Nothing but respect from Kerr. He ignored the outside noise and completed the mission. I'm so proud of this team, and the hard work was there. I do believe there is a low-key jealousy from older generations of players and coaches because the goal was team USA. Nothing more. He picked the right people. The right matchups, at the right time. These guys will remember this forever! Kerr is right. Those other teams were difficult to play. USA could have lost. They were just better players. Coached very well. Steph and Kerr relationship is respected! People need to celebrate greatness. Go team 🇺🇸🇺🇸

I think Kerr gets the most credit not for who he played but for who he didn’t. This isn’t an all star game. You can’t give 12 superstars equal minutes. So finding the right lineups and matchups and sticking with them and resisting the urge to give Tatum more minutes or players who are talented but didn’t quite mesh in their roles. Ant was also someone who he could have played more but wisely kept his minutes limited, as he played too much hero ball and took defensive risks. I thought playing Booker over Jrue was a head scratcher but Book played extremely well. And I think they managed to get the most out of Embiid. I hope the haters give Kerr and his staff their flowers.
@stacyp3295
@stacyp3295 Ай бұрын
Tatum was never given a chance to mesh. Steph Curry first 3 games was useless but he did not sit him down. This was a clear effort to coach up Steph given he is Kerrs guy and Golden State may never win another NBA championship. He is 36. He is on the back end of his career...First and Only Olympics for Steph. And this is Tatum's second Olympic run. So I am sure he would have meshed given a chance.
@evanhiatt5606
@evanhiatt5606 Ай бұрын
@@stacyp3295Steph averaged over a steal per game and drew a lot of attention from defenses and played a very pivotal role in the ball movement all Olympics… KD Durant Booker and Steph all had bad shooting games but even through them they helped the offense flow very nicely and that’s why they earned their minutes. Tatum slowed the pace a little too much which is why he lost minutes and same with Ant

USA prevails but sooner or later with the kind of talent we are seeing, the world of basketball will be much more challenging to compete. we are entering the new era of basketball. This is fun! He been on the bulls team when Jordan played, he seen his dominance in in his prime and if he’s even saying that lebron kd and curry are the 3 all time greats tht says smth. Jordan was an amazing player at the time cuz at the time no one ever seen someone like him but eventually there’s always gonna be someone better who is gonna surpass him as a player in the future and the future is now. The game changed, players got better. If Jordan played in the exact same style he played in the 90s in the current nba he would get stomped on bc everyone knows how to counter it bc it’s now considered an old style. Back then yeah no one could guard him but most nba players who is playing now once looked up to him and knows his style so when they play against each other must learn to counter it which then invents new styles to play with thus forming the current nba which makes the game 10x more difficult than it once was back then. And lebron kd and curry being the top 3 of this current era makes them the all time greats bc they mastered the style, especially with them winning gold having now displayed this infront of the whole world

@@Foxytell 3:36: You need to pay better attention. He said, "3 of the greatest players," *not* The 3 greatest players. Jordan is the GOAT, because Jordan won every championship game he played in. 11 for 11. Conversely, players like James aren't even in the discussion, unless you're interested in participation trophies for perennial underachievers with 2 bronze metals, and 6 Finals losses. Also, James got carried by Kobe, and now Curry in the Olympics. James is simply not the best, because he doesn't take over championship games in the clutch moments... constantly turning the ball over down the stretch. Conversely, Jordan was in control 100% of the time, and never lost when it mattered most.

@@mvpfocusIght I might’ve misinterpreted the wording Steve Kerr said, but saying Jordan is the goat cuz he won every championship game during his time is not a good argument on the goat debate, a nba championship game goes 50/50 one side will lose while the other side will win, just because everytime he got into a nba finals championship game and he won doesn’t mean he’s the greatest of all time there are players who won more rings than Jordan such as bill russell, Sam jones, satch sanders etc. and that is because they were apart of the team that won the chip. Winning a championship is a team effort meaning not just Jordan, as a player he was amazing but if he didn’t have that team with scottie pippen, Dennis Rodman and etc. he wouldn’t have had those rings. You could say the same thing with 2018 lebron which is arguably lebrons peak in his prime, even at his highest he couldn’t win a chip because of his team. The argument on whether this player has this many more rings or that many don’t mean nothing bc it correlates to how good that team was not just how good that player was because at the end of the day basketball is a team sport. If Jordan was hopping on different and trash teams and single handedly winning them chips that will certify him as the greatest of all time, but for rn the greatest of all time is currently lebron, which will eventually change as time goes on because there is always a possibility of someone being better and surpassing u in the future

I'll take Gregg Popovich, Red Auerbach, Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Chuck Daly, and Lenny Wilkins over Kerr any day of the week. They can or could coach circles around Kerr.
@mvpfocus
@mvpfocus Ай бұрын
@@gobucsyanks6789 Which coach has the most wins in a season? Look, you can pick whichever coach you want from personal preference. But Kerr has now coached 5 championship teams, and that's just so far. And the way the Warriors became a dynasty was was by getting a homegrown group to buy into playing Kerr's brand of team basketball. You can debate styles, but you cannot debate the success Kerr has had. Your assertion of "coaching circles around" somebody is just empty talk, because we'll never see teams from different decades play each other.
@gobucsyanks6789
@gobucsyanks6789 Ай бұрын
@@mvpfocus You can debate success. When the Warriors won 73 games, I don 't believe they won the championship. Kerr won with a team that was already there. Auerbach, Riley, and Popovich all built championship teams from scratch. When Kerr can build a team from scratch like those three did, then I'll give him his due. I'll still take the coaches I listed over Kerr and I'll win more than you will with him.
@mvpfocus

@@gobucsyanks6789 No you won't, because your hypothetical is meaningless as it can never be tested. It's nothing more than bluster. You don't have to like Kerr, personally. But you're just blowing smoke claiming he's not an all-time-great coach. He coached a dynasty, that did not win a championship before he arrived. The idea that Kerr had a ready-made championship team is nonsensical. Kerr took a well coached defensive team and made them one of the best offensive teams in league history. It's a fact that their record improved behind Kerr, and I will remind you that Kerr has the most wins in a season at head coach. Which is not a fluke, because he's now won 5 championships as coach. (4 league)
@gobucsyanks6789
@gobucsyanks6789 Ай бұрын
@@mvpfocus Oh yes I will. Did Kerr build that team from scratch? No. May I also remind you that when he won those 73 games, they did not win the championship. There is quote that goes, to the effect, when you lose in the championship round, you are no better than the teams that didn't get there. When the Bulls won 72 games, they won the championship. When the Lakers won 69 games, they won the championship. When Kerr can do what Auerbach (Who built three championship era's, in the 1960's, 70's, and 80's that won at least two championships in each of those era's) Riley, and Popovich did, I'll be more than willing to give him his due.

"The world has gotten so good in basketball since then..." that is the legacy of the Dream Teams 92' show at the Barcelona Olympics. This fueled a massive hype globally I assume, but for Europe I'm Sure because I experienced it myself. I got into BB because of it and the aftermath with tons of BB stuff swapping over, broadcasting NBA, NBA shows, cards, magazines, gear, streetball events in literally every village...plus, despite being negative in its roots, because of the yugoslavian wars, many fine BB players from there came to Europe teaching New styles of play and practice. But if it wasn't for MJ, Magic, Charles, Drex and these folks, BB would not have come to that competitive level, the US has to face now (and forever I guess 😉)
