done some shopping in town” Me: *on the verge on flipping my desk and throwing my laptop out the window* I used to love Alfie and Zoe, grew out of watching vloggers, and seeing them bragging about their riches years later is absolutely disgusting and disrespectful. Litch The Shinigami I love the way you look at things. Being grateful for what you have is the key to happiness. Bragging like these people do is arrogant and I don’t know what they are trying to achieve? Are they trying to clap back at “haters” or do they just want people to think that they are happy... because they’re rich? I don’t get it...

When vloggers first became a thing they were seen as refreshing because they were real people living real lives. I remember an article in a mag which claimed that teens were no longer interested in celebs because they would rather see real people on KZbin. Now the vloggers are just as privileged and out of touch. If I am going to watch some overprivileged nitwit I'd rather watch a celeb as at least they are glamorous and move in interesting circles! It does astonish me that Alfie is so idiotic that it didn't occur to him that mentioning a shopping haul in a video of this kind would attract criticism.

LauraBristol Absolutely. When I was in school I found my life to be so boring and repetitive that I enjoyed watching blogs and live in their world for a while, but now... It’s not the same. They don’t understand the concept of having no money at all. My partner and I have subsisted on flour and water for days before. A typical meal is pasta and tinned tomato, or some kind of vegetable soup. Homelessness is a massive issue in Brighton, and food poverty is one across the UK. He does touch on some interesting points though. Like that feeling you can’t leave your house, absolutely. Except my house isn’t a mansion it’s a flat with high rent that would probably fit in his master bedroom. Jack is absolutely correct, these people just don’t have any concept of having low income, they are oblivious to the strife of millions of others in this country alone. We live in the same city, sure, but it’s a different world.

Jared Newbery I’m American so my only insight into English life is through Alfie & Zoe. I thought that was how everyone lived. Nice houses, nicer vacations. I’m sorry to hear it isn’t. Thanks for giving me insight into how the rest of England I don’t see lives.
@JayNewberyy6 жыл бұрын
KimOlson1993 it’s okay I know the media can give a warped view of life in different places. It’s hard to find exact numbers but: About 5-6% are the elite, earning big money, Zoë and Alfie are in the top 1% of that elite. Somewhere between 25-30% are middle class: high personal money, good jobs, comfortable lives, etc. 15% are transitory, coming from a poorer background but with better paid jobs. ~49% fit into a very broad lower class, from service industry workers to ‘traditional’ style workers. Included in that is about 15% that fall into the poorest of the poor. So, most people have it okay, some people are on the up, some people live their lives in comfort, some are richer than all hell, and some are poorer than you’d believe.
@ItsKimOlson6 жыл бұрын
Jared Newbery Wow! 😮 So are Zoe & Alfie like the Kim & Kanye of England??? (Idk a better comparison. Beyoncé & Jay-Z?) I really didn’t realize they were THAT rich! I’d probably fall in the “middle class.”
@JayNewberyy6 жыл бұрын
Not even close, Z&A have a net worth of ~£3 million, whereas B&JZ have a net worth of $1.16 billion. If Z&A are the top 1-2% then B&JZ are the top 0.1% Worth noting a difference between the US and UK. ~1.5 million people in the US are millionaires, compared to only ~800,000 in the UK. (in the US there are 540 billionaires, compared to 104 in the UK) I grew up what used to be called upper-working class, now referred to as 'transitory'. Parents grew up poor but got better-paying jobs (and a college education). But times are hard, plus me and my siblings don't have large parental pots of money to fall back on.

It's also worth highlighting the fact that he only drinks bottled water. In one video (I can't remember when) his weekly Ocado delivery arrives with several multi-packs of plastic bottled water - and he says that he only drinks bottled water because he doesn't like tap water. We're fortunate enough to live in a country with some of the purest tap water on the planet, and yet while the rest of us are trying to cut down on our plastic usage (y'know, because it's killing the environment...) he openly jokes about how many bottles they get through a week! As someone with as much influence as him, he should not be promoting the frivolous use of single-use plastics. I don't think he's a bad person - he's just incredibly disconnected from the rest of the world. I cringed so much when he was talking about all the things he bought for himself on his 'living on £1 day.'
@mugiworld6 жыл бұрын

I think that Alfie has completely lost touch with how the rest of the country lives and doesn’t appreciate the challenges that people have to go through on a daily basis just to put food on the table. He’s been so absorbed in this privileged lifestyle which he has made for himself that he’s become blinded to real life problems and not just “ah shite I can’t use my ice machine because I have £3 filtered water in there”. Like you said I don’t think he meant any harm but his ignorance definitely shows through this video, especially by how much he’s laughing about he can’t have a protein shake or has to use a specific tap because the other water is too costly.

