Why Are Old Gas Guzzling Cars ULEZ Compliant but more recent Diesels are not?

Khan started linking the “climate emergency” and congestion to ULEZ with this expansion so expect this to change! These sort of cars will next on the hit list and probably very soon. The real ambition is to charge every car journey.

It's inevitable that road charging will happen I think. When so much is made from fuel duty that will be lost when EV cars are the norm there will need to be another way to make up that deficit.

Thank you for sharing your information regarding your journey to get your car to be recognise as ULEZ compliant. I am travelling the same journey at the moment with my 996 convertible like yours. Mine is a 2000 model with confirmed Nox figure of 0.049. I submitted the V5C and the CoC to TFL and received a very similar response. Furthermore TFL is asking not just a letter of confirmation from Porsche but a signed letter from a named person with the homologation department to confirm its Euro status. They are just trying very hard to fob us off. I wonder how you managed to get them to say yes at the end?

I was just persistent and kept resubmitting the info via the TFL website until I got someone who actually knew what they were doing. You definitely don't need the Euro status as that isn't relevant, the 996 is not Euro4 but the NOx part of the emissions is so the Euro status will show nothing.

@@ajvw Thank you for your reply. You are right. Persistence is the key. I resubmitted several times and they finally gave in and changed my car's status to ULEZ conformance. Definitely no need to contact DVLA since they did not want to know. I hope other drivers can follow our experience with TFL and got their car's' status changed.
