i have thousands of hours spent on APB, mainly from collage years when we played it with my roommate 24/7. Its a paradox that part of what kept me playing (and ocassionaly still does to this day) is how small and "dead" the community was. You know everyone, so everything is personal.... you loose and it feels bad. you wont quit because that a-hole you hate won. so you play one more and beat that a-hole. It feels good, so you play one more..... and the vicious cycle continues.....

Armas guns are not overpowered and APB isn’t pay to win. Also most Armas weapons are in the Joker store now. If you think Armas guns are overpowered, you’re probably just bad. The only overpowered gun is the PMG and guess what? It’s one of the first guns U unlock. But other than that this video is a great example of why APB keeps players and is unique. I’m sorry if I come off as a jerk.

Fun memories from this game. i supported this game like crazy had almost every pack, every kit etc. the only op guns where the ATAC, OCA whisper, and Troublemaker but my fav gun was the agro tech rifle, was a nice balance between a rifle and a smg and also the joker. This game was fucking incredible when it first came out. Everyone's PCs could barely run it. If I remember right, the original devs lost so much money because you were able to customize things like clothing and sell it for currencies that could buy subscription time

TL;DR: It's free. Give it a shot. Worst-case scenario, you uninstall it. I'm genuinely unsure how to answer this. The core game that exists currently is fun, but the US server is almost completely dead. It peaks at only a little over a hundred players. The EU server is more populated, so if you're in a region that has a reasonable ping to the EU servers, I'd say go for it. The game's free, there's no reason not to at least give it a try. Things may improve over the coming year, as, per this year's roadmap devblog, the devs have more or less given up on the engine upgrade and have transitioned to making what currently exists better. This is good; the game needs support and the engine upgrade has eluded the people working on it for over half a decade now. So if you're in a region with a better ping to the US, consider keeping track of the game's updates and trying it later.

Customisation is most definitely the best selling point however you need premium to have more than only 3 tattoos or decals on your clothing which sucks... The idea of premium shouldn’t be in the game at all tbh

There are no pay 2 win weapons, the ones that are/were op get nerfed and you grind all ingame weapons for free if you so choose with the joker store. Agree with most other points tho. Same as you started in 2011, quit in 2013-2014 and do ocasionally come back still hoping the promised engine upgrade will one day come and save the game.

This is geniunly great. So many interesting and non-obvious thoughts that's been in my mind for many years but i never managed to visualise them. This video actually can be used as the answer to anyone who asks me why am i still playing it. But... I can not pass by "are premium store wepons all without exception game breakingly overpowered"? Dude... really? How could you possible make such a huge amount of deep and enlightened statements and put this one between them? For the entire 10 years of apb history meta always been around free guns - ntec, nhvr, jg, pmg, and so on. All devs efforts to make armas-exclusive weapon flowed to pieces of crap like Norseman (why the hell it's called Norseman by the way if its Russian Bizon). There is only 2 cases of actual p2w appearance: OCA Nano and Trouble maker. Second one was dominating so hard that it was ridiculous sometimes. But they both been fixed afterwards anyway. Maybe also pre-nerf scout from 2013 falls in p2w category too, but how many people even remember those times. Yes, playing without paying may be unconfortable at times. Yes, all this customization system blooms only if you have premium account. Yes, most of the contend (especially new content) only available in "premium store". But it's never been about wepons and actual "pay to win".

Sucks this game got the P2W stamp on it even after being sold to a new company. LO have done a pretty decent job at changing the armas store prices to not be insanely overpriced and added ways for f2pers to get access to legendaries. All that needs to be focused on is adding a good SBMM system so new players don't get stomped by people who have been playing this game for years. I know many will disagree, but APB has a fairly good community excluding all the tryhards and toxic players which exist in every game not just APB. Many people will be welcoming to new players and even help them out with their grind. I decided to play again a few months ago on a fresh character and a few kind people mailed me some neat items like cars and weapons. They want to get you to know the game and most people wont pub stomp too hard if they see you in tracksuits.

Boy I remember when G1 assholes when people start questioning their progress with engine upgrade took so long with little to no progress become overly defensive and wrote some math example which look really complex and taunted community if they knew the answer they should sent them CV....I mean if LO didnt took over this game is completely dead...Hope Matt Scott doesnt have heart atack from this considering the amount of cobwebs around this game and broken desings which are glued together will take years to polish it to make it for casual audience worth while..Good luck to them

i bought p2w weapons, I aint any better lmao, JG-1040 vs CSG-20 PR1 for example. the CSG which you can get for free now btw if you grind for it, is better at longer range but the JG is better at close range because of the spread & my aim lmao. most premium guns are reskins of free weapons, and the cars well..., you can get them for free or pay real money to safe time grinding. the exeptions are the VAS heavy machine gun/assault rifle, the Rabit, kraken LMG. i do hate explosive weapons tho, as they can one shot, unlike heavy snipers. killing hackers is fun too not that i encounter many tho (1 or 2 per year while i tend to play 2~4 hours a day), having more skill is better than perfect aim :)))

Combat in this game is just terrible. Its the main reason why i dont play it. The gunplay is bad but thats not the main issue, the issue is the third person camera, it just ruins the gameplay by giving an insane advantage to defending players and making the combat a frustrating mess overall.

Why is it now p2w? (you may ask reading this) Joker store brings (almost?) every gun that you need to pay for for in-game currency (Joker tickets). You need to grind a bit every week in fight club to get this currency but you can get it 100%. Also most guns that you get off contacts are the best weapons you can get. (Oscar [late game], hvr, ntec, pmg, oca, .. ) Also most weapons that you can buy with real money are re-skins of guns you can get in-game.

It was a spectacularly good game on launch, way ahead of it's time; especially considering customization. I gave up watching at that point.
