AMD cards are by far the best price/performance value for gaming right now for any performance tier below the 4090, and Intel cards have made big strides in the midrange and low end too, but are still a bit too unproven for most. Nvidia wants to go on and on about RT/PT and DLSS to distract from poor generational gains. 7000 series isn't frankly a lot better in that regard, but supply and demand have put them at prices that provide good value anyways. 6700xt/6750xt are the new RX480/RX580. I'd say my 6700xt was an even better value. My RX480 never hit 150fps on ultra settings on brand new games, and only cost 50 dollars less.

nVidia has generally better raytracing performance, DLSS 3, and the best top end card. AMD has a better raster performance, a better software package, more VRAM, and better prices. I opted for the 7800XT because it gives me better performance for what I use it for. I know people who buy nVidia based on their actual needs.

considering that 3 of my friends switched from AMD to nvidia due to driver related stuff and are happy on the green side, I don't think Nvidia and AMD are quite the same in terms of driver stability. The true reason AMD is winning over KZbinrs is because they only Benchmark some stuff with the AMD card and that's it. Ask them what's in their gaming pc and you will quickly realize that they are all running Nvidia. Even IF you run into driver issues, you can just rollback and be fine again. If you do the same to AMD drivers they are still clapped, but for different reasons.

I can't speak for the 7000 series but my 6700xt has been rock solid and Adrenaline is a straight forward easy to use tuning software. I game, use Blender, and run Stable Diffusion thru a Blender plugin with it. It does all these things well. I could not justify paying more for an Nvidia with less VRAM just for RT performance, RT is not that life changing, and i can use it if i'm ok with 60fps instead of 144fps anyways.

I got a 7900 XTX when it was on sale. I haven't noticed a big difference from using a Nvidia card. Like it might not be as good as the 4090 but it does acceptable frames on 4k gaming. I have problems with Multi monitors on my 4090. I got 2x 4k monitors, and a 4k 75" tv. I have to turn off 1 monitor to make the TV work. Why.. I don`t know. Never seen this issue before. If anyone have an answers to my issue. pls write me a comment, and how to fix it. I believe in a few years now, things will crash for Nvidia. Reason is more and more is going away from Microsoft right now. It sounds weird, but this is because gaming on Linux past year has been insane to say the least. 90% of all games work on Linux right now. If they manage to get Proton to go default without checking any settings for the game. The big collapse of Microsoft and Nvidia will happen. Then the ship will sink, and no reason to pay for the bloated Windows anymore. Steam has been active on Linux since Steam Deck got launched. Meaning they had to take all windows games to Linux for the Steam Deck. Why is this so important? Well, first of all, Linux is way lighter then Windows. Meaning your hardware will get more bang for the buck when gaming. Its less background crap. The other is, Linux is free. Its open source... Think about that for a second. Who else is open source? AMD.. So the drivers are built into the kernel code of the OS, you don`t need software or anything. It just works. How ever, Nvidia will never go open source. So having Nvidia card, is not as good as having an AMD card. Its more work and problems. Programs emulating games, are made in Linux, they run better in Linux to. I give it 3-5 years, then major things will happen. Just this year, has been as big as inventing the wheel for Linux for gaming. Linux + Steam = true! So next year already will be when you discover that people will change. It has started, but next year is the next big thing for sure. Then you can ask, what about all other games? Well, Epic games, Ubisoft and GOG you can have in 1 launcher in Linux, does not matter where you get the game. They are fused in Linux, meaning, you can have multi accounts in one launcher, and one Library now. Blizzard Launcher is up and running. I`m from the Amiga 500 generation, so I`m happy to see this change. It feels like something that is nostalgic about going into Linux while gaming right now. If you want to learn how to use Linux? Get rufus software, its a software that makes you USB bootable, and add Linux to it. When you install it, choose install Linux with Windows, meaning you can choose you OS when you start your computer. Its the best time, to learn Linux, before it will take over in a few years. There is a reason that they are releasing windows 12 soon. You dont think they are afraid of Linux? They are trembling right now. Steamdeck to Linux changed it all. All games given out on windows this year, is also native in Linux, meaning you dont need to emulate the games in proton or wine :)) My next card will be an AMD. Even im a Nvidia user at this point. After toying around with Linux this year, i have a different view of the future of gaming. To break free from Windows and Nvidia. It was 100kg lighter on my shoulders. Few years ago, gaming on Linux just sucked. It was horrible. Can`t say that this year. More is coming. The fact that Linux is not that big, is because of games where working more or less in Windows only. That has changed, and the monopoly is not there anymore. Then its free!! :D

none of these "nvidia bad" things is new, they have been doing this shit for decades (other than the AI stuff). I had a 7900XT (DO NOT BUY THE XFX VERSION) and the drivers were shit for the first 6 months, on top of that the quality control on the card is shit as my gpu wasnt make good contact with the heatsink. I repasted/padded (the torn pads) and it fixed it for 2 months then started again. There is just a general lack of quality on AMD GPUs and that may be the AIB's fault more so than AMD but it is still an issue. That said the drivers being shit is 100% AMD's fault. The 7900 cards should have launched with the 7800/77.

My brother, my brother. Right about drivers being crap, but I'd never switch to Team Green. (for my main PC. Kinda need a Team Green GPU for AI Lora model creation. But that's future me.) But there are stable drivers to run. Took a few tries to find the stablest version for my 6800XT. I'm running latest now, but I was stuck on 22.4.3 for the longest time. 23.10.2 worked like a dream. 23.11.1 is noticeably less stable than 10.2 but not to the point I have run it back. It's just tiny issues only I would notice. Anyways, the My Brother, my brother was to point out how important it is to choose the right AIB partner the first time. I used to buy only MSI branded GPU's until about 4 or five years ago. I was upgrading to a premiere GPU and did my research. Switched over to Sapphire. Best move I've made yet. I still own my Sapphire Pulse 5700xt in my secondary PC and my main is a Sapphire Pulse 6800xt. (Couldn't pull the trigger on the Nitro. I had the money but I gave in to my sensibilities to have money left over. Worked out, bills were higher than I thought that month.) Sapphire is just works. That's all I can say. It could just be I keep getting fortunate but I trust them as a company, just like everyone trusts EVGA for NVIDIA... well used to. Wish I had the funds for a 7800 or 7900xt. Better for AI art generation from what I've heard, but my 6800xt is a dream. Up to 7 it/s for intial generation and around 1.5 to 2 it/s for the extras I run, like up scaling and detailing. (Running Linux for Stable Diffusion and Windows as my main)

Then you get to the KZbinrs who seem to be trying to sell for AMD, saying how good they are doing and trying to convince everyone to go AMD. It's wild, and very cookie cutter in each instance. I'm not a big fan of being manipulated for my wallet and how I use it for personally, but obviously it works for many or they wouldn't be doing it. There's just been an army of AMD salesman all pitching the same pitch. What mostly fell through for me is seeing Nvidia get slammed all year long for "fake frames Ngreedia" just for FSR3 to come out in 2 games, and see all the praise for the fake frames from the same people that slammed it, which proved there is a push by AMD on KZbinrs to sell their products. Price 2 performance for raster, and everything else besides that is a gimmick, until they get that gimmick and talk about how amazing it is. Lame.
