These are great entry level ham radios. they can also monitor police/fire/ems... frequencies. I like to set one to the fish and game police when we go hunting. It's real fun hearing them talk and describe what some one who they think might be poaching looks like. (beard, orange vest, pants...DUH)

Be careful how you use it. Do you have a HAM license? Is the FCC likely to track you down? Probably not, but as the title of this video suggests, some may use it as an excuse to cause more trouble.

In big parts that is true, but I've heard of someone who grew a hedge, built a shed in it, but at a certain moment the inspection checked in and he could start all over, but had to a permit that time. Think he was living in a village and not further in the countryside, since there aren't permits required for sheds (if memory serves)

Here (France) it's quite the same in rural area. In peri urban area, most people "forget" to ask a permit for small building/pools, and if discover we pay a fine and regularize it. It's very very uncommon to have to destroy it.

Back in my college days, cutting hair was a great way to get a bunch of beer and pizza money! Somewhere along the way.. I mounted up 2 movable mirrors and started cutting my own. I only would value my expertise at the $30 - $50 range, so.. I wouldn’t attempt a high dollar fade with design patterns on myself, I’m not saying it is that easy, there is definitely a little bit of building a nak for doing things backwards in the mirror. Hardest part back when I started was sourcing some of the equipment, and more.. being willing to try it. Best part now however is that that equipment was bought and paid for.. long ago! Secondly, being able to look fresh without the need of scheduling an appointment. Quick touch up before going to work, or.. on a whim.. a fresh cut on any given evening or.. in the middle of the night, it saves so much time! General rule.. If I cut the grass.. I give myself a haircut that same day. I have an important meeting, or last minute event.. I can show up looking fresh.

My room was 12x12 with a 2x10 closet along one wall for storage...I paid $300/mo but opted for an extra A/C unit which added $50/mo for the electricity. There were also 4 refrigerators...so two people per fridge made my monthly grocery haul pretty easy...it was a nice place to live.

Do you live closer to rural county or big city? I’m a little in between and realized a few years ago that it was worth a little longer drive to work for an old house in the country instead of living in an apartment in the city just to be close to work. The rent house ended up being $200 cheaper so it really was worth it or me. It also came with 8 acres with a pond.

I'm not sure how prevalent it is elsewhere, but in San Diego anyway, rooms in some houses are rented individually and bathroom and kitchen facilities shared. Somewhat like the old TV show "Three's Company." Another potential idea is the Containerized Housing Unit or CHU. A score or two of 8' x 20' shipping containers are modified into living quarters and stacked to form a sort of apartment complex, but with certain areas shared such as dayroom, exercise room, and the kitchen. When completed, it's difficult to tell that it's built out of shipping containers.

I used to use a Electric Wire tracer Open the clean out at the exit of the house Push in a solid steel fish tape ( used to pull wire in conduit ) , if you have steel drain lines Use a short section of PVC conduit to shield the steel drain lines Push the fish tape into the drain line till it stops or you think you are at the septic tank Now the interesting part , hook the wire tracer to the fish tape and you can follow the signal to the septic tank or as far as you were able to push in the fish tape I have a wire tracer that can use 110 volt , dangerous to anyone that touches any attached metal drain if you let it contact steel drain lines with the fish tape But I was able to pin point the spot where a 2" PVC conduit was broken 150 feet from the Shop were it got power from But but for shorter distances , the wire tracer also could use 9 - 24 volt power to power the wire tracer That makes tracing drain lines or conduits easy and fast

One time we moved into an upstairs apartment, two guys (professional movers) carried a 100-year-old piano up two flights of stairs using a slightly larger version of those that went over their shoulders. Took about the same amount of time it took me to carry up one box of stuff. I was very happy to pay for that job, those guys earned every cent. When we moved out of there, on the other hand, we ended up going with a different company, and the three guys who did the job couldn't figure out how to get the piano down the stairs until I told them how it was done, and even then they nearly dropped it twice. It hasn't sounded quite right ever since. :-( They charged more, too...

If you pour it out of the container like that it it will spill. Try to turn it "upside down" so the opening is at the top when you start pouring. To get it out without spilling is at first tricky this way but once you get the hang of it flows much better out of the container. Try with a water container first ;-)
