~05:22 You say something about snake's fast metabolism. Wait what??? I thought snakes had pretty slow metabolic 'rates'. They certainly don't need to eat like birds or squirrels or meerkats or tigers. A good meal for a snake can take a couple days to work through the system. Am I missing something?

I’m not sure why he said that because compared to warm blooded animals the metabolism is quite slow.

Lots of images of non-Chinese snakes, such as boas and bushmasters from Central-to-South America, corn and rat snakes from the US, and ball pythons from west Africa. I didn't see any one-eyed trouser snakes, which is just as well.

There's definitely something to be said about traditional medicine. For many hundreds of years, practitioners, who may have had no formal medical training at all, were nonetheless slowly learning, by hook or by crook, how certain plants, extracts, animals, more extracts, minerals, even more extracts AND compounds were able to alleviate suffering. Working without strict controls, or complex analyses, these people, alone and in ad hoc groups, slowly built up an extremely impressive body of knowledge of GREAT value to the wider world. So let's give credit where credit is due. Some pricey drugs today are nothing more than ultra-pure examples of what traditional practitioners had been aware of for many _many_ decades. So we may not chew on the bark of white willow trees, or apply poultices of lark's tongue and aspic, but we have these people to thank for the original discovery of things like aspirin and King Crimson.

People concerned with poison vs venom usage are not the smartest folk. Y’all like grammar Nazi’s. Making a fuss about details cause you can’t formulate the larger picture 🤷🏾♂️
@bigscoop9110 ай бұрын
@M-dv1yj The larger picture being competent enough to label something important enough as the difference between the two. That being said, Antidote are for poison and antivenom is for venom. Should that be mislabeled too? 🙃

@ABW941 You would have a good point...IF IT WASNT WRITTEN IN ENGLISH! 🙃
@M-dv1yj10 ай бұрын
@@bigscoop91 labeling should be specific. But some things are only of significance within hyper focused , isolated or abstracted environments. I mean if you look at the rational for why type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes were labeled differently it’s based only on whether it was insulin dependent. (That takes so much actual differentiation between the conditions and washes it away, which has broad affects on research, treatment and patient comprehension of what is going on. It was done to simplify inner office jargon 🤷🏽♂️😂😮💨. Same as saying venomous vs poisonous in any and all contexts outside the few in lab. I will start charging for the lesson my boy.

Speaking about snake area entrance and exit designs, you specifically mentioned doors, one opening in, the other opening out, BUT you didn't say WHY one should do this. The snakes don't care, and the door frames don't care, so it must be the humans that care. Why? It's not like an airlock, or a sally port in a jail, so why the 'open in/open out' rule?
