I love this seeing the progression of your rescue. Your enclosures are some of the most interesting and better/on par with the best zoos. Always showing you care for the animals first. Blessings to you both.

These reptilinks are brilliant! I love snakes but never adopted one because I also love rats. You’ve totally got me rethinking snake adoption again.

I would say they lack the nutrients of whole prey. Probably select meats no keratin from hair and no calcium from bone. I personally would stick to a very whole prey-diet. Nature had this stuff figured out long before we came along.

They're used at Snake Discovery and they sell them at their shop. I'm shocked when I see a snake eating them because they're not animal shaped. Also people need to get a grip it's nature snakes eat living animals in the wild and nature shows always film them eating. In captivity you can't feed a snake live animals due to possible harm to the snake and cruelty. It should always be fine to feed them frozen thawed animals that way they're getting the nutrition they need. I have no problem seeing a snake eating dead or live animals because I've grown up watching nature shows all my life and still do. I also follow channels like this one such as Snake Discovery and Fishing Garrett master yoinker some know him as lol and other Nick names too. I also a big fan of the late Brian Bartcheck I'll continue to follow his channel I hope the kids get more educational like Brian did. I also enjoy Clint's Reptiles too. You're doing a great job Chris love your channels and your property is beautiful.

I’ve heard hognoses are also picky eaters, but they’re toad eaters in the wild. So if you have one that’s picky you might also need a toad to scent the rodent with haha Reptilinks also have different…flavor juices? To scent rodents with. Seems like overall a great company with a wide variety of options.

I've been considering ordering reptilinks for my Olive Python but the minimum order quantity is a bit high for my needs. She's the only snake I have and she's currently only about 50 inches so I'd have to order almost a years worth of food. Might try splitting the order with one or two other people. Glad to see your Olive approved.

It's good enrichment to wiggle the food when they lock on so they think it's a live animal and wrap it up tight like they would in the wild.. Sweet cages also
@babalonkie8 ай бұрын
I know it's a little off topic, but feel free to show some of your weather, nature comes in many forms :) Also the rat food thing, not sure why SM would have a problem with frozen food, it's actually behaviour that should be encouraged, live prey is cruel and could harm the animal. But i do like the idea of the sausages, you could probably get a lot more nutrients in it.
@valariemeltzer25538 ай бұрын
@babalonkie He's got a number of videos showing rain and storms and the weather conditions during a tropical depression once. It doesn't really snow here in Florida but we do get frosts and freezes maybe two to three times each winter. Weather always varies here.

I have a couple ball pythons that will take the reptilinks but in general they just don't trigger a feeding response in most. My boas love them, but they constrict them so hard they occasionally pop (gross). My malagasy giant hogs eat them with gusto.

my bearded dragon loves reptilinks. he was a super slow eater or would go on hunger strikes for whatever reason. vet came to the conclusion he was a diva. once i switched to these that little dude noms them no problem. i think he wasnt getting the proper nutrients with his picky eating.
@theflyingdutchguy98708 ай бұрын
kinda weird that even a king cobra would care more about the smell of the prey rather than how it looks. because king cobra's are so visually oriented. and ball pythons do commonly chill in trees in some area's in africa during the raining season.

I had a Burmese Python and Reticulated Python that would only eat live rats. The Retic was a master at head shots and quick kills. The Burmese got DESTROYED by a larger rat when she was almost 2 and +8'. It was a blood bath, and I was on the rat in a few seconds. After that, I went to dead rabbits, and she hit them as I was putting them in the tank. Wish I had known sooner!

I have my 3 year old lavender albino ball python in a 2x2x4 foot enclosure with 2 branches running the length of the enclosure about 6 inches apart at slightly different levels and she loves to climb them every night. However she also falls off of them several times every night. But at least it’s not very far down only about 12- 16 inches.

What you have as a temporary house is far, far better than many animals experience. It’s a very nice setup. I hope you don’t feel like you have to go into such detail because you’ve been so badly trolled. As far as feeding snakes in captivity, I don’t have problem with them or any animal hunting and eating live prey in the wild. I see no reason, provided they receive the nutrition they require, to do it in captivity. I’ve seen video of animals with severe infections from prey trying to defend themselves. And the prey hasn’t got a chance…in the wild most hunting attempts are unsuccessful. I don’t have a problem with feeding dead prey at all. The prey doesn’t suffer and the predator has no risk of injury. I believe where possible we should try to reduce suffering not increase it. I also have concerns about the at which age children should watch such videos and that there should be some discussion around why it happens in the wild, the ethics of keeping animals in captivity, how they should be kept, etc., what it would mean if humans did this, etc. I had those kind of discussions with my father and later with my own sons. I’ve seen and heard some very disturbing responses from kids and teens who saw this kind of material without any context.

We over feed all our pets…and don’t do the research needed to give them what they need. My Bassett would eat himself into oblivion if we let him. He would become obese and become at risk of a ruptured disc in his spine while jumping down from furniture, which would require euthanasia. If I remember correctly an obese dog’s life is shortened by at least 2 years.

Our biggest Askulap is 1.80 m we are happy about, because they are eat the Mouse and rats about in and out our house. But thise is the point!
