According to many people online, they stopped getting boosts after they achieved super sayian. Many people I talked to mentioned that during the Android saga everyone was getting their asses handed to them left and right so they stopped getting the buffs because at some point their training would have been rendered a waste of time. This also happens supposedly after the androids are absorbed and the time before the cell games starts which was around the time Akira wanted to stop handing out buffs for them losing and getting healed. It makes sense from a writing and reader perspective but it doesn't from a lore perspective.

It's ambiguous how much time passed during this establishing shot. It's also worth noting that Vegeta lands the only strike in the whole movie before the ending that disturbs Broly's posture (kicks him in the shoulder). Vegeta's punch also had the same impact as Goku's knee earlier in the movie. It's actually pretty decent fight IQ. Broly dodges the first strike, and Vegeta catches him with a flowing combo while he's moving, and then after he lowers his posture to absorb the kick, goes for an uppercut to the chin, which would have been a pretty devastating hit against someone caught so flat footed. But it's Broly.

Imo it would've been a good opportunity for Gohan to go SSJ2 while everybody else was out cold. They could've boxed for a while, then when the comet was getting close, SSJ2 Gohan could drop a gut punch on Broly right in the stomach where he got the injury as a baby. Just like how Goku did except none of this energy-giving nonsense. Then Goku wakes up and instant transmissions everybody outta there. Gohan gets a concussion from Broly's fist and forgets that he did that shit so that we still get the Cell Games insanity.

0:49 ok, here's why... it's the same reason he's shook af by Frieza. Vegeta gets all gassed up "I'm the Legendary Super Saiyan" early in the series. He LITERALLY thinks it's his destiny, birthright, power level. He believes what he's been told growing up "yeah son, your power is exceptional, you wreck, and people should bow down." AND when this is proven to be false by insane juxtaposition. He would fold, because it broke his little world view. His ego and perception of himself gets destroyed seeing it for real and not being able to deny what he sees/feels in that moment. And don't get me wrong! I've ALWAYS been a fan of Vegeta, but I'll be real about the fact he had to get taken down a few notches a few separate times to learn he had to grind to get to be god mode. Broly is no joke, and it's sad he gets treated like one in the very end by Goku's plot armor...
