they cut off the best part though: in the end, the girls go away and the British guy turns to him and says "can't believe you got away with it" And when he asks, what gave him away, the Brit answers: the headphones around your neck...

He’s absolutely correct. As an American living in Europe, especially over the past 3+ years, I’m mortified on a daily basis, even asking for forgiveness from some. Wish I didn’t have to but in these times, it’s become instinctual. We’re loud, disrespectful, disruptive, do things here that we’d never do at home. In Florence, where so many students go to study, seeing ose kids drunk and peeing on the steps of a 500+ yo cathedral designed by Bramante or Michelangelo, is just horrific. Imagine foreigners from anywhere doing the same on the Lincoln Memorial? They’d be hauled off in seconds......or stoned by the crowd. It really is mortifying.
@theemperorstarwarslegends80752 жыл бұрын
I don't think getting stoned to death would happen to often here. You'd more likely get shot with an LDT MGL Grenade Launcher than stoned (in that sense).

Well, I've seen equally atrocious behavior by Germans and Scots. They were about college age too. I think there are all kinds of ugly tourists out there, from every place imaginable. It's called bad behavior, you find it happening all over the globe.

The thing is, I'm from NYC, and whenever I go to any "touristy" area, the ones who are being very loud and obnoxious are the foreigners, but I don't think tourists who are "loud and obnoxious" now, a bunch of AH doesn't define a whole country, I'm sorry. I think there is something about not being in your "home" and "on vacation" that makes people go " Oh its fine to let go a few times a year."

Genuine, no lie detected. Related note: In 1985, one of our choirmates broke her tibia in Sweden. She, being from a wealthy family, used to affording the best, was **offended** when the hospital refused payment, and wouldn't charge her parents' medical insurance. She wanted to like healthcare paid for by everyone, for everyone, but then... "How do the better off get better care than the poor people?" Words to that effect. My eyes can't roll far enough back in my head.

I was going to say but not so much in December, but then I looked up the temps in Kingston in December, and that's like April weather here in northern Minnesota, so yeah you may well be right. I rode a bus to Minneapolis in early March (still winter jacket weather), and a guy in shorts asked the driver to turn the heat up (the driver compromised by going up one degree). There was a young woman in shorts too but she owned the outfit and stood around outside during a break.

I know that even me....being from California can handle the cold better than the people who are from the east coast areas lol. In Washington DC I Walked around in jeans and a tshirt in 20degree weather and my jacket open in Minnesota at 10 degrees when everyone else had hats scarves double jackets etc lol But the funny thing is that I’d run shivering into the house at 40-50 degrees in California! what gives???? Why does it seem so much colder in Ca at a higher temp than on the east coast??
