Also consider that a shitload of cargo (albeit not dangerous or bulky goods - these are still cargo aircraft only) goes onboard passenger flights, a lot of it being mail, and there’s probably going to be even more cargo capacity that they can cram in because they don’t have luggage or weight to worry about, they can basically haul as much cargo as they want.

@@uzaiyaro At least one airline, China Eastern, is removing seats to be able to more easily cargo on the main deck. Very good video. I am retired after 33 years in aviation and i see things just like you. The biggest danger is non current pilots and grounded airplanes. Most people have no idea what has to happen to an airplane to keep it fly able. For instance the engines have to be run for a certain amount of time at certain rpm and teperatures every week or two depending on the engine to maintain warranty, to keep things lubricated, to prevent leaks, and to prevent corrosion. These machines need to be operated regularly if you want them to operate. The longer they set, the more it is going to take to make them airworthy again. All the systems need to be operated and brought up to temperature, kept there for a while, regularly. If things set for a few months it is not going to be easy getting the planes back in the air reliably. The same with the pilots. Flying is a depreciating or deteriorating skill if not used regularly. It is going to take awhile. Plus undoubtedly a certain number of flight crew, mechanics, and ground crew will move on and will have to be replaced. If this lasts very long it will be a mess if not handled absolutely correctly. Be safe!

Freight - Because a lot less planes are flying, the prices for freight have *gone 5x.* Tourists - A lot of people are still at holiday destinations and need to get home. I like how KLM is handling things, converting part of their planes to cargo, to keep earning money as much as possible. They have quite a few dual purpose planes. They are also caring really well for their personnel, with some help from the Dutch government. Flying double crews, putting food on the chairs before the passengers, equipment to isolate passengers with symptoms, adjusting schedules so personnel doesn't have to stay at the destination, etc.

Contrails
@Seriously_Unserious4 жыл бұрын
@@RicktheRecorder Contrails are when a plane is flying at an altitude high enough to be above the condensation line, where clouds may form where you get a line of cloud forming behind a jet's engines due to the extra moisture being released by the engines meeting the cold air and triggering condensation. Contrails typically break up behind the jet at roughly the same speed the jet's traveling at to the contrail will be roughly the same length behind the plane. Chemtrails are clouds of some substance being sprayed out behind a plane. Unlike those clouds of condensation, Chemtrails don't break up as the condensation evaporates, they will spread out over time, blowing with the wind. I've actually seen this happen in the skies over Vancouver, 1-4 planes will be flying back and forth over the city, leaving a grid pattern of these expanding clouds of chemicals. I've even taken a closer look at these planes with binoculars and can see the stuff is not coming from behind the engines, but from spray nozzles mounted near the rear of the plane. These planes will also often be flying too low for contrails to form, as other planes flying in and out of YVR at about the same altitudes and time will NOT be producing any visible Contrails behind them.
@DaveMiller24 жыл бұрын
@@RicktheRecorder Modern jet engines are incapable of making contrails in most conditions. Back in the 70s -90s it was different. Modern high-bypass turbofans - which are used on virtually all large commercial and military aircraft - burn much less fuel per unit of ejected air; often 25% less fuel. Therefore, they produce much less water vapor than older engines.

In The States, if any airline took bailout money, part of the deal was that they must still fly, and they must not lay anyone off. I've had a question burning in my mind for a long time now: Why are aviation radio transmissions so staticky and garbled? I get much better sound quality when I use my phone to talk to somebody on the other side of the planet! Thx, and keep up the great work you do!
@roiq52634 жыл бұрын
That's because your phone uses digitalized sound.
@djinn6664 жыл бұрын
Phone calls are 100% digital nowadays, so if the signal is bad, you get pieces of the audio dropped from the call, but the remaining bit you are able to receive is very clear. Aviation radio is still using the same analog tech developed during WWII so any signal degradation reduces the sound quality.
@StSeya420694 жыл бұрын
also a lot of those recordings are done somewhere without perfect line of sight to the aircraft or tower antenna.
@robhulluk4 жыл бұрын
The signal for your mobile is only going through the air a very short distance to the nearest cell tower, then across cables to the other side of the planet, then possibly a short distance from a cell tower to the receiving mobile. Radio transmissions from a plane travelling several hundred miles per hour is a different matter.
@stevewausa4 жыл бұрын
Air traffic uses AM like a terrestrial radio station only with much lower power, so there is more static

15:33 Here in the USA, the “local” in “Listen to your local authorities” has a special meaning, as our national authority is in utter chaos, and considers stock portfolios more important than human life. It’s fortunate that we are a federation.

RickySTT it’s not all about stock portfolios, which is another liberal jab at the hated”rich”, A great many Americans have retirements and invest in the market. But that’s not the point. If we crash the entire economy for an extended period because 80% of us can’t work. This has many unintended consequences. Potential civil unrest, hunger, etc. A doctor was talking about this the other day, that the “cure” can actually be worse than the problem. Not to mention, we’re writing all these blank “stimulus” checks for trillions.., Where do you think the government gets its revenue from? If no one is working, and commerce stops, the taxes stop coming in at the same time we’re spending money we don’t remotely have..

If I said last year I will give you 5 trillion how many lives could you save with it you would probably rightly say hundreds of of millions. And looking at the billions governments are already pumping into airlines, I dont have much to worry about. And maybe thats how it spread,b ut people are going to want, and are going to, return to live as normal after this is over, just like after 1918. I am already going crazy after two weeks. I want to go back to restaurants, anime conventions, wild sex parties in LGBT clubs, etc, and I will be going back to all those things the second this is over. LITERALLY EVERYONE I know is saying the same thing! And the same is true for travel. I wanna go to Japan and I WILL GO TO JAPAN after this, and I will gladly use one of the undoubtedly coming stimulus packages to do so!

@@florencegomer7937 Italy outbreak was detected after it became big enough, initial population might be lower but dynamics will play the same way, just delayed in time. Most other european countries were a domino behind the Italian piece falling, even if China moves quickly, chances are that it will give even more fake-confidence that the virus won't go into Europe and will stay China-only.
@kenmore014 жыл бұрын
@@Arag0n Delaying helps in two ways aside from keeping hospitals from being overcome: 1st, if the virus can be slowed down, it loses strength. It feeds by spreading. It doesn't care if a host dies, it will die in a couple weeks anyway. If it can spread, that makes it stronger as a whole. 2nd, it gives people more time to make a cure or vaccine. That may not happen, but if it can, there is more time. It's a logical strategy, but the economic strain is very large!
@jimmym33524 жыл бұрын
Only works if the host country is forthcoming with the virus epidemic which they weren't. Italy was the first country to stop flights from China, but it didn't matter. They became the hardest hit.

From personal observation, domestic flights on routes that typically are flown multiple times a day have seen dramatic cutbacks/cancellations. (Say from 4-6 trips a day to ~2 if that.). Less frequent regional feeder service from small airports on Delta seems largely untouched.
