I agree with cost of living but I think property taxes are ridiculous in Texas...also as population increases so do taxes as more infrastructure has to be built. California saw the largest migration for years and years. Texas will have the same problems over time so it'll be interesting to see what happens. People leave because of job opportunities and savings on income tax. No state compares with our weather, outdoor activities, and innovation.

California's problems aren't because of growth. It's because of the extreme left, they have destroyed California.

No, because we are conservative in resources. California is doing the crap are doing on purpose.

Thanks @JOnb740 the reasons I shared are actual reasons they noted they left California. Yes, jobs/economy and income taxes are a big one.

W all due respect the ‘outdoor activities’ portion of your ‘texas pros’ was highly misleading, in fact that is the number one (if not summer temperatures) reason (lack of outdoor things to do) people want to LEAVE texas!

It comes down to what you enjoy doing. There truly is much to do I Texas, especially if you enjoy the outdoors, fishing, hunting, boating, biking is big as well, though not through the mountains, and sports are huge in Texas, both organized and rec leagues. I conceded that early on that we don’t have the beaches or mountains.

DFW has lakes and parks. Outside of DFW, Texas has 91 mountains, 367 miles of shoreline, 2 large canyons, 4 salt lakes, 4 large underground caverns, and 38% of the state is forested. Better to be hot than cold.

@@whymovetodallas Texas does have beaches and mountains. They just aren't near DFW.

I live in New Mexico so I can present an unbiased opinion on Californians and Texans since we get many from both states coming to my state. California is expensive, more so than Texas to be sure, but it is also a much nicer state to visit. It has a lot of natural beauty, beatiful mountains, better beaches on the Pacific coast then the Gulf Coast and most of all the people are not assholes by and large. You'll notice how Californians by and large don't swamp KZbin comments to talk shit about other states and talk up their own like Texans constantly due. Also, to be sure, the Texans aren't moving to New Mexico to retire like Californians are due to cost of living differences. Texans just come here to visit and get away from their boring flat state and enjoy the legal weed, which will land you in prison in their "freedom loving" state. In fact, we are positively overrun with loud obnoxious drunk and stoned Texans in most of our mountain resort towns. Which is good for the economy I suppose, but ask yourself if you really want to live among the people you see in the KZbin comments from Texas, because that's how they behave in real life as well. Very hostile to anyone who doesn't fit their mold. So, if you cannot afford to live in California because of the high cost of living, you'll find it's cheaper in Texas, but you'll have to live among Texans. Guess it's fine if you fit the mold of people Texans accept - then Texans will be nice to you. If you don't - probably look elsewhere like Colorado.

😂 unbiased? Sorry, after living in 5 states, both conservative and liberal, and husband living in CA for 24 years and now Texas 13 has not been our experience at all. My next door neighbor is a big democrat yard signs and all. We are not. But you know what, we take care of each other when someone needs help. Comes down to the type of neighbor you are. If you sit inside your house and just complain about everyone all day, you will hate it anywhere you live. So thank for watching and sharing YOUR opinion, but will agree to disagree.
