I'd say Ayanokoji has better control of his emotion and is able to read and account for other people better as shown by how Light got his cheeks spread open by knock off L because of one small mistake in blindly trusting the other dude. I feel like one instance that showed that while smart Light makes a very stupid mistake is coming into contact with and then killing Raye Pember because if he told L (LIKE HE SHOULD HAVE) that he came into contact with Light (suspect number 1) when he was not supposed to at all, gave him his government ID, was involved in a bus jacking and the bus jacker started tweaking after touching something Light dropped (for all they know it could be a hallucinogenic if he’s being suspected of being someone on the danger level of the ZK and Jack the Ripper) and then died, it would point IMMEDIATELY to Light and he’s cooked. Then he got dropped alongside every other FBI agent, then Light came into contact with Raye’s fiancé in the reception area of the police station (cameras and receptionist can confirm that) and then she disappeared after leaving with him, it’s very easily suspected that these two things connect him to both of their deaths and he can go to jail off that alone or just be blasted like they did in the end anyways, but everyone has to be a little dumbed down for entertainment sake.

@@trakixar Trains, Buses and Police Stations all have cameras. That’s the biggest thing that could destroy Light’s entire plan. Raye was the ONLY agent who was being held hostage by Kira and L deduced that. There’s also the fact that if Raye told L that he was the ONLY agent that came into direct contact with a suspect then got held hostage by Kira ON CAMERA that should have been awfully suspicious on Light. He also quite literally yelled out his name which should have been caught by any camera on and off the train if they have sound capture too. Naomi and Light were SEEN by a receptionist that Naomi herself came into contact with to contact L and seen on camera (which Light tells us was in the station) and any person who was seen within the last moments of a person before disappearing is brought in for questioning. L also says “she is too strong willed for that” and we’ve seen his influence and profiling abilities, so it would hold up in court. Naomi was also the only person able to deduce that Kira was on the bus and looked at Raye’s ID, and even Light acknowledges he’s cooked if anyone else gets this information that is easily accessible to the L/police if the agents reported their movement like they should have, since it wasn’t hard for Naomi to do it plus buses have CAMERAS IN THEM. With Light being evidently in contact with two people that he should not be anywhere near (Raye and Naomi) right before their death/disappearance, fitting the profile perfectly and already being a 95% suspect in L’s eyes, even without a murder weapon, he can go to jail for their death/disappearances alone. If they arrest him while he’s unaware he can’t write deaths ahead of time or his “I’m not Kira he’s Kira” plan. Even if Misa comes into play later, she got caught easily with evidence, which doesn’t fit Kira’s profile at all since he’s evidently not that stupid. So they’re both cooked, Kira 1 and 2 get captured, 1 dies by Ryuk and the DN goes to find a new owner.

In my own opinion, the only reason Ayanokoji would technically win is because he has a longer series therefore will obviously have more feats. Light is less controlling of himself though, as is the plot demands. He convinced himself that he could never make a mistake, that he did the right thing by killing two criminals. Light is smarter than Ayanokoji but not as wise. Light's ego holds him back so he is immature and not wise at all. Contrast to light, Ayanokoji is controlling himself easily and keeping calm at many moments. If Ayanokoji was Kira, (assuming that he for some reason just had to kill criminals) he wouldn't have an ego and try to kill L. He would just kill while ignoring everyone else. My end-opinion. Light is smarter but not as wise as Ayanokoji. In a battle of wits, Light wins. The only way I see Ayanokoji winning is exploiting Light's ego. Some points like Light losing in the end is not directly his fault. (Mikami failed him) Honestly, since Ayanokoji is so obsessed with survival, he would just not do anything to Light even if he knew that Light was kira. This is because Ayanokoji has no ego so he wouldn't bother if he figured out someone had such a god-like ability. He would realize that survival chances are higher if he just does nothing.

There totally is because for some reason everyone ignores the fact that the Death Note's pages were being sent to Takada before she died. Mikami had only one week's worth of names written in the notebook left over, and Near had two of his agents copy them down for 12 hours straight. The anime kinda screwed up the whole thing by leaving these details out.

@@soundxzz it's totally possible. It's 14 pages across 12 hours. In the manga, Near very specifically says that both Rester and Gevanni were working on the notebook, and Gevanni is an expert forger. Mikami isn't exactly an expert analyst. It's maybe 14 pages, split between two professionals, over 12 straight hours, fooling a man who isn't exactly the smartest (Mikami doesn't even bother testing the notebook after consciously risking leading the SPK straight to it). It's totally possible and I'm damn sad that the anime made a mess of an otherwise brilliant ending.

The contention isn’t with the outcome, but the events leading up to it. Without the initial confrontation between L and Kira, L never learns he’s in Kanto. Furthermore, he never learns that Kira is a student or has ties to the police. You just gave that info to Koji for free. And then he has somehow able to profile all students in Kanto within a day or two without having ever met them. You have no reason for Koji to expect Kira to be a genius. L, having confronted Kira and had some sort of battle with him, was able to come to that conclusion. “Nerfed Light” is way out of character with how Light is. The mistakes Light made early on were with him being confronted and letting his ego get in the way in the heat of the moment. Light would never make a victim email his actual email address before killing him. If he wanted to pass on the information, he would have used the post like he did to find the mafia HQ. So maybe Koji could catch Light and maybe it would be much faster than Near and Mello could have done it, but the way you wrote it would just never happen.

There's a brief moment in cote s3s op that symbolises ayanokojis thought proses really well. We see sakayanagi and him on a chess board. She's on top of the queen, and he's next to the king. Like the queen, Sakaynagi takes any path and goes as far as she wants/needs to reach her goal. Can you give me light's feats?? Koji takes Direct>=, Indirect, Emotional, Individual. Light takes mass. I'm willing to debate. Light had all source of advantage so he had an edge on Individual, Emotional and direct manipulation but still koji takes it. Light was given all types of advantage there. But by even excluding it, Koji takes manipulation. About deception, i still think deceiving very low tier characters are not a feat to consider to compare with this beast. It is things even i can do. Perfect memory, tons of knowledge on multiple fields, master level chess player, skilled manipulator (Light is more of a good liar), amazing analytical skills (can connect seemingly unrelated things) plus Koji has lots of experience despite not being that old. Not to mention, Light has an ego, he ultimately lost due to enjoying the thrill of the game too much. It really wasn't close as Ayanokoji displays an act of logical thinking at the age of 2-3 years old (I don't know the exact age) and when he turned 6-7 years old he already had displayed the mind of that of a college graduate when he turned 9 he solo a room of professional fighters he keeps on adapting to his environment and absorb his talents more and more he could solved the hardest mathematical problems in under a seconds and by the time Ayanokoji reached his teens years he already exceeded the whiteroom facilities which in terms of academical and physical standards imagine Sherlock Holmes detective skills but 10-100× more faster and efficient like how he deducted all the whiteroom students within the year 1 and expell Yagami without appearing infront of him even once and with a love letter at that

Tbh, light will always have the upper hand because he has a supernatural weapon. It's never a "level playing field" when battling with Light because the odds are stacked significantly against his enemies. This is why I was much more impressed with how L was able to corner Light, despite Light's significant advantage. Do note that in the end, Light needed a supernatural being to eventually defeat L. Additionally, Light might have already gotten caught had Ryuk, another supernatural being, did not have invisibility, which allowed Light to escape surveillance when his room was bugged and watched. Imo, if it's an actual level-playing field, L would have caught Light.
