What a lot of Americans don't understand is that China wants to work with The US and Make America Great again, but the US govt has been barking at China like a crazy dog. The US MSM smears China for their ratings and the politicians promotes rhetoric of China hate to gain votes. We regular folks have to think what have we gained from the US MSM and politicians other than their negative view points and bleak outlook on life. Why can't they operate in a tone that leads to a healthier relationship and works towards peace, stability, and prosperity with countries around the world especially China?

As an American I will say that the Americans in this interview are of a special and rare breed. They are intelligent, open minded, adventurous, friendly, and cultured. Most of us are not like this. @johnbotsford689710 ай бұрын
@@selohcin, that’s true but it depends on many things. I’m retired so I made my money in the US. If you have a degree in English or teaching and are willing to teach English you might find a position at a University or at an American company that needs someone to teach for their company. For me I found it tight living on my retirement in the US. Now I live on 40% and save the rest. Necessities are much cheaper here. Things like food, transportation and medicine. Luxuries are expensive like anything imported. Very luxurious things are more expensive than the US like sports cars, some jewelry and imported food like frozen steaks from the US. I love Chinese food. About every other month I eat a Mac Donalds burger that are about the same quality and price as the US.
@harrysmith851510 ай бұрын
I have been to both China and US. I felt US is glorified by media and US living quality is not that high evidenced by life expectancy and health care service level.
@harrysmith851510 ай бұрын
Take life expectancy of both China and US as example. In 1950 China life expectancy is about 38 vs US 68. After 71 years, in 2021 China life expectancy is 78.2 vs US 76.1( latest figure by CDC , US life expectancy dropped by 3 in 2020-2021 period from 79.1 originally). China expectancy increase by 40 years while US increase by 8 years only. China life expectancy increase 5 time faster than US. Also Look at health care by comparing MMA rate( maternal mortality rate): in 1950 China maternal mortality is 1500 women death per 100,000 birth vs US 100 women death per 100,000 births. In 2021, China MMA is 16.1 vs US 23.8 per 100,000 (the lower the number , the better health care service level) . Infant mortality rate: in 1950 China infant mortality is 195 death per 1000 birth vs US 26.8 death per 1000 births. In 2021, China infant mortality rate drop to 5 per 1000 vs US 5.4 per 1000 birth. And people in China retire at 55 years old on average to access pension. About 12 years earlier than US's 67 years requirement while some countries may not have pension at all. It means an American need work extra 40*52*12=25,000 hrs in his life than an average person in China. It also means an American only has 9 years to enjoy retirement while an average person in China has 23 years to enjoy retirement. And it is not means or asset tested when access pension in China. It means you get your pension monthly even you stay overseas, are a multi-millionaire or have another job after retirement. Singapore is another example of one party system. Its gdp is highest among Asia.

Everyone wants a secure future and everyone wants to be able to make a living. 10 years ago I made the decision to move out of California to Russia and never regretted it. I also stayed a year in Beijing after covid and it was magnificent.
@selohcin10 ай бұрын
Russia? Don't the jobs pay very little there? I can't imagine your standard of living improved unless you either 1) had a ton of money saved up before you moved or 2) you work some kind of remote tech job that can be done anywhere and allows you to earn an American salary and pay your living costs in Russia. That sounds like a recipe for disaster if an average working man tried that.
@jinkazama749110 ай бұрын
@lijianbai Not sure what you mean by adorable 😂 but as far as living is concern I’m gonna say Russia, mainly because I was there longer and I own a couple of properties and a business there. I only spent a year in China but it was a fantastic year. I travelled all over from Guangdong to Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing and to Xinjiang. I wanted to visit Harbin but had insufficient time. Just like Russia, China is rich in culture and advance in tech and infrastructure. Overall both countries were amazing and had much to offer.
@MrInsaneCranium10 ай бұрын
could you share your experiences in russia? i've never been to russia, very curious
@jinkazama749110 ай бұрын
@@MrInsaneCranium Gladly ! After spending 10 years here all I can say is, it has been an amazing journey. The Russian people are some of the warmest, friendliest, laid back bunch I’ve ever come across. They will give you the cold shoulder at first but that’s because they don’t trust you but once you win their trust, they’ll trust you whole heartedly sometimes even naively. The Russians also have their own specific cultures and beliefs, one could say they’re not you’re average European if you can even consider them Europeans at all. There’s a saying here, “Russians are not Europeans and they’re not Asians. Russians are Russians.” And thats pretty true to the bone. Politically, I have no beef with the current Russian government. I don’t exactly agree with 100% of they say but I do agree with most of it. And looking at the situation, the Russians couldn’t ask for someone better. Just my opinion, you’re free to disagree. I live in the small town of Veliky Novgorod, the oldest town in Russian history, extremely beautiful scenery, very historic and full of culture. I own 2 businesses here. One in Veliky and another in Kamchatka. So i will be travelling between the 2 pretty often and on my rest days I love to take flight to Moscow and walk around Red Square then dine at my favourite restaurant or cafe. Or I will take a drive down to St Petersburg and visit the winter palace and chill at my friends cafe. Another question I regularly get is about racism, and for someone who has lived in white Russia as an East Asian for the last 10 years I have yet to come across any forms of racism or discrimination of any kind. Overall it’s a great place to live, historically and culturally rich. People are friendly, conservative and religious. And the government here actually provides the people with free quality healthcare and many other perks which will not be present in the United States. The living wages here are lower than that of the US but compare to the states it’s enough by pay your rent/mortgage, bills, put proper food on the table, send your kids to school and get you a full tank of gas. And if you save up a few months you can even travel for a vacation.

