The war started when I was 15 years old. They bombed us and after a month in Hargeysa’s we left with my family and disabled aunty and we arrive in the countryside without food,clothes and water. We walked for 1 hour and a half and my younger sister was 7 but still the army jets followed us and bombed us again. I saw dead innocent bodies of men and women and the side effect of that caused me to be scared of a balloon when my children pop then. I wish that we don’t join with Somalia ever again and thank you for telling the truth about somaliland and I wish I find more people like you.

Thank you very much Fredo. Here are few reasons why Somaliland must be recognized as a sovereign state. 1. Historic right : Somaliland was an independent country before it joined in a union with Somalia. Therefore, it has the right to reclaim its independence as it was the mother country and was a sovereign state , Somalia was still an Italian colony. Somaliland sovereignty is in line with AU charter, which states that African borders at the time of independence must be respected. 2. Legal right: And by the way, Somali Republuc didn't sign into that charter. Another reason of historic importance is that Somaliland didn't sign declaration of union with Somalia, but it was annexed in Somalia presidential decree. A referendum was set years later for the Somali Republic constitution that included the union of Somaliland and Somalia as its major article. That constitution was boycotted by 75% of then Somaliland voting eligible population and the remaining 25% voted no for the constitution. On the other hand, There were 5 million voters from Somalia, who all voted "YES" for that constitution, when Somalia only had a total population of only 3 million - so this was the most fraudulent referendum on earth. Thus, Somaliland has the inalienable right for self determination. 3. Moral right : Somaliland benefited nothing from the union with Somalia, but it was in the receiving end of political, economic, social and justice segregation, which climaxed with 1988 genocide. 4. Somalia is failed states and it has been as such for the three decades and most likely will remain as such in the foreseeable at least the coming three decades. There is no point for Somaliland to repeat the mistake of reunion that was tried for almost three decades and which has failed badly. Reunion will only create further wars, political , economic and social instability not only in Somaliland and Somalia, but in the greater Horn of Africa. This will benefit no one and it will have further implications on the rest of the world including the great powers. 5. Finally, here is my favourite question, what will Somaliland and the rest of the world benefit from Somaliland and Somalia reunification?

Support from USA senate members seem to come from republican or right wing leaning representatives, do you think that has something to do with the party’s orientation in regards to taking strong stances against China? Which if yes, renders Somaliland a battle ground for the “upcoming Cold War”, as tensions bw the 2 nations seem progressively escalating. Also factor in China’s influence in the region & sway over African nations, as well as its security council veto power, all of which have a bearing on Somaliland’s pursuit of recognition regionally & internationally.

War with China and USA is inevitable. And East African countries will be involved.
@FredoRockwell2 жыл бұрын
Hi Nour, the Senator I mentioned in the video, Sen. Van Hollen, is actually a Democrat. Republicans tend to be more focused on foreign affairs as a party, traditionally, but that has faded to some extent since the rise of Trump. There are still many anti-China hawks in the Republican party, but there is a lot of worry about China among Democrats as well. So I don't think Somaliland is likely to be a Republican-only issue. As for Somaliland being a pawn, it's possible, but the China-US rivalry is not necessarily going to lead to war. And if it did, it would probably be on Taiwan and not spread further. But no one can know for sure, so let's hope everything turns out okay.

God day Fredo Rockwell ! Thank you again for yet another video explaining what Somaliland is all about in this new video which says America loves Somaliland and why. In a way that's true and is true too, the other way round. Americans who in 1776 defeated the overwhelming British Imperial Navy and the colonial rule of King James and founded the United States of America from initial 13 states and erected a new form of government, Republic, a government from the people by the people for the people and a new ideology, namely, democracy, see in Somaliladers a small nation which have challenged the most brutal, tyrannical dictator in the end of the 20th century and his sophisticated war machine and sacrficed their cities, their wealth and 250,000 of their loved ones to live in freedom rather than surrender and live under the occupation and oppression of a military dictator. It was a gamble, but it was a gamble with strong will and a strong trust in Allah. They won in the end and re-asserted their independence which they attained from Great Britain in June 1960. From the ashes of their cities, with only the remitances from the refugees who escaped the genocide and survived, they were able to rebuild their destroyed cities, even better. But more than cities they costructed a political and economic system based on freedom : a model of the American system of government where people choose their president and their national and local legislature. They created a Constitution and a Constitutional Court and held.a referundum on Independence and the Constitutional which was voted for freely by 97% of the citizens. Many of those who wrote the Constitution were politicians and accademicians who graduated from American universities and admired the American democracy and system of government. The educated elites from the older generation who graduated from British colonial schools and later American and British universities admired the Anglo-American democratic system of government and choose it as model for their political system because it is antithesis of dictatorship. Like-wise they choose the free market economy as an alternative to government planned economy because it guarantees and promotes freedom, the right to own, motivation, competition initiation and invention. The leaders who constructed Somaliland from the bottom saw American free enterprise as the economic express train that enabled America to overtake the thousand centuries Old World in 3 centuries and lead the world in the industrial and technical inventions that revolutionised human life on our planet. light and electric energy, the telephone, the autombile the aeroplane, the computer and the Internet are all American.

