Another problem with the rule of two is that it will work only if the apprentice is playing fair (as if sith would do that) and don't just blow his master up from orbit or something like that, it also assumes that no one would die in accident and that the master would teach his apprentice everything (as if sith would do that)
@austinhaynes64204 жыл бұрын
Honestly I hate Darth Bane and the rule of 2, I feel like it makes everything more boring. The KotOR age and before is waaaaaay better than what happens after, mostly because the Sith are an actual force and not the ones striking from the shadows. I loved the idea of there being a bunch of Jedi and a bunch of Sith and occasionally you would have these big lightsaber battles, you would have the SIth and the Republic vying for power in the galaxy and really it was just far more interesting than the shadow games after the rule of 2. It's not to say that there aren't great stories, the shadowy intrigue has its moments, but I prefer 2 giant powers fighting for control of the Galaxy, not a big bad empire against the underdog rebels who win it in the long run. As far as power? I think the older Sith Lords would destroy the newer ones, despite what George Lucas has said (He's made some terrible decisions let's be honest) Darth Sidious looks weak compared to Sith Lords like Exar Kun or Revan or Ragnos or Vitiate or many many others, even renowned Sith like Bane seem weak by comparison. Hell Darth Nihilus technically could just instantly kill anything that wasn't a wound in the force, sure it's game breaking contrived power, but it's power.

Reading this comment made me realize that the sequel trilogy could have continued not using The First Order but the re-establishment of The Sith Empire instead as Modern Sith decided to disregard Darth Bane's Rule of Two as a way of Self-Preservation of Sith Teachings in case they were wiped out. The new Sith Empire could have begun as Ben Solo/Kylo Ren left Luke's New Jedi Order due to PTSD (Maybe a battle that caused a lot of deaths of his fellow Jedi) and saw the New Republic incapable of bringing Order to the Galaxy thus leaving the Jedi Order for good.

In a way the Rule of Two sith where the most vulnerable. Let say some accident or enemy of the new sith master, managed to kill him or her before he/she could take any apprentices. Well that´s it then, the entire Stih order dies with him/her and so does most of the dark side skills learned through the ages. Here´s the thing though with the sith order of the old republic. If one sith lord died, before he could train an apprentice, it wasn´t such a huge loss as there was always others who could take over. The Sith order would survive.

Being alive during the Golden Age of the Sith where the practice of Sith Alchemy was at it's apex would've been very interesting no doubt, but then again, Sidious had amassed much if not most of the combined knowledge of the Sith of the past and had mastered Sith Alchemy aswell, using it in the creation of Vader amongst other things, and the Rule of Two had caused both Sidious and Vader to attain a powerlevel very few Sith of the past could've matched, so I would prefer to live in the Sidious/Vader era. On a sidenote, it's a shame Vader never was much interested in the pursuit of Dark Side knowledge as Sidious and Plagueis were and was more focused on destroying the Jedi, getting revenge on Kenobi and overthrowing Sidious to seize control of the Empire, through Sith Alchemy, he could perhaps not only have found a way to restore himself, but also to become more powerful than Sidious, and to become so much more than any Force wielder in the history of the galaxy instead of being reduced to the crippled cyborg that he was.
@enki66764 жыл бұрын
@Ms Taylor I like Vader as much as anybody else, but him being a cripple is just the truth, although that isn't to say he didn't manage to become a powerhouse regardless. But the loss of his limbs severely diminished his potential in the Force, by about 40% as stated by Lucas himself, and having to rely on electronics and cybernetics to function and even something as fundamental as to breathe can hardly be considered an improvement, not to mention they made him much slower and less agile than he was before and very vulnerable to Force lightning. The only advantage to his cybernetics were his increased physical strength, which he could've gained through other means, like Sith Alchemy for instance, and maybe the pain they caused him, causing him to grow stronger in the Dark Side. Overall his cybernetics were a hindrance and liability more than anything else.
@kazuya92884 жыл бұрын
Vader fell to the dark side because of his emotions, he did what he did because of his love of Padme and after her death and the supposed loss of his unborn child, rage and anger consumed him and on reflection he was a more pure dark force user than really any Sith because he wasn't driven by ambition or power just grief, anger, pain and hatred it's also why when he discovered Sidious lied to him and his children were alive turning back to the light inevitable because the dark side had lost it's grip on him and while Vader did terrible things Anakin was still there just supressed and he was still a good person at heart.

