Six years on and the mystery of MH370 is no closer to being solved but there is growing evidence to say that it was not an accident. But with all the technology and new information that has come to light since the disappearance, why can't we find MH370.

I think the Oceans are way more hostile than Space, gravity is a bitch for sure, but how about hydrostatic pressure and corrosive and conductive salt eventually destroying everything, I think of this as something with so little chance of success that we should completely overhaul every aspect of aviation tracking to avoid this. You can say the same for the South Pacific and South Atlantic as well. Not just the South Indian ocean. The South Pacific especially will be even bigger and less known and explored. In fact you can say the same for about 90% of ocean area around the world. It's pretty much all an unknown and very, very deep. Even the North Atlantic reaches depths of 27,500 feet at it's deepest point and averages depths of almost 12,000 feet. Theres part's of the South Pacific that reach 35,000 feet deep. And that's just the places that people have discovered. About 95% of the oceans are unmapped and unknown.

One theory is that the passengers and crew were killed very early in the flight, if the pilot depressurized the cabin when he shut off the power almost immediately after diverting from the scheduled flight path, they all would've fallen unconscious within minutes. But there are no bodies down there. Let me explain what happened to the bodies of the lost passengers of Titanic. She was carrying around 2228 souls (that number has been lowered in recent years), of which 705 passengers survived, leaving approximately 1,523 lost. Those who wore life-preserves were picked up by, mostly, the cable ship turned recovery ship, Mackay-Bennett and several other ships which joined it. Between them, they picked up some 335 bodies. This leaves approximately 1,188 passengers' bodies who were never recovered and which either went down with the ship (which itself took around 5-8 minutes to reach the bottom!), or they either drowned or succumbed to hypothermia in the frigid Atlantic. Those that weren't wearing life-preservers would have quickly sunk beneath the surface after death - but the bottom is 2 and a half miles down, and their journey to the bottom would have taken anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour. And as they passed down, down, down through the depths of the water column they would have been crushed to thin wafers under the extreme pressure of the those depths. By the time they reached the bottom, their bones would become a gelatinous goo - they would not resemble anything remotely human, but all over Titanic's debris field the research subs and ROV's still pick up images of the hundreds of pairs of shoes which mark exactly where these poor 1,188 souls came to rest. A solid meal is hard to come by for the myriad sea creatures that can sustain life at those dark depths, and they would have eaten their feasts within days, or weeks. Any calcium remains at those depths would have completely dissolved in a matter of weeks or months - and the ONLY reason that these pairs of boots and shoes still survive (they still litter the debris field on the deep sea floor to this day), is because of the tannins that are used in the manufacture of shoe-leather. It is too unpalatable, even for hungry sea creatures. Similar depths prevail in the area where MH370 is thought to be..and so a similar fate can be imagined for the bodies of the victims. ALL we can take comfort in, in both cases, is knowing that the poor souls were already passed away before they were crushed into wafers as they descended down through the water column. It's just ONE small comfort that loved ones of MH370's passengers can take - That there were no terrible last minutes before it took a final plunge into the ocean and split into 2 million pieces. It would seem that all passengers would have all quickly lost consciousness after the loss of oxygen - most would not have even been aware that they were entering into a comatose state, and then they would have quietly passed away from hypoxia within minutes. They would have just gone to sleep and died. Most would have died on impact anyway, but their deaths were not violent at all. A nd so they would not have been aware of being crushed as they descended deeper through the water column either. (I suppose we must find small mercies wherever we can in such circumstances). But my point is, that within just weeks of MH370's demise there would be no human remains to be brought home. I didn't loose anyone I love in the MH370 disaster, so I can't know how painful it would be for those who really want to know where their loved ones came to rest. But I don't think that it will help them to sleep any better at night even if they did find bits of the aircraft on the deep ocean floor. There are no human remains there ... So ... Why not just leave the search. Is it really worth asking Australian taxpayers for another half a trillion dollars to continue with the search? Only those who have actually lost loved ones on MH370 could possibly say "Yes" to that question. But I think that many of the families actually think that there are still bodies down there - but that's just not possible. I think that it's time to stop the search because little to nothing can be gained from it now. Let them Rest in Peace.

