Indeed. It took me years and years to gain the weight. Now I too have to be patient and change not only my body but my way of being towards food and health. Since stay at home I have gone down about 2 1/2 sizes. I don’t weigh myself but I figure about 30 lbs.

After years of doing many things to lose, finally Keto/IF came into my life. If I said weight loss is slow, thats an understatement. I base success this way: Not gaining pounds per week Not eating mine and my families leftovers Not needing or wanting to eat every chance I get Make good and consistent food choices. That's it. Lastly, my clothes tell the story.

Also you should adopt a longer fasting regiment, like 2-3 days or something. That will really help with your insulin sensitivity which in term will boost your overall metabolism. As insulin sensitivity increases glucose, fatty acids and amino acids oxidation speed (it uses up energy faster, in term making you lose fat faster).

This video came at a great time. I had a major "fall off the wagon" month. Went on a team retreat and then had to go out of town for 2 weeks. Now I'm bloating and miserable. Thank god I only gained 6.6 lbs. It could have been worse! On my way back! Thanks for posting this video Dr. Berg. It was a great wake up call for me. @kei kei, ain't THAT the truth! Actually, I heard a doctor years ago say that it's good to get exercise and stay active, but it's not going to make that much difference in your weight, that your diet is THE most important thing and I can see that now. I think one of the reasons people like me haven't been able to stick to our weight loss goals is that we were restricting too much food and thinking we had to kill ourselves working out every day! It's much more pleasant THIS way!

I started on my low carb, clean eating journey on 11/3/19, the weight loss has been slow but steady. I weighed today, 12/14/19, and have only lost 10 pounds exactly, which averages out to about 2 lbs. a week. But with just 10 lbs. gone, my blood sugar is normal and I have way more energy. I've studied the keto diet, which is similar, but I wouldn't like the side effects of ketosis. I can see myself eating this way from now on. Sure, there a some things I miss, but I don't dwell on it. I feel like I've eaten enough of the bad stuff over the years to last me a lifetime!

Can you do a video on what to do when you reach your goal? Like do you do a few weeks on keto then a week eating whatever you want or should you be switching up your macros or off of keto completely and then back on when you put a few lbs on rinse and repeat. lots of great info about losing the weight, but keeping it off and not going too far under your weight goal by staying on keto doesnt really get addressed.

I would assume being thinner my stamina for exercise and putting on muscle would be better. Not sure why people who loose weight don't try to regain a good amount of muscle mass. Start doing tablespoon of cider vinegar everyday. Stick with that and the keto will come naturally. I started ACV at Christmas no diet change. I just eased into wanting less sugar etc... Keto was easy to get into. I did binge the other day on apple juice. I drank about two cups out of the box. Thats really bad!!! Lol So much for abstinence eh? Fresh Ground flax helps with the bread craving. It's bulky like bread. Just tips that are helping me.

I feel best on 3 meals a day I have spent a week adjusting my macros to eating more fat and less carbs and it has worked wonders for my cravings! I would crave sugar every day a vicious cycle which would leave me feeling down because I just felt unsatisfied after every damm meal but after watching your videos and implementing more fat in my life I suspected I had insulin resistance. I train 5 times a week which consists of really intense lifting and HIIT and I feel I have more energy of course this has varied some days I’m more stronger but in general reducing carbs has even helped me eat more vegetables my previous bodybuilding diet was always BREAD and wheat seriously I was addicted to bread and sugar but FAT is what will keep you going loving these videos they are changing lives what annoys me is the misinformed information people give on this platform but you keep it real!

