The great thing is that I actually have been friends with a DID-system for years now (although they weren't diagnosed until recently) and after they told me I went like "hey, I should watch videos about this to educate myself about it" and I watched a bunch of videos and each time I was just like: "wait, this sounds like me" "oh no, that's exactly what I experience" "why do i have all these symptoms she just listed?" "is there did without amnesia?" Actually, I started hanging post-its all around the house to figure out whether I might have amnesia and just don't remember forgetting stuff. I was super stressed for a few weeks, but after really educating myself I think that I might have some kind of OSDD1 and I realized I can actually kinda ... bring my alters to front (not every time, but I can try and sometimes I succeed!) and it's actually helped me immensely, because one of my alters has severe social anxiety, but I'm this person who talks to random strangers on the street and hugs them (I don't usually do that, but I totally would! I love people :D) and when we have an important meeting, we kinda try to make me front, so that we won't be super awkward and scared and actually be able to talk to the people. I feel like I'm really getting my life together now! :) For the last years I've just been really frustrated because trauma therapy was helping a little bit, but overall it wasn't really doing anything and some of the standard therapy stuff even made us feel like crap and now it kinda all makes sense. :) Haven't talked to a therapist about it yet, because we stopped therapy, since it just wasn't helping anymore past the point were we managed to get a little better (which in retrospect just happened because I'm the host now, the former host is a mess (sorry :D), but I texted my old therapist and we're having an appointment in two weeks! :) Sorry for that long text, I'm just kinda happy right now! :)

The closest we have is meeting a system friend before we knew of our own plurality. 12:12 This, so much. When we came out to a friend at work it seemed like all she wanted to do was change the subject, even though this was a huge deal for me and I just wanted to make her understand so that if we had some kind of crisis on the job, there was someone who could help. For a while I thought maybe I was obsessing, but... you're right! This affects everything. It affects how we view the world around us, it comes down to the core of our identity and those big questions about who we are and consciousness... we shouldn't have to feel so alone. - Holly

In my system we have the feeling of “yes and” meaning that if we meet someone who is speaking of something that might provoke confusion in other people we can accept what they are saying (yes) and then continue forward (and) with the conversation. There are eight of us in our system, and most singlets don’t identify the complexities so our having to explain has given us a desire to not make other people feel the need to explain to us.

Watching this video while being a singlet, makes me feel a little guilty...? I mean I research multiplicity a lot, mainly because I hope if I'll ever be close with "someone" multiple, I'll know enough to make them feel almost like they are talking to another multiple. I know it's not really possible, but I want to be the most supportive person about it, hah. I'm so thankful for you all and other multiples for educating us!

Even you just being here!!! Thank you so so much for all the research you’re doing! I appreciate you and those like you so much you have no idea. You’re going to be the people who help change the world for the better surrounding DID/OSDD stigma. Anyone with the disorder can spend a lot of time learning about it, but support from singlets like you is honestly invaluable. I feel like I didn’t talk about it as much in the video, but there really are some amazing singlets out there and we wouldn’t know what to do without y’all ❤️❤️

I'm not sure but I might have OSDD1b. The one thing that makes me doubt is that when we switch, it simply feels like my inner voice is push aside and another one takes it's place. Other wise, I can feel and remember most of the things happening (except that one moment where I'm thinking one thing and after a while, I realize one of my voices is still buying something). Then there's what's happening recently. I've been feeling empty lately, but when I let a voice front, again I can still feel a lot of what's happening, but the emptiness is gone and the personality is different, but it comes back when I front again. And then I doubt this again because they can change identifies if I (and they) want to, but they're always the same basic character: Someone similar to Spider-Man (or IS Spider-Man), a responsible one, an angry one, and a hedonistic one. Sometimes these aspects blend, sometimes they're separated (that's the case currently), and most of the time I don't control it. The voices just happen to take these aspects. But then I also have to consider that circumstances are different this time. I didn't make two of them. One manifested as I repress my anger (I was having a stressful week), and I eventually identified him as the original personality (that is, if I have this condition). The other one started manifesting as flashes in my head, and only now did we start talking to him. Then the other one, I identified as my 6th grade self (but he manifest as a 20 something years old that looks like Edward Norton) and when I let him front, he acts almost exactly how 6th grade me did (the only reason we don't allow him to front without someone else co-conscious). Then when I tried to get rid these voices, it never stays permanent and sometimes I can still hear one of them in my head. And now, one of us wants to integrate some alters because we're having a hard time handling all this

Man I'm so jealous of people who know systems IRL. Granted our system was only realized just recently and we don't really have any IRL friends at all yet for numerous reasons but anyway if there aren't really conventions for stuff like that near us do you have any tips for meeting systems? Also when it comes to singlet friends as well does anyone know how to tell people IRL about being in a system? Due to a traumatic upbringing I am really scared to tell people because I'm scared of not really just rejection but by encountering someone who would threaten us physically somehow (this isn't exactly logical but paranoia is a real bitch). Does anyone know how to tackle this fear or know how to find out if someone is trust worthy IRL?
@TheRingsSystem5 жыл бұрын
There's a few common system meetups - In the US, there's a yearly Florida DID convention hosted by An Infinite Mind, and a smaller version in Boston in October I believe. There's a routine system meet up in Philly over the summer which is absolutely lovely, and I know there's a strong system community in Oregon, but unsure who/where to contact. I'd suggest testing the waters with "Oh! I stumbled across this youtuber the other day with DID - have you ever heard of it?" to gauge their reaction. If it goes well, you can come out to them, and if it goes unwell, you can always drop the conversation.
@phoenixwilliams43065 жыл бұрын

Very recently are aware of being plural and the I/we crud is the worst! We had to basically just tell a lot if the people we interact with regularly, just get used to us using the plural when referring to ourselves. Half of them were, " oh, I just thought that was a quirk of how you talk" .... Apparently we've been speaking in the plural half the time for years. 🤦🏼♀️

here's a question. I got a friend who has DID (diagnosed) and over the past year I've realized I might have OSDD-1B (not diagnosed). Before they got diagnosed I told them about my suspicion about my alters, but she shut me down. painful? yes. but I've been thinking since now they can in a way understand were I'm coming from, that I should be system friends with them. We've been arguing for days on the matter but are leaning to telling her, but I still don't really know what to do. Got any advise? btw, love your videos. they really, REALLY, do help us understanding OSDD-1B. thank you
@TheRingsSystem4 жыл бұрын
I don't really have any advice, but I do know what your friend is going through. A few years back, after we had known for years about OSDD, a friend had a realization that they also were a system. It was hard to accept because I had known them as a singlet for so long, and for some reason, knowing someone as a singlet to a system as a close friend and watching them make the discovery is harder. Maybe it had to do with feeling like our experiences didn't match, but a lot of it was wondering if I was influencing them or making them think they had the disorder when they really didn't (I didn't want to make things more complicated for them!) and trying to dissuade them from over-emphasizing with our experience. It took time for me to realize that this wasn't a good thing to do. I'd say give your friend time, and maybe a little space after coming out to them, and be persistent about coming out and your experiences. The Alexandrite system has a good video about coming out too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYq9hZ58gceIibs
