There seems to be two opposing camps when it comes to the image of the expat - brave adventurers trying to find a better life for their retirement, or lecherous, dirty old men with one thing on their minds? So what's the truth? When a man relocates to another country to seek female companionship, does that make him a sexpat? Why did YOU come to the Philippines?

The truth is western women seem to think men come dime a dozen. Morally it is starting to break down because of tv and movie stars. Most think the movie life is real life. Men here don't work 20 plus years to see their mates leave with kids and move 6 states away. Also they don't want to pay alimony and palimony for someone that says they are not compatible anymore because their friends are either richer or have the rock star boyfriend or husband. Women here don't cook and clean anymore. Watching Oprah or Dr. Phil is their way of life. Men don't go to the Philippines for sex. They go because Filipino women are not looking for the richest guy or the rock star status. American women might think Filipino women are just taking advantage but y'all have a moral code, open to us making the choice, and are sexy. Yes if I was to come there it would take awhile to adjust to the scenery (half naked women) but I know at the end of the day once I won someone's heart she would be more likely to be with me the next day. In the U.S. there are just too many options for a woman to get out of a relationship and take half of what men work for plus the money and kids. If the guy is older he more than likely isn't sexting and sowing his oaths. He is truly looking for a woman that will love him till his last breath. I can call American women spoiled as well but there are some that are good also but when diamonds are a girls best friend you might want to sift through the pile a little more. So am I yucky because I want a relationship with a woman? No most men simply put are older because most the same age as me are already taken. It's like when I was 18. No older women wants a younger man and you are too old to date younger girls. You're stuck in a age gap. In the Philippines there are no age gaps except in those illegal persons dating young girls below the legal limit. Why would I want to date a Filipino woman? If anything it would mean a loving relationship that no one wants out of. Thanks Pea!!!

May I suggest doing a video on the opposite side of the equation? - All the Filipinos who move overseas for better opportunities. There are a number of articles on Filipino overseas workers at nationalgeographic.com including "Why 10 million Filipinos endure hardship abroad as overseas workers" from December, 2018. Do you know any Filipinos who moved overseas?

Pea, thanks for your content, could you and your lawyer buddy do one on Foreigner protection or self-defense? What can we do or not do and the legal Consequences of our actions? I know we can’t carry a firearm, but what about a knife or mace or even a big stick? Will the foreigner always be the guilty party in a fight even if we were only protecting ourself or our property? Also, if we are in a wreck while driving a car or motorcycle, with or without a Philippines driver’s license and with or without Philippines drivers insurance, will we always be the guilty party? Same for personal liability insurance for our condo, house, hotel, or Airbnb, whether we own it or renting it, do we need it or would it even help? So what can we do to protect ourself and property, what can we do to protect ourself from liability claims against us, if someone gets hurt while at your place or in your company? There could be many aspects of this subject to explore and new content for you. Thanks

After two failed marriages to Americans, a Filipina friend in the US suggested I look into finding a Filipina. A few years later, I found an awesome, educated girl who accepted me for who I am and matches my weirdness. We've been together 11 years now and by moving to the Philippines and working online, I paid off almost all my debts, saved enough cash to Travel consistently with my wife, and got rid of 90% of my stress.

Spot on again! After my life was burned down more than once in the US by women that think a relationship is all about them, I remembered what I had heard years ago about Filipinas being devoted, affectionate, traditional, compassionate, and will fight fiercely to protect a relationship and keep it interesting once you have worked to gain her trust! Not to mention the fact that if you have your ducks in a row, and treat her with love and kindness, she will make you feel that the relationship is all about you. If I had just looked there years ago, I would have found that woman then, but as it so happens, I have found her now, and I'm the happiest I've ever been! So, for a guy that is sincere, respectful, gentle, wants to take the time to show a Filipina that you only have eyes for her to gain her trust (which isn't easy, but if you have a true heart you will persevere) and that you will take care of her, she will take care of you beyond your wildest dreams! 😉♥️

Confession: I am guilty of going to the Philippines to mainly have fun but after meeting many wonderful nice ladies in the Philippines the attitude has changed and am now receptive to getting involved in a monogamous relationship. The bottom line is if you are surrounded by good positive people those characteristics become contagious.

