I add Bonemeal/super phosphate/mustard cake/NPK 15-15-15 ( mainly used to 🍅) and Potash. I make a 100 GM's mix and add 50/50 to it. @larrytischler5703 жыл бұрын
There are three major types of citrus that fruit differently. 1. Lemons and limes are tropicals and can bloom almost any month of the year. They respond to tropical conditions of wet/dry season cycles. Water your lime tree sparingly for a few weeks, then fertilize and keep it watered properly as you showed and it will probably bloom, unless the temperature is too cold. That is almost the same as getting a bougainvillea to bloom outside the tropics. 2. Temperate mainstream citrus best bloom in late winter or early spring and if they bloom out of season, the fruit usually does not grow properly. 3. Kumquats and their hybrids may bloom later following a warm winter or may repeat blooming. I live on the Middle Texas coast and my mainstream citrus may fail to bloom in the spring if I don't pick all the fruit from the tree before about the end of January. If the tree is in a container and is somewhat root bound, and you repot it into a very large pot or barrel, it may go into a vegetative growth phase and skip blooming for quite some time. Go up in container size only one or two size at a time if you need fruit and not plant size.

I have one mature kaffir lime plant in a pot and last year I got lots of lime but now I just check it’s lost the scent and this year didn’t get any flowers yet. I have one Indian sweet lime and one Indian lime plant. I got lots of flowers but all fell off. Here weather is very cold now, 1 to 2 degrees temperatures in night and day time 4/5 degrees. Shall I switch off the room heater. Please can you guide me how I can look after my citrus plants.
@marcelinanoss88258 ай бұрын
one thing about citrus is it likes a consistent temperature, If you have a fluctuating temperature, it will behave oddly such as dropping leaves, dropping fruitlets and blossoms. Don't shut the heater off or the cold could kill your citrus. Also its hard to give citrus the necessary light requirements in the winter without artificial lighting. Just try to keep your citrus tree happy in the winter months and you will see your blossoms bear fruit in the following spring/summer.

when ever you buy a citrus plant, you have removed it from its comfort area, It goes into some kind of shock and needs time to adjust. It may even drop all of its leaves from the move. Find a good spot for it and leave it there. Moving it around all the time is the worst thing to do. Dont fertilize it off the bat, give it time to adjust with simple watering's. Dont ever water either as you will kill it. Remember, citrus like water, but not wet feet. Make sure it has good drainage. After 4 to 6 weeks, you can give it some Citrus-Tone fertilizer ( the best). Make sure your coil is around 65. pH too. And with time it will begin to bud new blossoms!! Good luck my friend :))

@marcelinanoss88252 ай бұрын
growing leaves is a good thing as it is the source of providing your plant with sugar for your plants growth. The majority of questions that people usually ask me is why are my leaves falling off my tree. It appears that your plant is getting a lot of nitrogen from some source, Are you fertilizing it? Composting it? Let me know what youve been doing to feed it ok ? we will take it from there,

you need full sunlight, fertilize with a proper fertilizer for your plant, pruning stimulates new growth and blossoming too. Use a fertilizer with the NPK to be higher on the Phophorus side rather than the nitrogen.

Mam & gregg, i bought lemon tree, 2 foot tall, today i tested the soil in the pot after watering it and tested the soil for ph and it was 7 in the ph meter. i followed exactly with Gregg's demo, i poured half teaspoon of white vinegar into half liter of water and it showed 5.5 ph, and i poured into the potting soil and tested but it still showed 7 ph; so mixed another full teaspoon of vinegar into half liter water and poured into the pot and tested, the meter showed just below the 7 mark...it was nowhere near 5.5 to 6.5 ph for lemon tree; so i poured another teaspoon of vinegar with little water and poured again into the soil, and it showed 6.75 ph in the meter. i left the meter 6" deeper in the pot for about half an hour and showed 6.6ph !!!! unless i add another teaspoon of vinegar and water it won't come to 6.5 and below. i added 3 tsp already... have done right, do i have to mix another teaspoon to bring it to 6. 5 ph ? please advice me .
@marcelinanoss88253 жыл бұрын
you dont need to adjust it immediately, do this once or twice a week. Remember it is in a solution which will wash out rather quickly when you water your plants, Your tree will reward you for your efforts. Make sure your soil is well saturated before testing pH and which test meter are you using?

My meyer lemon (in a large pot in greenhouse in Pine AZ) is putting put lots of new growth. It went thru a major flowering, attacked bu aphids, which I got rid of with Neem. Now some fruit appeared and were dark green, then turned bright yellow and now black and falling off. They were no bigger than a dime. Hoping you may have some answers
@marcelinanoss88253 жыл бұрын
first,, your pot,, i would check your root system for root bound. next check your soil's pH and make sure its in the 6 to 6.5 range. Major cause of fruit drop off. Make sure you are watering it sufficiently as fruit will require more water, but not soaking the roots in standing water. Stick your finger 3 inches into the soil. If you have moisture, your good! If not, water it well. Grab a moisture meter if you arent sure. Hope this helps
@marcelinanoss88253 жыл бұрын
one last thing.. all your blossoms that produce tiny fruit will not mature to large fruit. Meyers are self pollinating, but you can try to pollinate them with a Q-tip cant hurt right?
@PineGeri3 жыл бұрын
@@marcelinanoss8825 will try this…3” …I have a water meter…at the root is showing midrange moisture and the outer pot is showing WET. Before planting last summer i loosened the roots…but haven’t checked the acid/alkalinity levels lately. Will so that. The new green leaves and branches are beautiful…and I have read these are self pollinating, however, I was using a qtip to pollinate anyway because every little bit helps. 👍👍

@marcelinanoss88253 жыл бұрын
check your pH first of all,,, then take a look at how much water you are giving it, overwatering will cause fruit drop off. Citrus will do better underwatering it rather than overwatering it. Last, make sure you are giving it MgSO4 9 magnesium sulfate

I'm not sure if someone could help answer this. I grow several citrus plants with the same soil medium and veggie plants too. I start from the seeds. But, I notice some how plants do not grow into the same stage eventhough they are started at the same time and even with the same pack of soils. I just find it very strange and I hope someone could help to answer that as I'm unsure whether to wait for the plants to grow further more or it's meant to be a stunted growth plant and even no fertiliser could treat it that way.
@marcelinanoss8825 Жыл бұрын
you must remember that seeds are like humans, they all have their own genetics. Some seeds are better than others and will grow at different rates. Lets say you have two citrus trees that you take seeds from both of them and plant them at the same time. Same amount of heat in the soil, and same media and water ok? Some seeds will germinate faster than others and the seeds from one tree will be stronger than the other. Genetics. You dont ever need to fertilize seedlings as they have their own food stored in the seed. Once the seeds Cotyledon as been absorbed, ( the two thick leaf that open first when the seed sprouts) then you can offer it some weak fertilizer. Not too much or you will burn it. Hope this helps you understand the seed issue. I often times get seeds from a very reliable source and i sometimes get 6 seeds out of 20 that germinate,, simply put.. bad seeds. Always plant more than you need so you can pick the healthy ones and discard the weak ones.

its going through transplant shock. Your plant will most likely loose all of its leaves and they will all come back in great shape. Just dont over-water it, that will cause another problem. NeXT time us mycorrhizae. It will assist in preventing transplant shock.
