I can totally feel what you say. Growing up in Taiwan, I was brainwashed about China for 20+ years, by not only my schools but even my parents. Till today they and many if my Taiwanese friends do not accept the reality of China being a modern prosperous and safe place, whereas I have traveled there a dozen times or so on business and leisure and absolutely admire what the mainland Chinese have done. I'm proud to call myself a Chinese and hope I can contribute more to its rejuvenation, even against the prejudice of my family and friends in Taiwan.
I've been to China and I'd travelled many of their Cities. I was blown away with the advancements of China's infrastructure, the health of its Citizens, the respect they give to each other, their food, the technologies carried by their Citizens, the modern attire worn by their Citizens ... China is NOTHING LIKE what we are told back in the Western World (I've been to many USA Cities as well and they do NOT compare). China is well into the 22nd Century while the Western World are still grappling with the 21st Century. I felt safe in China. No-one was armed with guns - not even the Police. There was NO graffiti, and I did not see any people living in the streets. China is a beautiful country. So ... I have NO IDEA what the Western Media are on about. Oh, I'm an Aussie by the way.

We all have different experiences in life - and I guess the content people make reflects that. Unfortunately, at the moment, China is just so polarising - so regardless of what you say, you are bound to upset someone... You can't please everyone! I think it is strange that you are almost forced to choose a side, and are labeled, but just like everything else in life, there actually is a spectrum, and we all fall somewhere differently along that spectrum... And that's okay. What isn't okay is personal attacks on people that fall differently on that spectrum. At the same time, we are always learning and forming new opinions every day as things evolve and change, so your position on that spectrum isn't always fixed either. Anyway, it was good to hear your thoughts on this topic, hope all is good with you.

I can accept differences of opinions, it is the lies and the hypocrisy that gets me. The Western World has gone off the cliff with hypocrisy in the last 10 years, and it has been truly amplified during Trump's 4 years as President. We end up being completely different persons because of the different experiences we've lived. I also spent a couple months in China back in 2010 and I still miss my days in that great country. A huge mistake people make is comparing China to other countries when they should actually compare it to other continents! It is not that people do not know that China's progress and science and technology development are very good, but some people deliberately pretend to be blind. Because of wanting politics to discredit, in order to spread false information and hatred. China and the United States are competitors, and when the American opponent is unfriendly and does not want China to be invaded by the West, one day will surpass them one day. Then they will want to control public opinion and spread false information to make people hate China. Therefore, the United States and his NATO brothers have spread false information and negative news for China. In the final analysis, everything is because of politics, just want to stop China from rising.
