Yeah they can use that money but not on themselves. You only get a tax write off if you have proof you donated it and charities also have to prove they donated that money (yes they have to prove or else their tax free status is revoked). You can also do the same by donating to your local spca
@safeandeffectivelol5 ай бұрын
@@homieinthesky8919 The thing is they can never use $100 billion, but they still control it through private foundations that are tax-exempt. Here's how it works: Gates gets stock options for pennies. The options are eventually worth $100 billion due to Microsoft stock going up over the decades. He would normally owe $37 billion in taxes when he exercises those options. He sets up a private foundation and donates it. Now it's all tax-exempt. He invests the $100 billion through his foundation and now it's worth $200 billion. He just dodged another $37 billion in taxes as long as he uses 5% of the foundation's wealth for charitable purposes. In reality, the charity is giving to NGO's he controls to lobby governments to use the companies he invests in for vaccines, genetically modified foods, and tracking technology in the name of poverty reduction and healthcare. He's still in full control of all that wealth even though it's not in his name. How do I know? I'm a CPA and used to work for the IRS and Big 4 accounting firms.

There is another way to see it in a more possitive light but with almost the same message: if you are already a billionaire, more money would not impact your lifestyle so instead of pursuing money it's pretty reasonable to pursue other things, like charitable causes (or maybe the goal of being beloved by the masses). This is consistent with Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. I have seen some beggars saying "by giving me one coin, you don't make yourself poor but you make me rich", charity for ultra-rich guys works in a very similar fashion. ...of course they are not the most altruistic people in the world (after all, altruism requires to put the well being of others above oneself, but they don't really sacrifice their own wellbeing), but the charitable intentions may be genuine (I don't claim it's genuine always, just that it's not that unlikely to be). Lastly it's hard to know how many rich people is donating to charity without bragging about it, because we only know about the ones who brag; so, we don't know if the billionaires from other countries usually donate to charity and they just don't brag about it (maybe they prefer to not being famous in order to not being targeted by criminals). Btw, Carlos Slim is not american and he has his own charity foundation with his name, probably because he cannot stay hidden from the media and the public opinion.

I saw people's lives changed in Uganda when, during the AIDS crisis, locals could not access, let alone afford ARVs. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation stepped in and provided testing and drugs at a very minimal fee. It was this gesture that not only saved so many lives to date but also kicked the worst parts of the crisis away. Today most people cannot remember that desperate time. Bill used to visit Africa, Asia, etc. so many times. He is a real philanthropist, while most only do it for the business.

0:37 wanting people to use your web browser, on your operating system on computers you produce isn't too different from how restaurants don't allow you to bring outside food to their venue. It's pretty reasonable.

The whole church is dodgy. I'm not even talking about the btsax stuff, which as it turns out, happened at a lower rate per adult staff than in public schools. It's their penchant for socialism and state false idols that pss me off.

REMINDER!! THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS WHO MADE HIM RICH. Buying what he was selling made him rich. Didn't take rocket science to see computers would work against us. I kept telling people to boycott them. You see there is power in numbes. There was and still is more of us. This is only going to get worst as they turn computers against us.

A tiny fraction of the amount of lives that have been saved through hunger eradication, women’s rights and education.

@rzadigi so how would like to be the tiny fraction ? So easy to equate the tradeoffs from youre easy chair or board room you're sad !!

@@jerrywatt6813 so then you propose giving no vaccines in order to save the tiny fraction while the much greater majority succumbs to illness and dies??

Jake Tran Saying “the reason people hate bill gates in the 90’s is because he made them use internet explorer” is extremely uninformed. But go off, ..I guess? You don’t become “the most hated man in America” by doing that. Otherwise they’d hate Steve Jobs for making apple users use safari.

They feel a little guilty about on their climb up, on how they crushed and ruined the lives. If you think about it it is true. Not many people come to the top cleanly, they distroyed lives. Some of those were just doing their job, and their lives are only shadow of what they used to be before runing in to the I must have it all, millionaire, and billionaires. Most of them have dirty hands. I know. Dave
