Who knew? Air NZ has a monopoly so they can set whatever domestic price they want to. Definitely a reason why the domestic flights are so expensive. Even with another domestic airline option, there's no assurance that there wouldn't be a duopoly situation like the supermarket chains. It would be mutually beneficial for them to do so. On an unrelated topic, was hoping that Costco would open up additional warehouses. It's always full and one location won't count as competition against the supermarket duopoly chains.

I've actually never been to Costco, it just doesn't seem efficient to me to bulk buy stuff that I don't need

Prob some of the worst PR spin I've seen. It really doesn't instill a lot of confidence in this company esp as an investor. However I do agree that it does pay to book early and try to take advantage of the leavers you can pull I.e using air points to mitigate costs. I managed to get flights from AK to Wanaka and back around Oct. Total cost would have been $360.00nzd after using air points I only paid $82.55nzd. I'll be honest they are definitely trying to claw back losses from the COVID shutdowns and show investors they can be profitable especially after the capital raise they had recently.

As a potential investor they are probably not the worst option since they will always get bailed out by the government if things go sour