I love your channel Pea. I recently went back to college to further my tech career, software application development degree. Being an older college student has its challenges in itself. One of my professors mentioned that he teaches online from central America. I mentioned that I wanted to work remotely or for a company in the Philippines. My fellow classmates brought on the hate very quickly for all the reasons you mentioned. Yet, when you mention trying to start over in a beautiful country full of good people with the same traditional values that I have. My words fell on deaf ears. I cannot wait till the day that I can call the Philippines my home.

Ah Pea you are absolutely right! I have an adult married daughter and a single son in Australia. The cost of houses in Australia is so expensive that they can't afford a house of their own, so they live together in the house I own there. They have their own lives, and are supportive of my marriage to my Filipina wife and my move to the Philippines. If I stayed in Australia, I would have needed to work until nearly the age of 70, and would have struggled on the aged pension then because of the cost of living. Living in Mindanao is like turning over a new leaf for me. Like you said, a new life, a new family, and a second chance at a relationship which is based on mutual love, and not sex. My wife is 56. I've had people say to me "Why didn't you look for a younger woman?". I tell them i was personally introduced to my wife and I could trust her and her family. I say I came here for love, which is the truth. My wife tells me to stay home and relax, because I worked hard all my life. She continues to work hard at her business. It astounded me that she would always give me a pedicure and manicure, and a haircut. I was married for 31 years to my late wife in Australia, and she never did any of those things. I could have become a sad old man, which is what happened to my dad after my mum died, but instead I am a new man. Ang isang hari sa aking munting kastilyo! Ah yes, and I have had the pleasure of learning Tagalog and Mindanao Cebuano, plus a little Chavacano and some of my wife's tribal language, Higaonon Binukid. Then there's the karaoke at home, and the Red Horse beer, both of which I regularly enjoy with my family here!

Dear Pea, Like a fine wine, your insights continue to improve with age and time! What we foreigners love, as you note, is the kindness, the respect for "experience", and knowing that the love we give to a Filipina will be reciprocated many times over. From the bloggers that I have seen, most tended to go to the Philippines because they would have a chance to live a good life on a restricted retirement income, in a warm climate. Finding someone who loves them for who they are, was just a bonus.

CONGRATULATIONS 🙏👍 BUT PLEASE BE VERY CARFUL AND AWARE THAT YOU ARE NOT PLAYED THERE !! DONT LET NOBODY TO CONTROL YOUR MONEY 💰 ... NEITHER DONT TELL YOUR NEW GIRLFRIEND WHAT YOU HAVE OR WHAT YOU DONT HAVE , THAT WAY YOU WILL KEEP THE GOLD DIGGERS AWAY FROM YOU ,, IF NOT THEN DONT COMPLAINT ABOUT YOUR LIFE GOING BAD AGAIN WITH THE WOMAN FROM THERE AS WELL , WOMAN ARE THE SAME AT ALL COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD 🌎 SOME ARE GOOD AND OTHERS ARE BAD ,, SO WHAT I MEAN ITS THAT PEOPLE ARE JUST PEOPLE. NOW HAPPINESS ITS UP TO YOU .DONT BLAME THE WOMAN IN USA 🇺🇸 BECAUSE NOT ALL THE WOMAN ARE BAD NEITHER , THERE ARE ALSO A LOT A WONDERFUL WOMAN HERE IN USA 🇺🇸, JUST KEEP YOUR EYES 👀 OPEN BECAUSE IF YOU DONT KNOW YOUR GIRLFRIEND FROM THE PHILIPPINES YET ,YOU MAY GET A NOT TOO SWEET SURPRISE AND END ROBBED BY A NOT FAITHFUL WOMAN THERE ..( ALSO ASK YOURSELF IF MAY BE THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE WOMAN AROUND YOUR LIFE ?? BUT MAY BE THE PROBLEM IS YOURSELF ?? AS A MAN MAYBE YOU ARE NOT RESPECTFUL ,COURTEOUS ,CARING ,HONEST , RESPONSIBLE ,CONCERNED ,ETC ,ETC ??? .. GOOD LUCK THEN. ,, FIND YOURSELF FIRST ,THEN FIND THE RIGHT WOMAN FOR YOU AND HOPEFULLY YOU ARE THE RIGHT MEN FOR THAT WOMAN AS WELL . 👍🍀

