A captain of my ship died onboard, from Covid. They stored the body in the meat freezer. The company paid for the repatriation. If I reckon correctly its stated in the MLC Maritime Labour Convention that the shipowner has to pay during such event. Also, we usually sign a life insurance contract when when entering the company. On cargo ships we dont have morgues obviously. We are, usually, between 15 and 30 people on board so we dont need such contraptions. Edit : I should have watch the entire video. The Ibera was sold a few month after to CMA CGM becoming the Barracuda. Worked on that ship. My filipinos friends told me that they could hear the captain's ghost on Deck F. Well I slept on deck F and I didnt hear any ghost 😕

I'm more curious why so many crew members die sometimes. Royal Caribbean had 13 staff die once.

The reason for burial at sea. It's old tradition, mostly so back in the day, the rest of the crew didn't catch an infection for haveing decaying body onboard. And the tradition have been upheld

It would benefit you to get along with fellow shipmates or you could "disappear" especially during rough weather.

It's not for everyone. It's for ppl like myself who have never watched a video from him that I've never enjoyed. I might get carried away n forget to like it, so it's better to just do it when I'm reminded. I definitely understand the question though, because I only do it for my 2 favorite youtubers. They give me consistent quality videos.

"What If You Die on a Cruise Ship or a Navy Ship"
@jpburnez5655Ай бұрын
On a Navy Ship, they will preserve the body and give it to the family. Let's say you are in a battleship, and they are on a mission; they can't just turn around because of that. So, a helicopter can take the body to the nearest military base to continue its voyage to finally be with the family. That is done with the utmost respect to the soldier or crew member and the family.

@@thegamingsquad928 Thumbs down. Who could possibly hate crabs? They are extremely interesting and very beneficial for keeping organic wastes out of the oceans. Plus, they taste soooo very good. There is a reason crabs are here and have been here since before the dinosaurs, and yet they have not changed really at all. Crab is the final form of evolution.

Lol we don't bury some Navy Vets on ground, is what u learned in this video. I think that is beautiful to life at sea. If I pass as sea please throw me to the sea. My grandfather is Navy. We cream mated him. But he passed long after he did his time on land. This is a very interesting video I never thought of how we deal with out sea deaths

I'd like to be buried with a one of NZs native trees planted on top of me ,so I was fertilizer for it .....but yeah not allowed to do anything like that. Got to get cremated and sprinkled In hole before planting the tree by looks of it. I'm already growing the tree it's going to be massive bonzi tree by then
@jasonwebb188225 күн бұрын
If I had my choice on where and how I get buried, I'd say this. Go out the the Weeping Williow tree behind my house. Dig a hole about 6ft deep and throw body in hole. Cover me up with that dirt. After that is done, go inside the house and party like it's 1969. I will no longer be in pain and I won't be suffering anymore. The reason I want to be buried under this particular tree? Cause as a kid, I used to climb it all the time. When I was in that tree, I felt at peace and that I was on top of the world. Now me being scared of heights meant I wasn't very high, only about 15 to 25 feet off the ground. There's no reason a burial company should make so much money off the desist. Isn't it bad enough that someone lost their loved one? Now you want $5,000 to $20,000 to put a person into the ground? No cool in my book, but I can understand why they do it. Take care and peace out. ✌️
