Good work but you should also have cleaned the small stainless steel pipe that feeds recycled egv fumes to this valve flap. It is the one in front of this intake valve flap, with the metal clamp ring. As this will also be clogged with carbon

It's a bit of a touch-feely job, but it is so much more satisfying than paying the local garage to do what should be two minute job. Thanks, and here goes... breath held as I start.

UPDATE. Well, that WAS interesting. I did as you suggested and started with the wheel pointing in, and then assembled my tools, well, tool and set to removing the screw things. That took a moment or two, but no longer than expected. Then I opened the bonnet to quite litertally shed some light on what I was doing. Before getting back down, I slipped my hand down behind the light unit and felt around, and there it was - the cap for the sidelight easily in my grasp. Off she came, the wires moved to allow access to the bulb holder, a quick twist and out it came; old bulb out, new bulb in and the cap replaced all without having to go in from behind the splash guard. A quick check to make sure it was working and then the two splash-guard screws replaced. All in, about 10 minutes, including screws in the wheel arch. I reckon for anyone with smaller to normal sizes arms and wrists, it would take a novice less than 5 minutes. Why in God's name do some people say you need to remove the bumper? Your method is quick and easy, and mine even easier - but I do have 'girly' wrists that my wife is envious of, and as I am a writer, they have never been manually worked to get bigger and more muscular. With the spare time I have also changed my wife's brake light bulbs in her Clio. Hmmm, typical French car, they were rusted up and need a good soak in WD40 before they would move. Again, thank you for your video.

I have the same problem. But it occurs when I turn on the air conditioner or heater in my car. When the light comes on, the car loses traction and gear changes are jerky. If I turn the engine off and start it again, the problem goes away. What should I do, please help

Have 140000 2.0 tfsi b9. Engine stills runs like beauty. I only need to Top up about 0.6l every 5k miles or so. Everywhere I’ve read it’s said this is expected with Audi tfsi. I think as at least my 2019 engine is designed with recommended 0W-20 synthetic they cover the pistons much easily than thicker oil and hence tiny amounts are lost in combustion. Theory could be that overall they protect the pistons and bore sidewalls better? However, if your getting more use then potential issue look at could be your actually burning more than you should and getting excessive smoke from exhaust. I would check that

Do they all have screw ins like that, also do you need to turn the water off or if the taps aren't on then it should be okay? Also my mams tap has a screw at the back, presume I have to take that off first?

I noticed a similar problem with my daughter’s 2013 VW Touran 2.0 dti. A few days ago, I took it on 3 mile trip to town and after about 1 hour made the return journey. When I switched off the engine, the fan kept running for a long time. The engine had not got up to full operating temp and the radiator and top and bottom hoses were cold. The engine was warm but it did not feel or smell over-heated. It is late December and the outside temperature was around 5 or 6◦C . My daughter tells me that the fan often runs after the engine is switched off, and has been doing so for a long time. After about 5 minutes or more, I turned the engine back on and ran it for a short while. I saw the temperature gauge fall quickly from around 70◦C or 80◦C to about half that. I switched off the engine and the fan was no longer running. That suggests to me that either the thermostat had (previously) not opened, either because it is sticky or the engine had not reached the requisite temperature. Another possibility could be that there is a fault in the sensor that triggers the fan to come on? We then took the car on a long journey, 375 miles to our destination, and 375 miles back the following day. The weather was cool. The car ran perfectly. Having got up to temp, the gauge remained on an indicated 90◦C (right in the middle of the normal range) mile after mile, both on motorway driving and in traffic. Didn’t notice hearing the fan after we switched off. It seems there are a number of possibilities here. I’m not convinced that (in my case at least) the problem is the DPF regenerating, I don’t think the car would have gone far enough or got hot enough to trigger this, in that short run that I first described?
