Purdy is above average, but the reason there's so much backlash against him is because the media can't help but compare him to Tom Brady at every chance (Dan did it the very next sentence after wondering why people don't like Purdy). Hearing "he's the league MVP! he's on the same trajectory as Brady!" gets old when you see him make a handful of horrific throws every game but he gets continuously bailed out by luck, his elite skill players, and his coaches.
