First off she's Australian Asian which is a whole different level of self hate. When I was in Australia, I don't think I saw one AMAF couple. It was all AFWM couple. Funny story, I was standing at a bar waiting to order a drink and there was this Asian gal next to me. The minute she looked over and saw an Asian dude, she made it a point to walk across the other side of the bar to her white boyfriend. It was almost like she didn't want to be seen with another Asian standing next to her. I'm not gonna say all Australians are racist, but as an Asian man visiting Sydney, I definitely got the vibe from the locals that I was not welcomed. It's bs because when white people visit Asia, the locals treat them like royalty, yet as a fairly successful and educated Asian man, I don't feel like I get that same treatment when I go to Europe.

As an east asian guy who dates outside our race I don't have a problem with asian women dating white men. What I do have a problem is that I noticed lots of asian women are lowering their standards by extreme levels for a white man. I've seen too many asian woman that typically requires an asian man to have a high income (150k+), stay in shape, good job title, tall but will lower those requirements for a way below average white man. For example an asian woman who's average would marry a white man who's fat, plays video games, not good looking, works a 50k job. This same guy would be considered bottom 5% of white population society. A lot of the time in this scenario the asian woman would be the leader of the household since she makes more. That same white husband could never get a white girl, never put in effort to improve himself would somehow get an average asian woman and I think that's what makes a lot of asian men angry. I've seen so many 40 year old asian woman marry a 60 year old divorced white guy who already has kids. The worst part is that for the asian woman, its her first time getting married and having children. A good example would be elaine chow who married mitch mcconnell. I sure haven't seen too many young asian women with high status white men like investment bankers or doctors. They could very well be a happy couple but if I was a woman I would rather be a man's first choice than a backup option.

The reason why so many Asian women in America and the West in general would prefer to be with a white guy is because of subconscious internalized racism and the natural female biologic desire to acquire a man with high social status. They grew up in a Western society which has for centuries portrayed white men as the peak of masculinity and social hierarchy and desexualized Asian men. This culture is ingrained into them whether they realize it or not. Western culture is also the dominant culture worldwide due to effects of colonialism and economic power. This explains why white men are often desired by Asian women from Asian countries, besides the fact that a white man signifies comparative wealth. However, the degree in which foreign Asian women prefer white men does not rise to the degree in which Western Asian women do (which I would argue is about half). Edit: I'll add to the second point that this Australian girl made (that Asian girls do go for Asian guys but they don't go for stereotypical nerds). Yes, obviously there are Western Asian women that desire and prefer Asian guys, but a surprisingly plurality do not. Studies from dating apps over the years have shown that about half of Asian women prefer white guys over Asian guys. Secondly, it is again obvious to point out that Asian women don't go for Asian nerds in general. Stereotypical "chads" are preferred over nerds regardless of race. This point doesn't contribute to the discussion of racial dynamics in dating.

I agree with her comments in the first part of the video. Most women in the west, especially who grew up in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, saw most of the Disney princes and "the good guys" in rom-coms as the ideal boyfriends and husbands. These roles were usually filled by white guys. Also, many of us went to schools with mainly white people and white guys were the guys you were exposed to the most. They always seemed to get away with doing bad things and being able to talk their way out of it. That is perceived as a form of power. The extra layer is socioeconomic status. White families usually appeared to have the luxury of floating through life effortlessly. Not dealing with racism, the assumption they had money and their ability to blend in with other people in predominantly white middle class communities. They could be horrible people but everyone always gave them the benefit of the doubt (the seed of white privilege). I think some minorities have secretly hoped they could experience this "effortless" way of living vicariously through relationships with white people, especially white men. Fortunately, this dynamic has definitely changed in recent years but tough habits do take a while to change over generations. Western schools now are more diverse and so is media so you get more exposure to different types of guys being the hero or the prince. In terms of women in other countries being attracted to white men, sometimes it's a form of face blindness. I have a white male friend who has blonde hair and blue eyes. When he has been to Korea and Japan, people tell him he looks like Chris Hemsworth or Justin Bieber 😂😂 those two guys look nothing alike and he doesn't look like either of them. To many people in those countries, all white guys look similar to eachother. This one girl was stalking him thinking she would get the privileges of dating Chris Hemsworth if she was with him 😂😂 my friend is just an average American white guy with not much money. Sometimes it's the perception some people have when they're attracted to someone, not the reality of that person.