@FredoRockwell2 жыл бұрын
Probably for the same reasons hardly anyone recognizes Taiwan - they claim to rule all of China (which they don't) and this makes it difficult to have normalized relations with the government in Beijing. I'm not a fan of the Beijing government, but it's probably best for everyone if the US and China have normal diplomatic relations. Thanks for watching!

@@FredoRockwell America ONLY gives a wink to Taiwan but it will never recognize it due to the retaliation from China which can also recognize Puerto Rico and other Western Hemisphere territories. The so called Monroe Doctrine will be flipped upside down. I just find it absolutely pathetic that American politicians and officials will pretend to recognize the “Rights” of foreign people, but will NEVER recognize the basic rights of American citizen to healthcare, living wage, free college, etc. For God’s sake Flint Michigan and countless of American citizens don’t even have clean water. Do the whole world a favor and just take care of your own people instead of trying to interfere in the political and social affairs of others. That would be peaceful for all of us.

Great video and very informative Fredo My question is do you believe that USA will establish diplomatic relations with Somaliland and if yes do you think it will be this year? My second question is how much sway do you think the USA will have regarding diplomatic recognition of Somaliland, as you already know the usual response is that it is down to the AU to decide and they are reluctant based on the effect it can have on the rest of africa
@FredoRockwell2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Putting aside my own desire for Somaliland to be recognized, I think it's unlikely for this to happen in 2022. I think a US representative office in Hargeisa, the next step, is very possible. From what I've read, the parts of the US government which deal with security (the department of defense, the intelligence agencies, etc) are very supportive of Somaliland. The Department of State (what we can the Foreign Affairs ministry) prefers a united Somalia including Somaliland. So it depends on which departments have the most power in the Biden administration. Also, I've not looked into it in detail, but I suspect Israel is more likely to formally recognize Somaliland before the US does. Israel has more to gain and less to lose (or that's how they're foreign ministers will see things I think).
@abdikalaqmohamud71202 жыл бұрын
Israel or America no longer have any monopoly in world affairs. Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia are united in making sure foreigners including US no longer interfere in their internal affairs. The people of awdal state and the people of sool and sannag do not want a government dominated by the sub clan of jeeganland. No Somalis in the world will allow Somalia to be divided. Just go and ask Somalis in Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti. They are all against dividing Somalia into clannish territories.

@@Zhangzhi123 You are correct in many ways. Democracy in the US is very flawed. For example, in my home state of Georgia, most candidates for our State Legislature run unopposed, and the law makes it effectively impossible for new parties to challenge the incumbent parties. And also, America has supported some terrible dictators and invaded way too many countries. But, I would say American was the first large democracy of any sort to really emerge in history, and overall has been a force for good in history (very much on balance, of course). I would also say, America could do worse than to take inspiration from Somaliland for respecting the rule of law when it comes to elections!

By 2003, Somaliland already had one man-one vote presidential elections, stability and security....something Somalia still hasn't managed to achieve in 2022. I don't know enough about this issue, but I do think it's important that journalists are allowed to write anything. Even when they are working against the interests of the government, they should have freedom of speech. But I say this humbly as both President Obama and President Trump harassed journalists and behaved in unacceptable ways towards the media. Letting journalists have true freedom to write what they want is extremely difficult and most countries fail to uphold this freedom completely. Thank you for watching! 🙂
@hodhomawel18122 жыл бұрын
Sir freedom of speech has limitations you can not be foreign agent and do that to destroy our peaceful country.I think in Somaliland you can speak your mind and no one will be arrested.But this journalist he was been warned and given chance.The world saw what this ppl did and they still doing.In any country in the world if you betrayed your country you will hold accountability.He will get his day in court.
@FredoRockwell2 жыл бұрын
@@hodhomawel1812 Yes, you're right it must have limitations. I don't know enough of the specifics of this case, so I'm reluctant to say more. But I will say that in many countries when journalists are detailed they are accused of treason. It's what's happening in Belarus right now. So even if the arrest of the journalist you mention is warranted, it doesn't look good to an international audience. But again, I don't know the full situation and I'm in no position to make a judgement - Somaliland is surrounded by difficult situations on all sides.
