Listening to the intro, I was struck by how much dynamic range you had on the clean tone - it really seemed perfectly sensitive to your pick attack....but then the full on fuzz came on and just WOW...took me a minute to get my mouth off the floor. The sound just fit in perfectly with what you were doing. Nicely done, man.

Definitely going to get this one in the future. Im new to the world of fuzz, but im jumping head first into it. My first introduction to it was a Big Muff Pi which wasnt my cup of tea and made me not have any interest in fuzz for years until i tried a Spaceman Effects Sputnik III. That pedal opened my eyes to the wonderful possibilities of fuzz. I recently got the OCE Wrench V2 which was my first Fuzz Face circuit and now in hooked. Immediately GASed and bought a used Kasleder King of Stone to try another Fuzz Face and try my first germanium treble booster. Now i just want to try more fuzz circuits. A Zonk circuit is definitely next.

Try the Spaceman Gemini IV & Nebula. Also, the Black Arts Pharaoh is one of my favorite fuzzes of all time & it doesn’t get nearly enough love. I hardly ever see it mentioned in any videos. I’ve owned many fuzzes over the years & I’ve never considered getting rid of my Pharaoh.

Beautiful review as always. I've moved back and forth between this and your review of the About 900, a pedal that I have. They have similar strengths, but of course different designs. I'd be interested to know your opinion, Mark - are these two tonally different enought to warrant having both on the board?

I forgot to film the take but during the heavy part of the intro song the right channel, higher guitar chords are that ‘72 mustang as well. That guitar is a treasure and I don’t play it enough.

Another great video Mark! Really highlights the range on textural sounds in this pedal. Quick question, I am thinking about switching up my direct rig a bit and was interested in your experience. I have a Strymon Iridium at the moment but am looking for something with a bit extra. Choice is between a Milkman The Amp 100, with the Iridium for stereo cabs, or something like your current set up with the Ruby and Dream. Just wanted to know which you found most flexible/hit the sounds you wanted most consistently. Also, what the easiest way to hook the Ruby and Dream up to a pair of headphones may be. Finally, you seem to be big into the Neunaber Illumine right now; how do you feel it stacks up as a catch all reverb compared to the Big Sky or Goldern Reverberator? Sorry for all the questions!

The parallel UA rig is tied with my quad cortex for my favorite stereo direct rig I’ve used. The polarity issues in the UA rig are mildly annoying but easily fixed. But building out my little parallel stereo rig ends up being nearly the cost of a quad cortex as it is and the QC can rival it and do a lot more. The illumine is great. I’ve mostly been using it, in truth, because it’s only 100mA and the power in using with this board doesn’t have enough output for a stronger verb. But I LOVE the vintage digital mode. It’s a top 5 reverb algo for me and it’s EVERY reverb in this video.

Origin bassrig super vintage into UA’s 1176 and a low in the mix cla bass in parallel. Most of what you’re hearing is just the bassrig into the 1176. The intro bass swells, however, are the new synth bass plugin from Felt.

Ah man. I loved Dredg back in the day. I think El Cielo and As Cities Burn’s Come Now Sleep probably did more to inform my approach to telecaster tone than anyone else. Dredg in particular is one of my wife’s all time favorite bands.