I disagree. By the time of Palpatine, he had mastered generations of sith knowledge. And at the same time all forms of lightsaber combat. The old sith were focused on power and war and they died out because of it. Raw strength doesn't beat the jedi. Tricking them does.
@Nempo134 жыл бұрын
@@samuelbishop3316 Really? The rule of two was focused on ONE thing, amassing power. That was it. It never taught or showed how to maintain that power. His Empire lasted for 20 years. That is it. Ancient Sith ruled over quadrants for hundreds of years to even thousands of years. Creating a culture that was uniquely Sith. Palpatine failed HORRIBLY. He also wasn't stronger than ancient Sith. Lucas has admitted as much even before he sold the rights. Everyone quotes what he said while it was still early on. When TOR the MMO was commercializing and being presented at cons and such, Lucas was there at times. One of his lines he said to people was "You can finally follow int he footsteps of the ancient Sith. Palpatine was the strongest Sith of the last thousand years but his power pales in comparison to what 'you' will face." Lucas also called the game canon btw. The official storyline that wove through the 8 classes and such...yeah all canon (the storylines never contradict each other either). This is what happens when people stop following the canon. Also, don't pick and choose, according to Lucas any novels and such written that refers to any time after The Return of the Jedi are NOT CANON. Those aren't the power levels of the characters, those events never happened. So in these discussions one must treat them as fan fiction. Facts is, Palpy really wasn't that powerful. He was manipulative and insideous and snake like. He wasn't very powerful though...not in the grand scheme of things. If he was powerful he would have ended them himself, but instead he had to worm his way into the senate and get a clone army made that was brainwashed to follow orders like a religion so that when order 66 was issued they would have no malice. With no malice the Jedi would get no combat sense/awareness and instinctively block. He had trouble with Yoda and Mace...all 3 of them put together couldn't hold a candle tot he ancient Jedi or Sith. That is how weak BOTH orders became with time. The Sith weakened themselves (Palpatine had access to knowledge but he didn't master it, he didn't have enough time to master it all, would take multiple lifetimes) while victory itself defeated the Jedi. Peace made them weak.
@samuelbishop33164 жыл бұрын
@@Nempo13 Yeah well you're not wrong. But what I said was still true, Palpatine had mastered generations of sith knowledge, he just used it differently to them. @DarkWarden0414 жыл бұрын
In terms of raw power, i'd say the ancient Sith were by far superior to the likes of Sidious and Vader. When i think of an absurdly powerful Sith Lord, I think of Valkorian. The guy was capable of destroying entire planets on his own. Yes it took time to do so, but he still did it. His more modern opposite; that being Sidious; was powerful sure, as was made evident by his use of Force Storms to destroy a fleet of capital ships and demolish a planet's surface, but he not nearly as strong as Valkorian was at the absolute height of his power; who wiped out all life on Nathema and Ziost, the event corrupting and tearing the Force to shreds in the wake of Valkorian's power. Vader was strong; of that there is no doubt. Even after he was mutilated and burned alive, his connection to the Force and skill with a blade made him a force to be reckoned with. That said, Sith Lords like Darth Revan (Before his return to the Light) or Tulak Hord would have demolished Vader with little to no trouble at all.
@lorastra69754 жыл бұрын
@Luis Martinez Unlike Vader Revan actually became a master, lead armies, faced multiple Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, and saved his woman from dying. Sidious Forcestorms are nothing special. Every second ancient Sith was able to perform them. Darth Revans or Darth Banes Forcestorms where much bigger than from Sidious, and Sidious was also not powerful enough to control his Forcestorms, I wouldn’t put him on a level with Vitiate 😉

I vote the Sith Triumvirate, in that era between the golden age and rule of 2 age, they didn’t last long but they were hella powerful and cool looking lol

They are more powerful because legends is a good example of what happens when you let creativity absolutely run wild with no grounding or discipline. Every other character is super powerful to the point of lunacy. So many of them have some “world shattering” power. Or are immortal. It’s a clear case of what happens when every one is special, so no one is. I find comparing Vader’s powers to the likes of most ancient sith absolutely pointless. One is a magnificent well thought out villain with conflict, flaws, and motives that evolved over time. And that actually had to fit organically into a story. And one is just some bland super villain who’s sole purpose is to be powerful.

Sam Hagar vitiate and many other ancient sith are way cooler, have great stories, and aren’t powerful just to be powerful.

Except that your argument is based on the wrong assumption of powerful characters being written badly. I fail to see how Traya, Sion and Nihilus are badly written. They are far superior in character to Vader.

It would also make sense that methodology might be the factor to the "power" differences. I see this because the past sith and jedi were looking into and becoming more intouch with the force through exploring it in new ways. Further on into the timeline learners were only taught small fractions of the force in constricted fashion's. In other words these orders stifled an individual's growth through ridged practices
@joshuaandree90073 жыл бұрын
I feel like that would leave a lot of room for more movies about the past. They should have a saber duelist move at inhuman speeds. A Star Wars movie that goes with an action theme. (Just like how The Mandalorian has an old West vibe.) The entire movie could be Tulak Hord having to fight continuously as he tries to conquer 100 planets. Like a John Wick scenario The end of the movie could show Tulak Hord standing over a field of bodies... so exhausted that he can barely stand. ...and then suddenly a blade is pierced through his back by his apprentice.