It's true that there are women in Asia who say those things to White men. It's because there aren't many White men there. Asians in the Western countries wouldn't think that he looks like Chris Hemsworth. We hear some White people say that all Asians look the same. Believe it or not, some Asians in Asia say something similar about White people. (They don't say that all look the same. They say it in a way that you mentioned above). But in countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, etc, Asian women stopped having these Hollywood fantasies about White guys during the 70s (in the case of Japan) or the 80s. I mean that there are very few Asian women in these countries who only prefer White men. I'm not aware of any. They're very restricted to the proximity of their base because they can't stay out of their base all night (unless they get a vacation for few days (or if there's a war going on. The Korean War is technically not over, but the ceasefire agreement makes it unnecessary to have a great majority of the US soldiers to be deployed outside their base)). Most of the Asians don't get to meet the US soldiers.

@@bxi1547 This podcast talked about how a lot of the Asian-American women have low opinions on Asian men. I think it's the same with the Asian-Australians if I remember this podcast correctly. You'll quickly notice the difference in Asia. Obviously, you'll mostly see Asian-Asian couples in Asia since the non-Asians are the minorities in Asia. And they're not influenced by Hollywood's depictions of Asian men because there are plenty of Asian men who break the stereotype. Of course, it's wrong to judge the Asian-American men the same as Hollywood has depicted the Asians in the past. The reason why the Asian-American men get easily judged in a Hollywood way by a lot of the American women is because Asians are the minorities there. They mostly see non-Asians. Believe it or not, there are many regions in the United States where the people rarely see an Asian. From what I've seen, a lot of the Asian-American women who have low opinions on Asians and Asian culture are the ones who don't get along with their parents. I was responding to the guy above who said that it's hard to get dates with Asian women. If you visit Asia, you'll realize that it's actually the opposite. There are many times more Asians in Asia than in America. You'll see plenty of Asian-Asian couples in Asia.

I get people will fall for who they fall for, but they should really consider, if they start to get actually serious, what their kids will go through. I have a older mestizo cousin, who tho reps being a Pare and our Lahi as well as our Pamilya to the fullest, has never been accepted. I remember my Tita telling him when we were kids that whites will never accept him, they never did, but what she didn't tell him is that most of our people wont either... He started to mess around in the streets at only 11 years old to prove himself and had to go twice as hard just so he wouldn't be seen as a white boy or "coconut". My Tita was so scared for him so she moved them all the way to the East Coast to get him away from that life. But they moved to a town that is only white and black. The Asian racism he endured everyday from whites and blacks is something no one from where we are from could even imagine. So tho his life was saved and he found football, he still endured Asian hatred even as a mestizo Pare who looks Mexican that still affects him to this day. He doesn't even believe in friendship anymore, you can hear the pain in his voice so much so that he convinced even I that friendship doesn't exist and all you need is Pamilya. I say this to just say people who do decide to get into a serious relationship outside not just their race, but their culture, this is something that should be talked about with your significant other. This is not trying to deter anyone, but to inform the importance of this conversation. I hope whoever reads this stays happy, righteous, as well as blessed!

However, they should keep in mind that they will always face some level of racism if their partner is from another race. Interracial couples are always seen as controversial because most people in this world are still tribalistic. people will perceive you in a certain manner and make assumptions about your relationship.

You already know no one wants to potentially be called out on their biases rooted in false beliefs in the superiority of white men (conscious and unconscious). But it's a conversation that needs to be had in the Asian community, even if it's hella uncomfortable. White male privilege exists in business, politics, entertainment, criminal justice, housing; dating and romance aren't exceptions. Here are three benefits in framing the conversation as "self-hating/white-worshiping Asians vs. Asians who aren't" instead of "AM vs. AW": 1. Instead of framing the conversation as Asian men versus Asian women, we should focus on self-hating/white-worshiping Asians versus Asians who aren't. This approach avoids simplifying the discussion and acknowledges the complexity of the issue. 2. By explicitly addressing the conflict in this way, we reduce the chances of misinterpreting the message and prevent misdirection from those who try to avoid confronting their biases rooted in the belief in white men's superiority. 3. Shifting the conversation to self-hating Asians versus those who aren't allows more people to join in and understand our frustrations without attacking Asian women. This prevents us from being portrayed as illogical or hateful, and helps others empathize with marginalized groups who understand the concepts of self-hate, white-worship, and mental colonization. TL;DR: There is no BEEF between Asian men and Asian women. The BEEF here is between self-hating, white-worshiping Asians vs. Asians who aren't. Reply

