I just did a bunch of home studio tracking direct from my HX Stomp, using it as a pedal platform, and it was absolutely fantastic, I use it for live solo looping gigs on electric and singer songwriter gigs on acoustic. Gear these days is amazing, love modeling these days.

@@andrewsiemon You never *needed* them. And home recording has exponentially improved over the past 10-15 years and keeps advancing. But there is a reason professional studios continue to exist and record major records.

Real amps are awesome, on the other hand, plugins are usually more versatile and easy to use. With technology, you can fix a lot of "problems" that in the analog world can't be solved and provide a better user experience
@andrewsiemon3 ай бұрын
Facts. That’s why I’m always switching between the two. The simplicity of the pedals + amp combo is mad user friendly. Sometimes all this shit gets too complicated and you get into this mode of quasi-analysis paralysis.
@apfx_audio3 ай бұрын
@@andrewsiemon Absolutely, it's nice to have options but sometimes plugins are too complicated. We think software should be as easy to use as analog gear, it is at the core of our philosophy!

It’s an accurate depiction of how real amps make me feel sometimes. It’s also a great clickable thumbnail. If you hate the thumbnail game, KZbin might not be for you.

Nothing in this video explained why amp sims are better except they dont piss your neighbors off and you dont have the space to record them. No hate, just think the title/thumbnail/claims are a little misleading. IMO Amp sims are great though and super good tools for anyone who needs a decent tone on the go, something to silently practice with with headphones, or people in your position. I have a few 100w tube heads i use often for shows and real studio stuff but like you said when im at home and demoing out my songs for my band its not worth the effort to mic them up i always use an amp sim and i always use sims to practice alone. But at the same time with full band practice/recording i prefer to use my real amps, they just do something magic lol. Also your video production looks great keep it up man, 2 of ur cheatsheet ads in one 8 min video is a tad crazy tho hahahaha.
@andrewsiemon3 ай бұрын
Fair enough. I don’t have any technical explanation as to why one is better than the other. I mostly judge equipment based on pragmatic factors, ie, sound, space, size, user experience, rather than meeting a technical standard of some kind. You may be right about the 2 cheatsheets. I’m experimenting. Sometimes I forget that KZbin is already increasingly packing ads into videos these days, especially on a smart TV. The creator perspective is often different from the viewer perspective and it’s not always easy to see how things come across.
