My first iPod was an iPod Classic that I bought in 2003. I was tired of carrying around a CD player, a huge CD wallet, and packs of extra batteries that took up most of my handbag and still didn’t give me much of a choice of what I could listen to. With the iPod, I was able to rip my entire CD collection and carry it in a much smaller space. At the time I bought it, only 3 million people in the world owned an iPod and it made you one of the cool people. People with white earphones exchanged knowing glances, and one of the questions celebrities got in interviews was “What’s on your iPod?” Those were the days.

My first iPod was the first gen iPod Mini in 2004. I bought it because I was about to travel to Europe for college and didn't want to take all my CDs with me. I then got the 5th gen iPod with video in 2006, then the first gen iPod touch in 2008. That led me to my first iPhone in 2010, the iPhone 3GS.

I remember being incredibly excited about the iPod touch 4th gen when that came out back around 2010. Lots of my friends had one, and I eventually got one with my Christmas money! Good old days!

I had one and was very disappointed by the display quality compared to iPhone 4. The contrast ratio was horrible. The 5th gen was so much nicer.

@@dustinz9487 Yeah. At the time I didn’t know the difference but more recently I’ve learned the iPod used a lower-quality TFT panel while the iPhone 4 was a much better IPS LCD. Glad the 5th gen iPod touch was much better, and kinda wish I had gotten one in hindsight given how horrible my first Android phone was!

I loved my 2nd gen IPod Nano in green. It introduced me to podcasts and I loved how easy it was to add CD music to iTunes and sync to the device. Other MP3 players back in the day had such small storage that the iPods really changed the game. I've also used iPod touch devices (and still do to this day) since I have an android phone but still want access to my favorite podcasts and music. I just have a device set up at home for that purpose. The battery won't hold a charge for longer than 30 minutes so I'm not sure how much longer it will last. I also have an Amazon Alexa that I can connect it to through Bluetooth to get decent audio.

I really thought that it had died many years ago along with the iPod classic, of which I still want to get ahold of to (I have a broken one, I'd like one with an updated disk with larger capacity, nothing beats it as a music player so far!)

I got a secondhand 3rd gen iPod touch as a teenager around 2013. In some ways, it permanently drove me away from Apple products and was the only one I ever owned aside from an old, still functional Pro Mouse that I rescued from a box of e-waste. Unlike the Samsung tablet that I already had at the time, I couldn't simply drag and drop files onto the iPod touch. In addition, the tablet had 10x the battery capacity. So when I wanted to listen to music, I could do so far longer on the tablet while playing games and I could easily download more with a KZbin to mp3 converter or drag and drop it on from a PC. As a result, I only used the iPod touch off and on for about a year.

They could've made a dedicated music player by reviving the classic ipod for the music heads like me, I would love to have an updated ipod classic with more up to date audio codecs, I have a custom ipod mini 2nd gen and I love it, but eventually we won't have parts for these things. It's a shame. Rip ipod, thank you for all the memories

My favorite iPod was the 5th Gen nano with the video camera! That iPod had amazing features, camera effects, built in microphone, I remember thinking I didn’t pay the guy at the L.A street market enough for what this can do back in 2010!

My first and only iPod (and first ever Apple Product) was a 2007 5th Gen iPod “Video”, 30GB, Black, onto which my dad stuffed about 5000 songs, 5 seasons of South Park and every episode of Faulty Towers and Two and a Half Men I still have it and other than the headphone Jack it still works faultlessly if docked It’s one of my absolute favourite pieces of tech I’ve ever owned - top tier with my PS2, iPhone 4 and purple transparent Game Boy Colour

I think they should have revamped the classic with a TB of storage and better SOC - I still use my 5th gen classic and a 256gb SD Swapped 2nd gen mini - my first ipod a 40gb 3rd Gen still works perfectly too

iPod Nano (square) my sister got and gave it to me once she upgraded. It was perfect to go to the gym with and not spend my time texting or scrolling. I will truly miss the iPod.

My first ever iPod was a 1st generation iPod Shuffle given to me as a gift by an ex-girlfriend in 2005, which I kept until 2006 when I bought a 1st gen iPod Nano in white, the first iPod I bought with my own money and gave my Shuffle to my cousin (after the girlfriend became an “ex” of course). I kept that Nano until an unfortunate drop shattered the screen 2 years later, and then in 2009 I bought an 80gb iPod Classic in silver which I still have to this day. I never owned an iPod Touch because once I got my first iPhone (iPhone 4) in 2011 I immediately embraced the concept of using it as an iPod, which I’ve done ever since, for better or for worse. But the iPod will always have a special place in my heart as I became an adult just as they were getting popular. I literally got to witness the music industry change in real time, which can’t be said about many generations.

I have a NANO - that I still use JUST for my MUSIC when I work out! I am Disgusted with Apple!! I don't want a watch - I don't want wireless ear buds...I am not going to run with my iphone just for my music. My first one was the iPod Video for Christmas 2005!! I felt like a badass with it. Still have it today with It’s original Hdd but different front face as it got scratched badly and over the years had to refurbish it as I dropped it and the headphone jack broke. So I could only use it as an external hdd. But 10 years ago I bought an OEM headphone jack and replaced it with new battery. It still works today.!! 😎 I really miss the iPod era so so much!! 😞

While I agree with most of your points, I would not recommend putting 2, or even 1 TB in an iPod because, as shown in DankPods videos, they become very unstable. Also the Spotify iPod was a Pi inside an iPod Case

Apple killed the iPod because it's not profitable for them to sell a dedicated device for music anymore. There is no money in it for them to sell consumers their own digital music files to own. Google shut down thier own music store 2 years prior to Apple discontinuing the ipod. It's more profitable for companies to sell you a music or cloud service. I still believe there is a market for a dedicated, reasonably priced, music player. As most of the alternatives are constantly out of stock, hard to find, or excessively priced.

Finally bought an iPod 5th Gen and a 7th Gen last year. Modded the 7th gen to have have a new front and backshell (metallic green and black look awesome), an SD card (512 GB which is plenty) and put Rockbox on it. I can even play Pokémon Yellow on this thing.

Hmm, I think my first iPod was either a shuffle, or an iPod touch, around 2008 time frame, which makes sense, considering I would have been in about 8th grade/going in to high school in 2008, my first iPhone was the iPhone 4 I believe. Since that was the first Verizon iPhone… a few years later, in 2010.

I’ve had two classics , an 80gb black, I was working up in whistler bc , one night I went out for a walk around so I stop to look up at a great view of the ski hills look down and bam!!! Just sitting there off the trial an classic iPod 120gb black, I fired it up and it still works to this day ,I’ll probs not get rid of my 120classic , I gave my 80gb classic to my younger brother he still has it and uses it all the time , me not so much as I’ve had a pro version iPhone since my 11pro 64 go, I skipped the 12 , I now have 13pro 256gb oh Apple Watch 5 series , Apple Watch ultimate, bur my favourite is my iPad Pro 12.9 1tb m-1 … just love apple tech

My first and only iPod was the mini, the blue one. (Coincidentally my first *iPad* was a mini too.) I got it right out of high school and at times it was my only companion (it was a pretty tough stage in my life). I loved that iPod. I still listen to many of those songs back than even until now.