I lost 24 lbs in 6 weeks. Then suddenly when I thought I knew what I was doing, I started gaining water weight in pounds. At first I thought it was the salt in my raw cheddar cheese and my kalamata olives that I had enjoyed the day before. I stopped them but the couple of pounds was still an issue I had swollen ankles and feet again. It hurt to walk. I had added in nuts to my diet during probably week 4 so on week 8 when I swelled up it didn't dawn on my that I had eaten more of toasted pumpkin seeds and smoked almonds. I had been grinding them up in a blend of nuts which varied each time I shopped and brought home more or less of different nuts which I ground and blended and thouroly enjoyed. As the inflamation increased I it dawned on my that the toasted pumpkin seeds and the smoked almonds that I had purchased in the bulk section of my coop/healthfood store had added ingredients that I had not checked. (they aren't labeled on the bulk bins) It took probably a week to find someone working who knew how to find the original containers and read the ingredients. OMGosh I had been eating GMO canola oil, and hydrolyzed soy and corn protein plus other iffy ingredients when I had suddenly packed on the extra weight that wouldn't budge. NO wonder I had inflated like a ball. I had gained 5-6lbs of water weight which I then took 1500 mg of bromelain 3 times over the couse of 72 hours plus I drank a good amount of water to flush out all of that bad stuff and I got that water weight back off of me. The good news is while it looked like my weightloss was stalled because I had gained pounds and even inches now that the waterweight is back off of me I am suddenly a little lighter on the scale than my previous lowest number and my measurements are 1/2 inch smaller from my previous smaller size. (Now that all of the inflamation has passed out of me.) While I was puffed up with inflamation, I continued to do mild exercising (as I could- it was harder because of the paiin) but it still helped my ankles to feel better to move them and get the circulation flowing despite how swollen they were, So don't give up, but pay attention to what foods you ate last if you suddenly stall or seem to go up in pounds or inches so that you can cut those particular foods out of your eating plan.

Dr Berg, you have helped and inspired me tremendously, and I'm very thankful with all the extremely helpful and insightful information you provide the world with. I've been strictly keto for 6 weeks and had amazing results in the beginning, but now I feel I've hit a plateau. It's extremely difficult, and sometimes frustrating for me to follow every guideline because of my job. I'm a truck driver and I'm always on the road, I'm at home maybe 30 hours at a time a week. And well, it's difficult to say the least, to juggle everything one has to do in one week all in one day. So Dr Berg, with the risk of asking too much, can you create a video for myself and other people like me who struggle with limited time and availability of selecting the best, more appropriate foods, on the road or by other means difficult to find? Once again, thank you so much for helping myself, and thousands more like me make better decisions on improving our quality of life.

My issue is that I don't believe in working out if you're not eating properly (if you're trying to lose) because you will forever be frustrated. But the reason I cannot lose weight is definitely food. I love fried carbs, lol. And I have a serious issue with the texture of vegetables. I've tried various veggies in different ways (boiled, baked, sauted). The texture and the taste is a no no for me.

Alexandra Boone that is happened to me when my fat intake was too low. Make some tea and add a 1-2 TB of unsalted kerrygold butter to it. That will kill the craving and will keep you feeling fuller longer.

+Alexandra Boone Cravings could also mean that you are missing some minerals. Dr. Berg talks about craving sugar and needing more potassium in some of his videos. (Potassium Citrate) But you might need more magnesium (citrate) or other electrolytes also. The minerals can get grabbed up and washed out of you from lots of increased fiber and water intake. We need the fiber ahd the water so that we don't get constipated-- but we also need all of our required minerals. Just like you I was totally rocking the Intermittant fasting without any hunger or cravings and suddenly my stomach started growling at bedtime and again in the morning for breakfast. I was scratching my head, how could this be? What had changed? What was I doing wrong? I hadn't imagined my 24 lb weight loss, this diet was working for me, but it seemed to have come to an abrupt halt. Unwittingly I think that I had knocked myself out of ketosis and my body was looking for fuel. (Hence the hunger.) I was eating healthy nuts, so I thought, instead I was unknowingly consuming soy protien, msg, maltodextrin, and gmo canola oil the othe ingredients besides the nuts. I repeatedly purchased them and was eating them every day (I ate a lot of them because I thought that they were a perfectly good Keto snack, the more I ate the more I wanted them the next day.) , I put on atleast 5 lbs of puffy waterweight and I found that I was much hungrier, even for most of a week after the last time I ate the nuts until I got the water weight completely off of me. I was suddenly needing to add in a third light meal (of buttery vegetables or cheese or olives) I was starving at bedtime. I couldn't figure out why I suddenly couldn't go from dinner to lunch time when I had been effortlessly doing that from practically the beginning of starting to eat Keto and doing IF for 18 hours. Finally the lightbulb went off for me and I contacted the store to find out what the ingredient list was for the toasted and smoked nuts (from the bulk section without ingredients list) that I had been enjoying daily (little bit more then more then more) for a couple of weeks just prior to packing on the water-weight pounds. I learned that the nuts had really bad ingredients. I didn't realize it but I was probably out of ketosis while my body was holding onto all that water weight. When I first started this diet and was eating correctly the water weight just came right off of me. Now that the waterweight is GONE again , I am suddenly able to comfortably Intermittant fast again. Remember this also, too much protein can kick you out of ketosis, while too little protein may cause muscle loss and increased appetite So there are a few ideas to consider and analyze in your diet, hidden msg, soy protein, hidden carbs, low on certain or all minerals, and not enough fat.

