One thing about James I love how he is self aware and how whenever his mood his off he makes it a point to apologize without being asked to do so. I also really like how he stands up for Ellis, because Ellis won’t stand up for himself.

Just now getting to watch this episode and I actually really like Rem, because after the incident he doesn’t take shit from Fuhad for the rest of the episode. Very clipped with him, tried to get him on the UAE technicality, he’s the only one who stands on business and I do respect that

Rem’s reaction to Fuhad doubling down says all there is to say tbh. It’s all fun and games but a grown ass man straight up refusing to say “sorry bro, you know I didn’t mean anything by it” and keeping it moving is a huge ick

Real talk: does Fuhad even like Ellis, respectfully? Because it wasn’t Ellis that asked for an apology, it was James, REM, and the babies that noticed how he spoke to Ellis. After that you could see his snide remarks or dismissal of Ellis whenever Ellis speaks. Ellis may say that he doesn’t mind but when others point out problematic behavior towards yourself, you can’t help but feel insecure. That might be just me. It takes maturity to admit you’ve been harmful. This is wild

it kiiiiiiiiiiiiiinda makes sense to me cause they barely met Ellis through the podcast as an editor so they don't have that much time in with being friends and ACTUAL friends. BUT they all kinda poke fun at Ellis for being different than them. Fuhad takes it a bit too far and is too aggressive with it sometimes imo :/

I don't think so, tbh. I think Fuhad just tolerates Ellis. I can't imagine that they're friends outside of the Podcast. Even Rem doesn't seem particularly that close to Ellis, the only one who does is James. Which makes me think James met him first and was the one who hired him for the Podcast.

Legit the first time I have ever sensed/felt that kind of tension between any of them throughout the entirety of SnG podcast. I was in the same "why so serious" camp as Fuhad until I saw the other's reactions to Fuhad's doubling down. I sensed the other 3 legitimately felt more serious about how Fuhad spoke to Ellis, than Fuhad was taking it. Makes me wonder about group dynamics 🤔

As an avid Masterchef watcher James is spot on about black chefs, I always try to root for them but nah. I’m also hyped for Lauren and Phillipe this season. She (Lauren) was so gassed on ig that James is rooting for her.
@RachelJenkins728

You know, I disagreed with James on that one. As an avid cooking competition watcher, home cook/baker, recipe tester, I’ve noticed that Black chefs (and other PoC chefs) lean on the flavors they grew up on (usually Caribbean or African). The problem is, “fine dining” and the training that a lot of chefs receive at the CIA or Le Cordon Blue (for example), is HEAVY on “classic” European cooking techniques. So much so that the food we grew up eating, a cooking style that we’ve mastered, isn’t considered good enough because it’s not French cooking techniques. Why is that the standard? Why is formal training that centers (white) European techniques the norm??

@@RachelJenkins728the point of the show is testing their various skills and adaptability in the kitchen. It’s not about testing how well you can cook your go-to cuisine. & it’s not just Black chefs who struggle in that show with that adaptability and skills issue. To be a MASTER chef, they want to know that you can cook many different cuisines, using a wide array of ingredients, using many cooking methods, etc.