Over the 18 years I have known my wife, we dated for several years before we married, I have came here 12 times for many vacations. I love it here. It isn't to meet a woman and it isn't because I am broke. I just love it here. The minor inconveniences do not bother me at all.

I fell in love with the Philippines on my first visit. I have been there many times since then. I'll admit, when I was young and single, my interest was primarily in the women. Filipinas are the most beautful and sexy women on earth!! But the more I visited, the more I embraced the people, culture, food and the natural beauty of the country. That's why my filipina wife and I will be retiring there soon. I'm so excited!!

"not everyone is looking for a twenty something woman" Do you try to say that you are - of course - the good guy, because your girlfriend / wife is around your age, but - of course - the other westerners (preferring a younger woman) are just "sexpats"? Does it mean the age of your significant other tells us if you're a nice guy or a bad guy? Do you know what "personal preferences" means? Just pure rhetorical questions; you not have to answer.😉

@@TheFilipinaPea Dear Pea, only a crusader could be gifted with the ability to go under the skin of others, body swapping, to express so correctly the real gut feelings of so many. It is definitely a new reality, a new clean slate, grabbing with both hands the opportunity to rebuild a new real life from the ground up, and this just before it could stop at what could have been the point of no return. Eyesight does improve with age, lessons have been learned, at long last, from past mistakes due to foolishness and the naivety of youth! In time to build up a sincere, meaningful and permanent new relationship, a second chance of happiness, with a feminine caring respectful and respected Filipina, herself equally happy to have found a faithful and dedicated responsible companion, a partner, a husband. And, for that, age is not a problem but an expression of maturity for ,and from, both parties. Thank you Pea for saying loudly what so many are thinking. 😊

I think what would be a good subject for a video would be the process to merry a Philippines woman traditions that need to be considered and the hurdles of getting married in the Philippines thanks Pea

Spot on as always young Pea. The Philippines nature is great, waterfalls, beautiful sand beaches, mountains the lot. The difference between The Philippines, and many other destinations though, is the people, or more specifically the women. Most guys who go there, have heard about how different the girls are to Western women. After experiencing women from their own country, it is only the better attitude, more gratitude and beauty of the Filipinas, that makes a Westerner, prepared to risk having another relationship. The Philippines, has saved many older guys from spending the rest of their lives alone. Hallelujah 😊

David Bond is a very smart guy, he get's all sorts of abuse but he turns that to his advantage, and ultimately a decent living online. I actually think him and Pea are pushing a similar message, but from different perspectives. The people that write bad comments are often creating a narrative to make themselves feel better about their own more conventional and somewhat more restrictive life. If you have limited ties to your country of birth, journeying to far away lands to start a new life is one of the best things you can do!

I can’t speak on behalf of anyone but myself, the only way I see the point of going to the PI would be to have a clean slate. In our life time we become several people. People that you are with will go through that same experience. However our timing may be off. I find it hard to look in the rear view mirror. We’ve all met or been with someone that wasn’t ready for our changes let alone their own. Sometimes a change of a partner just isn’t enough. You need a change of scenery. A place where who you have become is welcomed with no preconceived notions. Even as a kid many of us loved Halloween, we could be whoever we wanted to be. There was something free about those times. For some us that have gotten a little older, when we’re around people that know us they see our age. When we meet someone for the first thing all they see is you. I truly believe there are only a few people in this world that are perfect for us. The ones that can make us feel in the moment even through our changes. To everyone of you that has the courage to search the world for that special someone I admire you. My favorite song is Van Morrison, Someone like you. Every word strikes a cord in me.