I agree to a certain extent. But let’s play devil’s advocate here for a moment. Your way may still be the best approach but it should be done with caution and be grounded in reality. Otherwise, it risks becoming a double-edge sword. 1. Because it is quite sad that as a group, Asians have to strategically do this. Meanwhile with little to no recourse or repercussions. No other groups have to employ this strategy. Instead of calling it out right as everyone should. Constantly having to step on egg shells out of fear of hurting AW feelings or risk offending them or petty retaliations. Especially, if it’s obvious that they’re the source of this ongoing problem (they’re not children, they know what they’re doing). Colonization and de-colonization does not give a shit about your feelings. It looks to replace you or subjugate you. You don’t get to be soft on colonization, that’s a privilege that many didn’t or don’t have. You tell it like it is. Be direct and get to the point. 2. To frame it as “self-hating, white-worshipping, colonized” Asians vs non self-hating non-colonized Asians removes all accountability from the main enablers of this. Let’s be honest, the internalized racism, self-hate, and white-fever comes disproportionately from AW. To lump in AM with this problem is a bit unfair and disingenuous. Not saying some AM don’t have these toxic behaviours or don’t do this too. They do and should rightfully be called out in much the same way. But that number is much less prevalent than their AF counterparts. 3. Framing it the way you describe, just conveys that it’s okay for AW to continue this behavioural pattern because they are protected by the cloak and diffusion of accountability. So there is an excuse always lined up. It can be taken advantage of and is too convenient. So they ignore it and don’t take it as a serious issues or look to change anything because there is no incentive to because the idea is “AM do it too!” Just food for thought, but maybe I’m wrong, maybe you’re wrong. Hard to say one way or the other at this moment. Only time will tell.

I agree with the avoiding just attacking AW but not completely with the rest here. To label asian women who date a white guy as self-hating/white-worshiping while legit in many cases crosses into racist and misogynistic in itself and goes on a tangent from exploring the overall problem in a more well-rounded way. In modern, diverse, racially mixed up places, there will naturally be more interracial couples going on. The majority of asian women date asian men but it's normal and natural for people of all backgrounds to link up with people of different races. It's even progressive- our genes are probably seeking to survive and thrive and produce stronger humans. We see many white women with brown/black men too. One question that needs to be asked more is why more brown/black women and white women are not linking up with asian men more and asian women with black/brown men. History and media and stereotypes do play a big part but we can all move forward. In more progressive places I do see more of these couples coming together.

I'm American born Asian and have been married to a beautiful white women for five years. I've dated many different women including Asians, Black's, White's, and Hispanics. I didn't get tattoos till I went to prison and all those women were before I was incarcerated and through childhood. Im 5' 7 1/2" and weight 165. Before incarceration my weight was 135 no muscles only six pack. My advice would to be yourself and work on confidence. You have to just know how to make a women smile. Don't have to act like your a Casanova, gangster, or anything else but yourself. Be kind and respectful. Don't use corny lines. Just say hello and introduce yourself. When you feel they are interested complement them on something about themselves or lightly clown them about a chiped nail or ask them about a noticable scar. Just be observant to let them know your interested without digging deep into their personal life. That comes later when they are comfortable enough around you to share. Number one don't is to not be creepy. Slightly awkward is fine because I've always been socially awkward. I made it work for me. My wife told me her and her friends love Asian men but always felt that the Asian men don't like them. She has white, Hispanic and black friends. Good luck on your journey fellas.

This is so interesting to me as an Asian woman born and raised in Europe. I never understood how other Asian women (and let’s be real here: it’s often Asian women FROM Asia who moved to the west for university, work or whatever) prefer white men over Asian. Okay I'm hapa (mom is white an dad is Asian) so take my comment with a grain of salt, but I have always been attracted to Asian or hapa men who are kind of nerdy and game. I play League of Legends, am in graduate school and have grown up around a lot of Asians. I've always been a little bit more attracted to white guys or hapa guys and I think some of it is because my dad is a white guy and was a very good male role model in my life so there is some kind of mental association there. I have dated a few different ethnicities and races in the past though so I've never refused to date based on race. When I first saw my husband, I assumed he was hapa like me. We both have a similar look and I was very attracted to him. I eventually figured out that he was Italian (with a bit of French ancestry) but somehow has some Asian features 😂 I don't think I'd find him as attractive if he didn't have the Asian qualities to his features though.

I think there is a huge difference when mom is white and dad is asian. Remember we still live in a society where the woman chooses to marry a guy and not other way. I’m an Asian female that grew up in Latin America, US, and New Zealand. I’ve always preferred ABCs (or NBCs, whatever u wanna call them. Basically Asians that are born or raised overseas since they were little) mainly because I feel like we can connect more culturally. We are westernized but at the same time, we can relate to each other more and have more in common (compared to white people) based on our cultural backgrounds. I personally don’t find ‘fobby’ Asians attractive but they tend to stay in their own circles and date non-ABCs anyways. I’ve only had 2 long-term relationships and the first one was with a ‘fobby’ Asian guy. We just had really different values and views and because he wasn’t fluent in English (had a strong accent), he always made me read out our order to the waiter whenever we dined out. I’m now with someone who moved overseas when he was really young (3) and we both come from a Cantonese background. I personally don’t get the obsession with Asian females wanting to explicitly date white guys other than a ‘status’ thing (coming from internal insecurities). I also think white guys generally have different beauty standards and the girls that Asians view as ‘not attractive’, white guys see them as attractive. The AFWM couples I’ve seen where I am, the girls are very or below average. I also agree with some comments saying some Asian girls lower their standards when it comes to a white guy. They have all these criteria set for an Asian guy but when it comes to a white guy, they are completely out the window. I think that is just fucken sad The only ones I can understand why the Asian women may feel like they ‘have’ to go for a western guy is the divorcees with kids. Let’s be honest, a lot of Asian guys (not all, but generally speaking) are not very accepting of a divorced female with kids. Even if they like the woman, can they truly accept her children (from another man) like his own? However, the western men are a bit more ‘open-minded’ and accepting of this Before anyone gets offended by anything I’ve said above, these are just MY personal views and what I’ve experienced. No need to get butthurt because you are that 10% ‘exception’ to the majority

