In this video, I explain why the Indian government or RBI cannot just print currency in order to pay off debt or to make people rich. The value of the Indian rupee is going down. Printing more currency without any basis will only lead to a catastrophic situation - INFLATION! Very nice explanation. I have 3 questions:- (i) As per ur explanation, if printing excess currency cause inflation, why US print a lot of dollar (Eg. When covid emerged, US printed a lot of dollar to finance their direct cash transfer to its citizens). Why can't India do the same? (ii) The amount of currency printed is related to the value of goods and services, keeping the equilibrium between Demand and supply. Currently, during this pandemic, when the demand is too low, cant the govenment support those sectors like travel, tourism and hospitality (by direct cash transfer by printing currency)which are impacted by the pandemic. Will such an act cause inflation, since the value of a service is abstract and cannot be as firm as a good? (iii) In a normal condition (suppose a pre-pandemic period), instead of direct cash transfers, if the excess printed money is used for Capital expenditure works, which can create assets or new goods or services, will that cause inflation?

That’s why us is struggling, highest inflation near 7% it’s too high for developed nations but due to larger economy they can limit the inflation below 10% otherwise it could be same like happened in Zimbabwe, even 1 kg rice prices available in millions of Money people bringing money in the mini trucks

1) U.S is a developed nation and a larger economy, so if they printed currecy they can limit the size of inflation in a healthy limit 2)printing of currency keeping low demand only create excess supply thereby value of currency becomes down as it equals to the demand. So it causes inflation 3) Capital expenditure is factor price of a good or service, when it comes to the market it includes depreciation of the good or service thereby it produces more than what spend l, so capital expenditure increases the size of gdp it reduces the inflation rate as it attract more money or investment into the economy ,it doesn't create any inflation