I'm glad that Shane Dawson is killing it and Alfie and Zoella are starting to fall. This shows just how stuck up he is. I don't have a problem with the idea of this video. People have done it correctly without coming off as narcisstic snobs that rely so heavily on expensive things that tap water is offensive to him and is like a chore for him.

I don't know how you can be 24 and can be so blind to what you are doing is so wrong. This is what happens when young people get rich too fast. The level of ignorance in his video hurt my brain

Not to mention that Brighton has one of the highest rates of homelessness in the UK, i go to uni there and you can’t leave the house without someone asking you for change, people who just £1 means the difference between eating or not for the day

Meg Corner my thoughts exactly - it's incredibly poor taste when up and down the country the homelessness crisis is soaring. (Remember when homeless people were moved on so that the royal wedding procession wouldn't see them in Windsor? God.)

“Think of Nala” I’m actually dead 😂 okay I’ve been a supporter of Zoe and Alfie for probably close to 6 years and wow.... thank you for this. They say they don’t want to talk about money because it’s none of our business but they constantly talk about money now. Where’s the substance behind the sweatshirts and body lotions! They originally made money on their originality and now they make money because they’re pretty and have lifestyles that give people a 20 minute escape that allow them to feel for a second like they have rich friends. They aren’t our friends. They’re profiting off of our poverty now. Crazy.

I used love Zoe and Alfie but video has really shown me how bigheaded they are, the advent calender was very bad, but making a fun challenge out of something that is really serious and people have to do this everyday is so insensitive

Alisa V it's not something we're trying to make you ashamed of, it's just that people who are well off tend to act like they understand what it's like not to be... And it's just not the case as evidenced in Alfie's vlog
@sharonmaire6 жыл бұрын
Alisa V no one is telling your to be ashamed and no one is receiving hate for just being well off. It’s the ignorance that comes with it that many, not all, well off people have because they don’t know the struggle. I’m very glad your family was well off I wouldn’t wish poverty on my worst enemy but Alfie was very clearly ignorant about the whole thing and acting like not having basic luxuries is the end of the world.

I unsubbed Zoe & Alfie a while back for being snobs. I'm glad Jack said that, it's true! A year ago I hurt my back & couldn't work, neither could I prepare my food. A lifesaver was my local petrol station next door that sold meal deal sandwiches for 3 pounds inc a drink and a snack, so I could afford it & they are high in calories so it meant I was surviving. I had 1 every day, it was a life saver. Either that or warm soup. I blame companies who pamper and indulge their every whim, like Chewton Glen Luxury treehouses, who give Zalfie free everything in return for vids. So one day they were traveling there (btw prices start at 3k *per night* you could stay in the Maldives cheaper than that!! ) with the sister, bf, his parents, all free, when they stopped off at a petrol station and realized they had skipped lunch. They were looking at those sandwiches like they were FILTH. They turned their noses up. Zoe wouldn't even look, Alfie was like no.. this is awful. Honestly it broke my heart, bcos what is he expecting from a sandwich?! In the end he got a boxed cheese treat & nothing for Zoe, at the tree houses they immediately ordered the poshest pizzas I ever saw. It was legit things like Wild Broccoli, Radicchio, Dorset Blue Vinney, Flambards Egg, Violet Artichoke, Pine Nuts. That was one! And rocket and stuff sprinkled on. That's when I realized how they live, and how they're unable to remain humble and appreciative of anything below that. Honestly, it stinks. They don't even have a talent! I can understand a singer etc getting a big ego as they're talented but these two are useless even with basic tasks. It's unbelievable how dense they are. They are also insanely wasteful, jamie oliver gave them a huge top of the range BBQ free for the mansion, they left it dirty all winter so Alfie had to ring his father to bring his tiny portable bbq, which they placed on top of the dirty one so they could eat bbq. That's just one tiny example. Btw that tree house place personalized about a billion things for them, inc chocolates, bath robes, slippers etc in the same font as their yt logos (which they don't do for all) AND even a frigging huge welcome mat for outside their mansion front door, with their name on it & told them to take it home. No joke. I understand someone like Ninja getting Red Bull to sponsor him, he is skilled. Zalfie were sponsored by The Sims and spent 20 mins trying to figure out why they couldn't go upstairs. They'd blocked the way with a pot plant. That's all they had to move. Instead they scratched their heads for ages then finally rebuild that part of the house. haha. Buffoons. Anyway social blade shows both zoe and alfie mostly red, as people flock to unsub. Finally seen the light!!

I feel like every time i watched Alfie and Zoe’s video i feel insecure about my life. Like i need more money, to feel happy. When, actually its not like that at all. I feel ungrateful with what i had and that is so wrong. If young kid, continue watched them, im scared that they will think only lavish lifestyle make them happy. Just my opinion.