The best part is that if you do this gradual, and learn the science, you will find you no longer crave all that garbage in a short amount of time. It will take some time, but it gets easier with the knowledge Dr. Berg has.

I have will power but in 3 weeks on a low carb diet my weight has not moved - in fact up a few ounces. I have kept to clean foods. I do not feel the need for more foods. I am T2 diabetic and have an increased blood glucose every morning 9. I go to bed with my numbers being 5.3 but on waking the level has gone up. Today I ate egg and bacon around 1 pm (no breakfast). Supper - homemade ha,burger , cabbage, salad and a Keto bun. Snack was 3 strawberries and 4 tbsp heavy cream. It’s very frustrating for me but I am still trying in hope!

I was in the same boat. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes on July 6, 2018. Started low carb/high fat and swimming every second day. I didn't lose anything - pounds or inches - for the first two months. I was so discouraged. Then suddenly I started losing weight, and have dropped 14 pounds in seven weeks. But those first two months were so disheartening. Just keep at it. I don't know if some people's bodies just take a while to adjust or what. As for the increased blood glucose readings when you wake up I believe that's called "dawn phenomenon" or a "liver dump." Your liver dumps glucose into your system when you're fasting to help give you energy. I got these high spikes too but with time and my diabetes medications the numbers decreased. Keep going.

My understanding is that your body pulls fat from your liver and around your organs before the it does fat in other areas. I am on week 9 and my scale does not move but my measurements do and I feel so much better. My solution, I threw my scale in the trash! My sugars run good and I feel great! So that scale can not define my journey! I experience the dawn rise in glucose but over time as your body heals it will improve (again this is my understanding, not an MD). That is what my hopes are! That one day my my weight will begin moving. Stay the course you are doing great! I have heard Dr Berg say that getting healthy is our goal and weight lose is a bonus to getting healthy! I really love that perspective!

@@GK-bi6deI'm in month #7 now. My labs are amazing. My T2 diabetes is reversed, my blood pressure and cholesterol have normalized. I'm down 34 pounds now but I still plateau. Right now I haven't lost anything since Christmas. That just seems to be my weight loss style - plateau, lose weight, plateau, lose weight. Frustrating, but at least I'm not gaining. Good luck! Just keep going.

GeRD and other issues will not allow consumption of so many foods for some ppl: No peppers, no onions, no garluc, no spices, no tomatoes, ketchup, sauces, no cream cheese, no eggs, no mint, no chocolate, no coffee, no soda, no cream, very little cheese, no fried food, no can soup, no supplements like vitamins or any type of helpful product, no desserts... so choices are so limited and bland. Also a challenge to find quality food in my neighborhood (nice area too) and is usually a listing battle trying to find quality and freshness.

Doc I'm going freaking crazy. I just looked at my data for the past 30 days. I'm averaging 1431 calories per day. Average 26 grams of carbohydrates per day. I'm doing intermittent fasting of at least 16 hours but mostly omad. My average glucose levels for the past 30 days have been 86 (I have a continuous glucose monitor). Previously, when I did keto, if I would keep my blood sugar under 100 for the entire day, I would wake up a pound lighter. I have no words to describe my frustration.

I do it some dairy, like I have 2 tab of cream in decaf coffee, after watching a ton of Dr Bergs videos, I think a lot of it has to do with sleep! I get very warm at night, I have changed to different sheets I have even changed matresses! I only eat twice a day, no snacks, I might be eating a little too much protein I am going to try to stick to 3 oz. I have back and hip problems so the interval training I just can't do right now. I own a small ranch so I am outside a lot, and kinda isolated so when he talks about low tolerance for people? It made me laugh cause I am just like that! lol! I think I have dieted too much too! When I turned 45 I Started gaining weight and have taken it off twice, but this time its not coming off, I did have a loss, my dad passed in 2016, and. I started packing on weight again, lesson learned! no comfort eating! But, also I stopped eating bread a pasta yrs ago, and went gluten free thinking it was the gluten! WRONG! I did atkins back in 03 and lost a lot and looked awesome, but yea this has been hard, I did find a keto dr, but won't be able to see him till 10/25! I just thought I could kick it till I saw him. Its just frusrating to see my husband loose so much and me not much at all. thank you for your input!