I'd be interested if any of the investigators considered another theory - that the plane landed and floated with enough power to engines for sat transmissions. As the range from satellite is calculated on time, that would mean the plane was closer to the satellite at a lower height and stationary for X hours. This would alter the landing point. Also, CSIRO is pronounced "C-S-I-R-O" or "sigh-roe". Good video.

@@ApprenticeGM No. First, an aircraft that hits the water inverted is going to disintegrate on contact. It's incredibly hard to land an aircraft in the ocean on its belly and keep it in one piece. It's impossible to do it inverted. Second, the satcom antenna that sends the reports to the satellites is on top of the plane. If the plane is tilted at any significant angle, it won't stay locked on the satellite. It certainly won't be talking if the plane is inverted in water.

The issue with that is if the black box is to breakaway and float off, it leaves behind the rest of the fuselage. The goal of the black box is not for tracking the aircraft, it’s for finding out what happened to the aircraft when the wreckage is discovered. Commercial Aircrafts have plenty of instruments capable of feeding location data via satellite, radar, and etc. If you want to know more about why it’s so hard to find the aircraft, the KZbin channel “Lemmino” did a 30ish minute long video with a lot more detail.

Why don’t ‘black boxes’ get jettisoned from the tail immediately upon impact so that a beacon can then be sent to a satellite…? It could be made to float and have a sea anchor attached. Since a sea anchor is basically a parachute it could also be used as a drag chute to seperate the black box away from the fuselage further avoiding damage.

Titanic weighed potentially hundred of times more than an aircraft which are built to be as light as humanly possible. A relatively straight path to the bottom for the titanic in cold waters. MH 370 in a large warm body of water may float for miles before touching the sea floor. It may have been shredded into many pieces upon hitting the water. Any significant impact to water without breaking sufficient surface tension and the water just acts like concrete . Just observations i made based on my presumed knowledge to keep in mind. Maybe reading Jules Vernes "10,000 leagues under the seas" at a young age during a difficult childhood made that world special to me. It was pretty clear to me, from the beginning, that the cockpit crew was likely responsible. The timing of the communication loss, the coincident departure from flight plan, and the subsequent flight along FIR boundaries cannot be accidental. Is there any alternate explanation? Given that the crew caused the loss of the airplane, would finding the wreckage provide any useful information? Similarly, the disappearance of Ms Earhart is not a mystery at all, to me. Navigating across the Pacific by dead reckoning, ADF, and celestial hoping to find tiny islands is a fool's errand.

I was on a merchant ship, can't give the name, in the gulf of Thailand 2014 during this incident around were the plane made the u-turn. 2 of our lookouts spotted luggage in the water and the vessel made Williamson turn to recover it but couldn't find it again. the report went out and we were told it was just logs which made the Able Seafarer and Mate on Watch, who had both seen it, go ballistic because they knew what they saw. I'm no aviation mishap expert, but there was probably an explosion on the plane that knocked out a lot electrics and the pilots probably doing the best they can with their cockpit resource management to control the situation but couldn't come thru. on a off note, there were eye witnesses that claimed to have saw the craft flying bye, upside down, in Maldives and following that trajectory on gnomic chart than it was headed to Madagascar. I always found that interesting after the wreckage started to show up there.

Yes, there are a few technicalities which are bewildering. The design seems to be crap. When a plane is on autopilot it should not let the pilot sleep or die and just carry on for hours until fuel runs out. It should prompt the pilot at least every 5 minutes and, if no response, transmit an alarm. Something like the dead man's handle used on trains. There should be no option for disabling the auto identification and location system, other than for military stealth aircraft. And it seems that the designers haven't heard of satellite telephony.

What is being spoken about is the fact that the R.R. engines fitted on this plane are always in contact with the companies computers all the time the engines are running, if provides the company with a live record of the performance of each engine for the engines life, it is not something that anyone can turn off on the aircraft as it is the engines themselves that output the signal, this is why it is not helpful in pinpointing the aircrafts position, but for arguements sake if they were to start up again then the engine output signal would be activated as this only works whilest the engines are running.
