Do you consider learning techniques such as layups and Jumpshots as fundamentals? If so, why would you not teach people new to the sport those techniques? Surely if the layup and Jumpshot techniques are considered as fundamentals then it would be beneficial for those at the beginning of their learning would benefit from having a basic understanding of how to perform those techniques? As they progress I understand not spending time on perfecting technique since every individual will have their preferences on how to perform them, and adding constraints to their training around these techniques will benefit them since like you say, game situations very rarely allow us a wide open shot, but if we avoid showing them techniques to begin with, surely it would only create problems further down the line? This isn't in any way trying to discredit the work, I'm a fan of the learning methodology. I just want to know for clarity if you consider learning techniques is the same as "fundamentals"?
