My nystagmus was so bad I had no muscle control over my eyes. In 2017 I had surgery that froze the muscles in my eyes so now at least they look straight ahead. They still shake a little, but they are no longer out of control like they once were.

Bro can you see clearly and how old are you ?cost for surgery
@Koda_Grey10 ай бұрын
@@mandipxff2295 The surgery did nothing to change my vision. It’s was purely for social-emotional wellbeing. I am 31 now, but was 26 when I had the surgery. I have had to do no touch ups yet. The exact cost of surgery is hard to gauge since it depends on what kind of insurance you have. We planned it so I would have it done at the end of the year so I was already past my maximum. That way the insurance covered all of it.

This is one of the reasons that made me fall for my bf->husband-> father of my children. I met him and looked into his eyes. Noticed they were shifting and instantaneous his charisma enveloped me. You guys I was sprung from then on. 🥰

I have congenital nystagmus which means I’ve had it since birth. I’ve had two surgeries since I was born and I’m 13, my vision is around 20/50 or 20/60 when a normal person is 20/20. My surgeries has been to change my null point and now I turn my head to the side and look out of the corner of my eye to see. It’s hard but I’ve always adapted. Leave a comment about your nystagmus!!❤❤

I have had nystagmus my entire life. It is so frustrating to get the comments like “are you high?“ Etc. But one of the most frustrating experience of my life was when I went for a mandatory exam. I had an extremely rude ophthalmologist. I had to tell him my name over and over because he couldn’t bother to remember it, but I also told him at the beginning of the eye exam that I have nystagmus. At one point, when I went to take that peripheral vision test where you stick your head in the bowl - shaped thing and stare at a central light while clicking a button when you see another light off to the side… He kept telling me to keep looking at the center light and not to let my eyes move. Having nystagmus, I couldn’t control them moving, so he started yelling at me about why wasn’t I keeping my eyes on the center. I finally asked him “did you skip the day in school where they taught about nystagmus? He acted surprised, but I reminded him that I told him about my nystagmus when I first started the exams and he just kind of went “Oh”. 🤷🏻♀️

My nystagmus is caused by ONH. People say that if you’re born with it you do not realise how shaky the world appears to be if they had nystagmus all their life, but in my personal experience the constant twitching impacts the way I read and focus on things.

This is so sad and I can relate to you so much! I was born with a rare eye condition called coloboma and my vision is 20/600. I also have uncontrollable nystagmus that causes me to have a very hard time focusing on something and makes my eyes strain. Despite these problems I can still play my video and draw realistic pictures, my favorite things to do, but life is hard.

My son was diagnosed with a coloboma when he was 6 weeks old. When he was 17 and went for his drivers license he could see the objects during the eye test. We had to go to the eye doctor to get him cleared to drive but that’s when they diagnosed him with nystagmus. Does yours affect your balance?

There is another form of nystagmus, voluntary nystagmus, you can do voluntary nystagmus on command you only notice it if you accidentally focus on something for too long and you can control it, for me if i focus on my finger and something it happens but only when i want it too

There is such thing as temporary Nystagmus. Mine is congenital and permanent but from head injuries or dizzying sensations it's possible to experience it temporarily. Sometimes people can have it also in a singular eye or a very mild form too. Best to consult an eye doctor.

English is not my fist language so sorry if it's a bit hard to read. Don't know if you're referring to the codition itself but the shaky view what you may expect from a person with nystangmus is only if you get it later (adult) in life. If you born with it your brain corrects the shaky view. My view gets shaky when I have to much to drink or are really tigerd and sometimes I can feel my eyeballs moving but otherwise, normal I don't notice it.

I only have astigmatism and like -2.75 vision. So I don't think it's anything like what you go through. Thanks for sharing, open and honestly 🩶
