(Melanie here) Thank you, Nada. Now, I understand why some of those principles got me so confused. I appreciate you explaining how we could be two different body types etc. and how our individual features and our face shape factor in.

Would love more videos on your 3 pronged approach. It may be quite helpful to use examples of women in a good fit and less flattering fit like you did in this video, but describe in more detail for each picture what works and what does not. Thanks for all you do!

Yes, would love a haircare video on your curly routine Nada! (Especially because it's difficult to find older women who keep their hair both curly AND long!)

I am really enjoying this principle-based format of presenting information about body types--much easier to apply to my individual circumstances.

For some reason, I still strive to figure out my Kibbe body type-even though if I knew it right now, I don’t think I’d feel better prepared to pick out outfits!

I can help you with that, although I really think it is more for fun and inspiration than it is for actual flattery principles

Once you find out your type it will be a journey to adjust your wardrobe over time and the seasons, but like Nada said - it’s fun! No matter where you’re at in developing your style, you’re never going to be able to buy a whole new wardrobe at once because it wouldn’t be financially viable. Nada points this out in her other videos, that she isn’t expecting you to buy everything she recommends, all at once :) I discovered I’m a soft classic 7 months ago and most of the time I’m only dressing somewhere in the ballpark - but it has still been a major improvement! At the very least it got me out of my leggings :)

I have a small bust and many stylists will say that a high necked garments better enhance the bust, but I generally find v necks more flattering.

It might have to do more with your vertical VS horizontal profile (i.e. how you look from the sides rather than front to back).

Do you find body type principles confusing? Still struggling to figure out your body type? Let's discuss!

Universally flattering principles for all ages/body types: straight leg or bootcut jeans (not cropped), mid to high waist, mid or darker washes, and tuck in your tops whatever your size. Re: flat tummies - you only have a flat tummy if you've skipped the previous meal so don't compare yourself to influencers with a super flat tummy, it's not realistic. Whatever your age, stand up straight, shoulders AND HEAD back to avoid developing a hump on your upper back (stop looking at your phone or you will grow a hump!), tuck in your tummy and bottom, in other words, hold your core in, it may feel strange at first but it will become more and more comfortable. I've noticed a lot of people make the mistake of holding their shoulders back but their neck/head is still too far forward (looking at those phones they're addicted to), look around yourself, not at your phone! I see so many young people already with a hump and hunched shoulders from looking at screens all the time - sad and ageing too, not a good look.

BINGO!!! Posture is truly a key issue in looking your best and few stylists/YT channels discuss this. In part, because most of the YT channel creators are not professionals, but individuals who think they know something about style. It is all about The Core and putting away the GD phone. If you need to check your phone (say look at directions for walking), stop, stand aside and look at the directions. Then put your phone away and continue, standing up straight. Pretend you are balancing a book a top your head. LOL! One trick I have learned is in addition to focusing on The Core, I try to lift my upper torso above my Core, if that makes sense. This elongates your body and amplifies the vertical line. It also takes energy and it works best when you have not stuffed yourself full of food. I think Yoga, Pilates (or the like) and dancing instruction really help in making one aware of their posture. And, these methods build the best musculoskeletal structure for achieving a beautiful elongated posture.

This is so helpful, especially the Proportion part with the images that are basically diagrams! I have a long rise and it’s my only feature that’s out of proportion, so it’s noticeable. This means that sometimes “high waist” bottoms aren’t high enough for me, and I need clothing to accentuate my waist exactly at my waistline. My long rise caused me to have a sway back as a kid. If I don’t unclench the muscles in my lower back, my posture goes off. I’ve learned that poor posture will throw off your vertical lines, and then you won’t look as nice in your clothing, even if the clothing fits.

Is this long rise the same thing as a long torso?

I'm an apple, hour-glass. I have a defined waist, but a tummy. I'm wider side-ways. Ugh!

I don't have a very large frame and fit is so important, yet I love oversized clothes for drama. I'm not sure whether that silhouette is my best though. Honestly, I wear a broad range of silhouettes.