Many places near China are good choices - south east and central, because of the growth perspective in the next few decades due to peace and BRI initiative. Let’s hope the region is not disturbed by the warmongers in the west. Let’s hope the political leaders in that region have the wisdom to keep the region free from regional conflicts.

I once read about a guy whose parents lived in one of the Eastern bloc countries during the Cold War - Hungary or maybe Poland, whatever. When she was an old woman in her sixties she finally joined her children in the States and she couldn’t stop weeping, “We were told that Americans are miserable, that they are all starving! They lied to us!!” Today America is doing the exact same thing to its people about China.

China is the most beautiful country in the world if you let your mind wonder and explore the vast land that it is. It is like Alice in Wonderland if you are creative enough to travel. When doing business in China, there is no rule against selling certain goods to the United States. Although China is on par with the United States in chips, cars, lasers and other technologies. No one gets discriminated against and shot in China, you can still walk down the street alone after 8 o 'clock at night in China without being robbed. If you are a Fortune 500 company, you can enjoy more tax benefits and lower production and labor costs in China. This is the reason why the US government does not want Americans to go to China and portrays China as an evil empire. The American news often shows the streets of China, full of cows and pigs and bicycles, but that was 50 years ago.

Practically speaking, one can't just simply "move" to China, even if one is inclined to do so. I know this from extensive personal experience. I had lived and worked in China for many years, but have since left China. From my own experience, it is extremely difficult to obtain a Chinese Green card. Also, one cannot obtain a short-term tourist Visa to China without having a local Chinese sponsor (unless you're in a tour group and the tour group operator obtains your Visa). If you have obtained employment in China, you can of course obtain a work Visa, but without formal employment in China, it is very difficult to obtain a Visa to live in China. As tensions with the US mount, the difficulty of trying to move to China for foreigners has increased in my experience.
@normantang745610 ай бұрын
Yup, you are completely right. How do I start living in China? I can't do much with a tourist visa. Renting a flat, buying a home, etc. requires a residence status, I believe.

You might want to consider getting Hong Kong or Taiwan status first, and then go back to mainland China. I guess this could serve as an alternative solution😂
@davidk62699 ай бұрын
@@spriteveryday1627 yes, student visas and work visas are possible, but in practice you need to be accepted by a Chinese educational institution that is willing to sponsor the visa, and obtaining a work visa in China is increasingly difficult for foreigners for a variety of reasons. Obtaining a visa to live in China is not impossible, but increasingly difficult in practice. I hope that the stars align for all those seeking to do so!

During the late 1980s I went to grad school in the US for my MBA & MS in Aero Engineering. As a Singaporean, I made a few life long US friends there. One is even my son's godmother. The one thing all my US friends share is that they lived and worked overseas at some point (some have settled overseas). Their life perspectives are international and they have a live and let live attitude towards others. I sincerely thank you and the other Americans in this video (and my own friends!) for your intellectual honesty and open-heartedness in trying to build cross-cultural understanding. We need to build up, not tear down, the only world we have. Life doesn't have to be a zero-sum conflict. I'm not naive enough to believe attitudes will change for the better in places where the fear of no longer being the top dog drives actions. For people in those places who see it this way and leave, I say bravo to you and don't look back. Open-minded and adaptable people like you are welcome wherever you choose to settle. Life is too short to waste time hankering after dubious past glories. We can't relive the past but can choose how we live the future.

I immigrated to America in 1984 at the age of 24! I would say I came here at tail end of America's golden age After WWII to the 90s, just like China is now, America was a manufacturing power house in mid 40s to 60s, think about American cars, appliances, not to mention food stuffs all over the world ! Social programs resulting from great depressions in the 30s and high growth ( thus constant wage increase, retiring w great pensions ) I remember watching US movie in theater in Macau, I marvel at how prosper and "free" USA was!( White picket suburban hours, traveling on highway with US made car! ) Even though I didn't" dream" of living here, i did end up here because of family ties and I do well because I understand the importance of living under my means ( which is not the case with a lots of American ) and investing prudently! For this generation it will be very hard to replicate those American dream! Since late 60 middle class has been losing grounds from dismantling of unionizations and pensions systems to skyrocketing cost of medical and education costs, now inflating cost of daily livings! Unless you came from a dirt poor countries ( it's a upgrade ),"American Dream" is no longer! That's why we have crazy politics and misinformations campaign ( mostly China ), almost like a distraction to it's citizens how dire live become day by day! You really have to swim very hard to stay afloat here now! There're cycles in every country development, it's Just a matter of being at the right time at the right place! I remember one KZbinr commented her friend teach in China for few years and saved enough money to go back to US to buy a house, I'll be very hard living US where you live paycheck to paycheck! Just my little humble input!
