It's more about our natural hatred of sin as we grow in our faith rather then the ability to stop. Jesus didn't take away sin nature, he took the consequences of that sin nature and that makes us want to flee from it. His grace is insane and hard to grasp but I'm greatful.

The question is "Why can't I stop sinning?" The answer is - Because you're a sinner. You aren't a sinner because you sin, you sin because you're a sinner. It's in our nature, even as Christians. Too many Christians focus on "not sinning" rather than living by faith in God's promises. Every Christian has the Holy Spirit living inside of them. God wants trust. When we live our lives based on God's promises found in His Word, we create a connection. Think of faith like an electrical connection. When we're living by faith in God's Word, the current flows. When we stop living by faith, the connection breaks. When the connection is "live" the Holy Spirit's life in us flowers out of us. The problem with many Christians is they try to overcome sin by will power or "in their own strength" to use a common Christian term. But when we are operating in faith (An action based on a belief and sustained by confidence that God will do what He says) we are pleasing to God. Even if we can stop sinning through will power, Paul says that all OUR righteousness is filthy rags. Paul goes on to say that ANYTHING not of faith is sin. Faith isn't believing in the existence of God. Faith is acting on His promises. For example - Malachi 3:9-12 Bringing the tithe into the storehouse brings God's financial blessing. Tithing is living by faith. Hebrews 12 and 13 tell us to obey our spiritual leaders. That's living by faith . Ephesians 5 tells wives to submit to their husbands. That's living by faith. Faith is practical and more than a mental ascent to a belief. Hope this blesses someone. Jesus is God. He's coming back for us. Be of good cheer fellow believers, you are going to make it. Because of Christ's finished work on the cross and the fact that God is WAY more committed to you than you will ever be to Him while still trapped in this fallen body I want you to know that you are going to make it. Doesn't mean that we lean into sin and we reject the conviction of the Holy Spirit, but God wants trust/faith, not sinless perfection. Focus on what pleases God - faith. Not "not sinning" which is not in our nature. The Holy Spirit will overcome sin in us when we live by faith. God bless.

I agree that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone. Once the seed goes into the soil it will grow and eventually produce fruit. Galatians 5 is a good place to gain understanding. The warning is to not live a life practicing sin. A daily habit of sin will not go well. As I already stated, I believe the gospel. We cannot earn salvation. We cannot change in our own strength. But we need to understand that Jesus came to save us from the power of sin. If we focus only on one side of the coin, we may become legalistic. However, if we flip the coin we may fall into Hyper-Grace where we believe we can remain in our habitual sin. Trying to earn heaven will not get us there. Failing to daily deny our flesh may also have dire consequences.

That's why St. Paul said, "I chastise my body and bring it into subjection doe fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should become a reprobate (1 Cor 9:27)." And exhorted believers "to work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12)."

The problem is we don't trust His promises just like the Israelites in the desert, they had no faith God would bring them to the promised land, also we are people of weak faith ( speaking of myself first). Had we believed Jesus promises that he who believes in Him will have life eternal, that He is always with us, that the truth shall set us free etc we would have been in a different condition. 2 Peter 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. Kick out the law/old covenant or mixture of law and grace OR mixture of old and new covenant "religion" of Christianity and start truly living under the pure and unadulterated grace of God our Savior, which is ours because of shed blood of Jesus Christ, then sin WILL NOT and CANNOT have dominion over you because we are not under law but under truth and grace which came through our Lord Jesus Christ. To be in Christ, you deny the ways of your flesh, and abide in the faithfulness in the Spirit, its not about exercising the muscle to grow fruit, but to speak according to the will of the Father, and 3 loaves with feed a thousand. @@musisijonathancharles7135 I do not know about God waiting to get involved at the time of Noah, since Enoch was a prophet. The law does not do much to restrain sin if no one enforces it, and it perishes with use (see Colossians 2:20-23). The irony of the law, though it is good, is that it also teaches us how to sin, which is part of why Paul says what he does in Romans 7. "The law was not made for the righteous" (1 Timothy 1:9), which is why I said the law accuses us of our sin. All have sinned, as Paul concludes in Romans 3:23, but the lead up to that conclusion is everyone has committed every sin by thought, if not by action and word. Jesus said the same thing in the Sermon on the Mount. To live by that kind of standard takes far more than law, which you know; it takes a promise from God, which Jesus secured by His death and resurrection to move our sin out of the way.

@@deanfry879Got me on Enoch, though I wanted to put emphasis on God removing the curse from the land from the time of Noah in the flesh perspective. I think from creation, that was a major upgrade of living in grace for the flesh. Remember after every covenant God lifts a few burdens off sinners in the flesh. Enoch walked with God. So he was in Spirit. No one in Spirit in the old testament was confirmed dead. Noah died in the flesh but under a covenant. Meaning in Spiritual sense he was yeilding to the Spirit, because God found a quality of the Spirit in him, Grace, the same he found in moses even when Moses was not walking perfectly with God as Enoch and Elijah did in the flesh. What do I mean by yielding? God wanted to reveal Christ, why he called Israel the firstborn? The first being what he wants from he's creation.