I dunno, I feel like you guys kinda just pigeonhole every Asian guy into either a nerd or a thug. I think there's a lot more variation than you think and maybe this is kind of just what is often focused on in the West. Growing up as a Vietnamese American in Cali I used to think this way to some extent too. After moving to Asia I just feel like a lot of what I perceived as values that you and I thought were true just aren't really a thing in Asia. Now everyone is different to what they're open to in looking for a partner, but maybe in America we've just been conditioned into thinking that these ideals are what we need to live with. Here in Japan I just feel like there's a lot more curiosity and openness than I was used to back home, but maybe that's also because I'm also foreign here.

Asian American women raised in US society have seen their entire lives from birth how Asian men are perceived and treated in American society as whole. They are at the bottom of the social hierarchy ie. nobody wants them as romantic partners nor in leadership positions. (The only exception would be South Asians, the next migrant wave from Asia.) Asian women that are brought up in Asia, Asian men are the majority there. Every leader in every organization is Asian. their first crush in school is an Asian boy. They don't hear their girlfriends making fun of Asian men per se. Asian men are the studs and leading men in their shows and movies. So they have no psychological hang ups about Asian males.

I agree with the comments that said it’s colorism or skin color. It seems Asians are taught that white or pale skin is better…even better than their own natural skin color. Korean seem to want to be whiter than white people…just ghostly pale. Ok historically dark skin meant you labored outside, but it’s 2023. People should know by now that dark or tanned skins does not indicate someone’s economic or social status. I agree Asians don’t like to date people (men & women) with dark skin. The whiter the better. And I think Asians do want to look white (i.e. eyelid surgery, high bridge nose jobs, skin bleaching, etc).

I'm an American (Japanese-Chinese mix) living in Japan. I attracted more women when I was assigned to Germany than living where I grew up in Tri-State area. I live and work in the Northern Japanese countryside. The white guys get the attention. We travel to Tokyo, I'm getting more attention. I go to the gym, train in a few martial arts, play table top RPG, anime/manga fan , listen to heavy metal & a regular to Goth-industrial events. Come to the Netherlands, we tend to not have many issues with any of this. My tall blond Dutch cousin she's been with her Korean guy for years now (shout out to Saskia & Koa) and they have a kid, plus at least two of my caucasian female coworkers date Asian guys all the time. A fair share of my own experiences was with Asian girls from different countries, both full and and mixed and my current fling is half Dutch, half Korean. In fact, her and I we went to an Asian party last night hosted by one of the aforementioned Dutch girls. There still were plenty of Asian-only couples and hook ups going on there, yet I didn't feel outcast or frowned upon being there as a white-latino male and neither were the guests of African or Arab descent. We were greeted with warm smiles and people just mingled freely and had a blast together on the dancefloor. Amsterdam all the way fellas! EDIT : for anyone interested, the Asian party we were invited to was from ABC Asianborrelclub Nederland, the local Asian social hub ('borrel' roughly translates to 'a social drink' in Dutch).

There can definitely be a cultural aspect to dating. There are very traditional East Asian attitudes that impose rules on what women should do and be, and that can be a huge turn off. My cousin grew up in Taiwan, and her experience with guys throughout high school caused her to decide to never date ANY Taiwanese! I can't say what experiences caused that mentality but it seems pretty serious.

Interesting point in the end when you mentioned the different personalities in East Asia. In American media, Asians get portrated to fit stereotypes without getting much opportunity to express diversity in personalities and appearances. Whereas in Asian media, there is representation of different types of Asian people. For example, in China you have the scholarly "goody two shoes" Confucius who say its best to study and work hard and respect your elders, but you also have ambitious "bad boys" like Cao Cao who is not afraid to step on others to gain power, or "hippies" like Zhuangzi who question the rules of society and propose a "go with the flow" way of life as an alternative to the teachings of Confucius. The problem is that when a different culture tries to portray your culture, the depiction will usually be incomplete at best and unflattering at worst.
